I didn't pay attention to Bacuna (or he didn't stand out for me :p) - I was busy lamenting how far Terence Kongolo has fallen down the ladder... o_O He used to be one of my favorite young players. Fast, tall, athletic and gritty. Seemed like he was destined for great, even made the WC 2014 team. Now he's about to go down to obscurity, and probably won't hear much about him. Too bad.

  5. See this analysis of him:
    http://fcafkicken.com/afkicken-anal...eroveraar-aanjager-en-dirigent-van-groningen/

I really wanted him and his Japanese team mate in the midfield at Feyenoord.
I think it would have been better to go to one of the top 3 clubs here.

Weghorst scored a hattrick today, and Robben got a sending off goal.

    Bayern win the title

Talking about LBs. Whats the status on Bakker. For sure after the arrival of martinez, he is out of the picture now.all the top three have finest of LBs and Raiola is banned. Looks like he will leave as a free agent. I cant see any team coming for him if he doesnt play. No word from PSG as well who pulled out on the last hour during winter transfer

@wilson00 - my understanding is that he is still headed to PSG. He's not going to be with Ajax.

Adam Maher signed a three-year contract with Utrecht. I really don't get it. This decreases his future possibilities of joining Oranje nearly to nil. Staying in AZ would have been much better for him.

Yeah this is quite possible. Maher really seems to be an introvert, so perhaps that’s why he preferred to move with his favorite coach.

I feel sorry for Strootman. Was one of the most promising players before his knee injury “kinda of a van bommel’s successor”. There are some rumors about a possible return to PSV.

  16. Yup. See this article in which Maher explains his choice.

I wish more players had his attitude!! We all probably thought he would be a star player and I guess he had some self-doubt along the way. It's good that he knows what he wants out of football.

  18. Yup. He has learned the hard way what his strengths and weaknesses are and wants to be coached with regard to that and not anymore trying to fullfil unrealistic expectations.
    Indeed good for him:thumbsup:

Today USA won against France in the u-20 World cup with a 3-2 result. They have an excellent group of young players.
One of these players, who really stunned me, was their RB sergino Dest who is a Jong Ajax player and is actually Dutch (Born and raised in the Netherlands, to a Dutch mother and an American father).
He is such a talented player. I wonder how can KNVB and Jong Oranje coaches ignore him or not give him a call up for the NT. He has all what it takes to be a world class RB.
His playing style and skills are pretty similar to Marcello.

Does anyone know more information about him?

  20. He wasnot that good when Young Ajax got demolished at De Toekomst by iirc Cambuur with 2-6.
He's still erratic in his performance, one time great, another time suck.

This!!! He really was not that good and Ajax only gave him a contract last year. He seems to have turned on something and is looking like a potential first team player. Sometimes players take a longer time to develop. I've seen him maybe a half dozen times and he has been quite good.

  22. Yup, I think patience is the key word with him. Give him time to mature, if necesary by loaning him out.

Thank you for your replies guys. It's interesting how a year or two can make such a difference in the way a young player develops.
