@Emperor_Adriano what are your initial thoughts on Jorge so far at Santos?

I think he's been really good. He doesn't really go out wide when they attack, he helps keep possession well and has a great long shot.
And look at the defensive performances without him in the lineup.

Looks like Palmeiras will get $100m for PPV guaranteed + additional if performance is good from Globo plus no 20% penalty for signing with TNT for cable. Flamengo are at 120, Corinthians at 110, Sao Paulo at 70.

If true, that's a big win for Palmeiras.

Why ? Clear stomp on Deyverson's foot.

Where do i start??? 14 fouls for palmeiras , 10 for botafogo. 10 yellows for botafogo, 0 for palmeiras. It was refball at it's finest, and quite obvious from 30 minute mark of the 1st half until the end of the match.
And i highly doubt anyone watching live saw this. I certainly didn't, neither did the commentators live. The ref at the time called it the dive with a yellow.. Not sure I'd define it as a stomp , his boot was like 1 inch of the ground and streched... like gabriel said, there is going to be contact and that was nothing, deverson seemed of balance too. Secondly that was gatitos ball regardless, if deverson "stays up" he fouls gatito no matter what. Seemed inconsequential contact to me and didn't effect the outcome or play one bit. I'm also wondering how that gets varred when nobody expects it, and for instance the lizeiro no var then torro var in sao paolo against bahia. It's really inconsistent and also the var doesn't really respect the spirit of why people wanted it in the first place.

Even in slow motion it looks like deverson is falling before the "contact". That's a harsh penalty to take if given live let alone after a 8 minute var replay. It obviously wasn't clear to the ref, it seemed like he had to watch the replay 50 times.

I will start by saying that Deyverson probably could have stayed up. That's why the fall is not natural. However, that's a PK. The stomp may be accidental, but it's a clear one. Second, I don't see how that's Gatito's ball. He tried to catch it up high and let it drop. The ball was clearly free and within Deyverson's reach. He had a fair chance to that ball. For me there is no controversy here. I don't know about the other VAR you're mentioning, but I don't expect that VAR is going to be perfect. But I think it will get better over time.

As for the fouls, yeah that's bizarre. I didn't watch the game. I saw some highlights. I think Botafogo had 11 YCs. Actually I heard Botafogo had 13 fouls and Palmeiras had 19 total. However, 2 or 3 of those cards were for complaining. One was for an assistant coach.

I saw some of the fouls and they were yellow worthy. Tackles from behind and tactical fouls to break a counter like holding a player with an arm. I think it was 4 or 5 of them. Not sure about the remaining. I can't speak for the fouls from Palmeiras. But yeah, it's definitely bizarre. 19 fouls and no cards is weird.

Well the front office was trying to force team selection now so did he have a choice??? Not that i agree with reserves against fortaleza but not a good look. I think it was more of that then pressure from the fans, although that display by the fans against cap was even a bit much for me and i think he is making a mockery of this job.

And i need to get Jorge jesus's agent. Knows nothing about Brazilian football yet will get offered two of the biggest jobs.
I talk to a serie d manager who is also on the carioca circuit and I asked him why haven't you gotten a chance to manage a serie b team considering you played for flu in the 80s and your teams in the carioca are always organized and competitive.
He said " The agents here control everything and if i signed with one of the major agents here, hed get the job but at what price??? Essentially said he'd be a slave to the agents demands.

If flamengo gets jorge jesus they will get bounced the fuk out of the libertadores. That was the only positive of abel, i thought he gave them a pretty good shot to win it.

Rogerio's fortaleza system would be fire with flamengos roster. Even down to the annoying tactic of the gk coming out 40 yards and play tik a tak with the cbs , I'm starting to see why it works

Apparently he is pretty well off financially. He doesn't really need that shit.

Yeah. Not sure which regime is worse. Bandeira de Mello was always way too passive for a big club president and BAP is pulling Daniel Synder moves even though he wanted to keep Abel.

I don't blame him for that, but he knew what the deal would be when taking the job. And a Libertadores year is always going to provide more pressure.

Did you see petkovic today? Maybe they uploaded it to GE but Muricy said that Abel had the perfect gameplan against corinthians and was trying to make the point that flamengo will suffer in the libertadores without abel. Then Pekovic went on a rant for 5 minutes yelling lol. Couldn't understand what he was saying though.

Didn’t see it but will look for it. Based off other things I’ve seen from Pet, he’s been off his rocker.

Crossing my fingers that Jorge Jesus declines our offer. He'd be a disaster IMO.

The Liga Nos crowd I know says he loves to attack and is a terrible man manager.. I'm leaning towards disaster too. I guess i'd like to know what the players truly thought of abel. We know what they said publicly, but I can't take it at face value. A Foreign manager walking into that lockeroom just seems like it would backfire, even if the players had issues with abel.

Hard to decline Flamengo with this roster.
