Tyler Adams gets the start in the biggest match of his career. It looks like he and Kevin Kampl are dual #8s (or #6s, if you prefer). Match is 0-0 after 20 minutes. Adams would be the third consecutive American to win the DFB Pokal if Leipzig win.
I know Chandler won last year, but what Yank won in 2017....wait sorry, Pulisic. I somehow forgot that.
So far, the division of labor between Kampl and Adams is between the sides of the field. Adams has gotten forward effectively, including some passing in the final third, down the right side of the field.
The Leipzig shape seems to have flipped after the goal. Adams is generally inclined to the left now. Not much happening, because Bayern is controlling play after the goal.
The start was chaotic with all the pressing but Bayern have settled into the game. Now leipzig can't control the ball. Need to get to half time without another goal
Adams isn't happy about a collision of heads with Mueller. I'm not sure that he's correct to be angry. Hilariously, Leipzig don't show much sportsmanship and boot the ball downfield to end the half.
Agreed. Adams is playing well and that pass at 16 mins was a beauty but they definitely started to lose their shape as a team after that goal.
Hummel's dribbles forward, splits Kampl and Adams, and hammers a shot towards goal that is parried. The match is opening up.
Adams gets the hook after 64 minutes. Understandable, as Leipzig must sacrifice one of its two DMs as it chases a goal, while Adams just came off an injury.
He was just beginning to lag a little. Glad they took him off. He was the best defensive player altho Konate made some big plays. Adams broke up so many plays before they could get into Leipzig's half and started the offensive initiative going the other way. Great game for Tyler.
I got the impression he was upset play wasn't stopped earlier for the head collision. Play should have been stopped even with no foul.
