Duvan has yet to score for the national team. Falcao can’t be benched, he is the only striker was have that we can rely on to score. I do think we should start them together, I think they would complement themselves well, and it would also relive some pressure of Duvan who I’m sure has a chip on his shoulder since he’s yet to score for NT. Club form and NT team form is different, just because some has a great season doesn’t mean he’s immediately a starter. It means he should get a lot of game time to let him adapt to the team. NT team jersey has a lot of weight to it, it’s not for everyone.
Good points. In Duvan’s case it’s interesting For his two WCQ appearances I felt his role was specifically to bring physicality and hold up play with scoring being a second priority. Both of those games were high pressure situations and I felt he did a solid job. In friendlies - his performances have been “meh”.... against Panama, I found him to look clumsy; but it was a situation where we had the game under control and went with a more defensive/physical lineup rather than ran up the score. Long story short - I feel like Duvan is in a grace period where his NT scoring rate (or lack thereof) should not be a concern until he really gets a string of real matches under his belt.
I really don't understand why not to try both of them together. It worked in Lima and in March when both of them co-op. Let's say Barrios, Uribe, Cardona (Cuadrado) and James as our midfielders. And then Falcao and Duvan. Surely versus much easier opponents than Argentina (like Paraguay and Qatar). Hopefully Queiroz won't be such a stubborn on that 4-2-3-1 in games when we can easily play with two strikers.
It all comes down to CQ's preferences. Some coaches like certain formations, other choose the system based on the players that are available. Today's game against Peru will give us answers.
It's a tactic to avoid copy right infringement. The autobots have a harder time finding live streams with those types of anomalies, (ie: angles, dual screen, subtitles etc etc.)
Agree with this. It takes time for strikers to take hold, certainly did for Radamel and JPA as the last two mainstay 9s in our fold. Given the form Duvan showed this year, think he needs a run of games here and Id be cool with starting him next to Falcao.
no one thinks that Falcao and Duvan hold similar positions? taking space out of each other as they claim? or is Duvan a strong player coming from outside of the box?
Han funcionando bien cuando hab jugafo juntos...divan antes jugo con quagriarella....falcao se ha complemetado siempre bien con otros delanteros
They looked pretty good starting together against Peru in qualifying. It would be nice to see it again in my opinion.
I think its unlikely that CQ plays 2 strikers, the 4-3-3 fits his style and if he wanted to play a 4-4-2 I'd think he'd be starting them together last game to work on it, instead he's been playing one or the other. If he does play them together I'd imagine Duvan would be wider which he can do, but it wastes a lot of his good qualities to be fair. Duvan is a lot better then Falcao right now, not scoring for the NT is a poor way to measure who he is as a player since he's never been as good as he has been this year and he really hasn't had chances. We've seen what he can do against really good teams in Serie A, that doesn't all of a sudden change, he needs chances and we need to ride the guy who's been the best Colombian player this year.
Queiroz has talked about the issue in a press conference earlier this year saying we can expect to see Zapata and Falcao starting in certain situations. But yes within his tactics those situations might be few and far between. It is hard to say if we should ride a player who has not developed a role for the National team yet on the field or in the locker room. We shall see if he steps up today and in future games. Going by what Queiroz has said about Falcao and his importance to the team I doubt he will be benched any time soon. I think he said in a recent interview that Falcao , James and Mina are the three most important players on the team.
I disagree with this. There are many examples in football history when players underperform in national teams. In the NT the tactics can be totally different, there is no time to prepare like in clubs, and some players are just poor at adapting fast to changing strategies.
We cant forget the volume of attack that atalanta has....that colombia wont.....so not being alond upfront wont be bad...bearing in mind that we womt generate too.many options as atalalnta
It is difficult to emulate a lot of the service he gets at Atalanta. We just do not have guys who can consistently cross the ball as well as they do. And our style and tactics are obviously very different.
And apart is a gasperini system....dififcult to emulate for another coach or team.... 2018-2022 is a new era to explore...we cant close to 4-2-3-1....because was the tendency in 2018
