I'm now counting 33 coach changes going into the 2019 season, with maybe a few more to come. That's just short of 10%.
not disputing the fact that "Ball State is/will be open", but if so, they seem to be taking their time
I am sure it will mean a whole new coaching staff as well as making it very difficult this late in the season to put the team and players through all of this. While I don't see any players on Top Drawers transfer list transferring out if there was any rumor about firing the coach. I do see 5 players that are transferring in. Did they use some questionable tactics to get those players?
Word I am hearing is that the coach was terminated for detrimental conduct towards players (i.e. bullying, verbal abuse etc.). No official word, but I know at least one former player who has indicated this is the reason.
I can't remember if this was covered previously or not: Jamie Huff has been named Interim Head Coach for Detroit.
I know it’s a d2 job, but anyone know where Andy at Ferris State went? Just went to the National tournament there.
He and his wife did a really good job there. Tough place from a funding/resource perspective. Administration couldn't get out of their own way and ultimately were the reason he/they left. Sad actually.
Nope. I actually expected something to be announced already but everyone is being very tight-lipped about it. All anyone will say is that he’s out. As to why, when or who his replacement will be, nobody will say.
It happened over a week ago but here it is. https://ballstatesports.com/news/2019/5/22/craig-roberts-resigns-as-soccer-coach.aspx
Although the Detroit women's soccer pages list Jamie Huff as assistant coach, the schools' Athletics Staff Directory lists Huff as Interim Head Coach. I've been making the assumption that with the change in the Directory, he's going to be the head coach for the coming season. Is that wrong? Also, I just checked and see that Nicholls State has changed to listing Danny Free as Interim Head Coach. So, I'm assuming he's going to be head coach for the coming season. Same question, Is that wrong?
From the Detroit press release, "Assistant coach Jamie Huff has been named the interim head coach and a national search for a permanent head coach will begin immediately." I think they are in the search process for a new head coach especially since they posted on the NCAA website last Friday. I believe with Nichols that will be the case. They wanted to wait until November so they could run a "full" search since late January/early February was so "late in the process."
Maybe he is in the running but they called the Notre Dame asst offering the job. Still nothing at LSU?
Seriously, any idea about LSU? It's been two months now. Recruiting events occurring and season starts in just over 2 months.
Probably a good indication of why BL left for Rice. Clearly women's soccer is not something they care too much about.
You mean they wouldn't be approaching June 1 without a football coach, as they're doing with women's soccer?
Well one thing is for certain Rob KIatte is leaving Butler because there is now a posting on the NCAA job market site for an assistant coach for Butler.
Andy's wife, Stacey, took an assistant position last month at D2 University of Indianapolis. https://athletics.uindy.edu/news/2019/4/24/stacey-mccaslin-tabbed-womens-soccer-assistant-coach.aspx I'm not sure what Andy is doing. My immediate thought when hearing of the Ball State opening is that he would be a great fit there. Depending on where they live in Indy metro area, it would be feasible. The northeast suburbs of Indy, around Fishers and Carmel, are only about 45ish minutes from Muncie and Ball State. If he doesn't go to Ball State there are plenty of soccer opportunities in the Indianapolis area. It's a Midwest mini-hotbed of soccer. There are a lot of good clubs and colleges in and around Indy.
St Francis (PA) open. Any idea where Brenda van Stralen has moved onto? She's been pretty successful at a school with modest means, has played a good brand of soccer as well.
