So.. Keita. Has he been good or bad? I’ve read both. Watching the France highlights only, he looked horrific.
He was certainly the weak link in the back in today's game. I didn't watch the France game, but he was poor today.
I didn't watch the France game, but he was very poor today. His defensive awareness was average, to below average. It was his decisions with the ball at his feet that were so poor. So many unforced giveaways. He had a good moments, one unexpected quick direct pass to the wing which led to a goal scoring opportunity comes to mind. But he has a long way to go....
Reality Check. He's also on a U-20 team. One of the best 8 in the world this go-round. We'll see. Some of those guys pan out--some don't.
It’s probably due to their lack of collegiate athletics which are important in the development of top quality soccer players.
Right. I wasn't comparing him to Maldini. I was looking at his performance level against his competition. And he was arguably the worst performer from the team that lost to Ecuador. So it goes...
Matias Sanchez was on the U20 World Cup winning Argentine national team. How well did that work out for him? (Or Argentina for that matter...)
True story: I somehow missed that this game was in Cincy until yesterday morning. I don't know how, but I missed it. Good news: I didn't get tickets to the game and apparently realized that there was a game 1-2 days before the team realized they had a game.
Thankfully, the USMNT game was the #3 sporting event taking place at the same time. Nothing seen, nothing missed.
If 3G utters one word about the shit field being a factor, he should be fired immediately. This does not preclude his firing for other cause, but somehow I feel there will be excuses. I'm no longer excited for the Gold Cup.
I mean, being 100% dead serious, is there ever reason to be excited for the Gold Cup? It's a shit tournament, always played in the US for sheer purposes of greed. It's shit. Get back to me when games are played in Mexico, or Honduras, or Costa Rica, or anywhere other than the US honestly.
