    There were games today.

Horvath started in a 2-0 loss at Standard that happened despite Standard going down to 10 in the 30th minute.

Genk draw, Brugge lose (sweet rhyme), title decided.

Genk wins the league, their 4th first-division league title.

he should save those type of shots though. He's not that great and I think Brugge will be looking for an upgrade.

First goal was a PK which he almost got to and his team missed many chances so don’t put this one on Horvath !

Yea, that's a save you have to make.

It was well struck and dipping and swerving and I commiserate with how difficult those are to deal with but it was 40 yards out.

TBF, they were losing 1-0 already in the 89th minute and they needed to win so it's not as if that was a decisive play.

With no wall/visual obstruction either. Bad look for Horvath.

With Genk drawing it was moot anyway. Even if Brugge had won, they arrived to the final date a point behind and Genk was going to beat Standard at home.

Now with the title decided, it may be a bit different.

Ethan is doing ok for a young keeper, and he's shown he can have inspired days. That's what matters to us, from the NT perspective.

That was an incredible shot. should Hovrath have made the save? probably. Sure doesn't seem like an outright error, though. Look at the slo mo in slo mo and you'll see a red guy and blue guy both walk between goalie and ball right before the shot. Not sure if that was enough to mess with Hovrath, but he was late on the jump. But man that was a perfect shot. Dipped low and snuck inside the post side netting. perfect

Fair play to Genk. Hopefully Brugge can be formidable to fight a CL spot. Gonna be another big season for Horvath.

That is a deceptively good shot, but a horribly bad-looking highlight to be on the wrong end of.

I'm not saving that one but Horvath should have.

I know that ball is a long way out, but it seems evident that a long-range effort was coming. The defense was scattered, almost daring the opponent to take his chances. Any point in a two-man wall there? Should not obstruct the goalkeeper's view, and might limit the shooter's options. How far out is too far out (to form a wall)?

goalkeepers are the only player never allowed to make mistakes. He had a great second half of the season. Another season like that and he will be too good for Brugge.

I'd rate him as having a pretty damn good season entirely. He came in and got the team into the Europa League (and sans embarrassment). I concur. I feel another and he can get a move to a mid-table German side.

Yeah, but I wish we had a through-the-net view on that as it looks like that fell off the ledge like a world-class breaking ball. Obviously froze Horvath, but I think it might have been due to the curve rather than not seeing the ball. Either way, if you give that up in Dec. it's forgotten except for "goal of season" reels. But it's an unfortunate one to end his very good season on.

looks like Bruges win 3-2 with an 89 min winner.

Couldn't do anything about the goals but we saw the old Ethan back yesterday. Maybe it was because there was nothing at stake after a period of intense pressure, or it was due to our crazy line-up (only two defenders because of suspensions, injuries...)

Either way, second place ain't that bad. Could have been first though, but we lost too much points to lesser opponents and the refereeing has been quite shocking this year, which might have cost us some points too.

    See you guys next season

Not really, papers have a player of the season ranking, but nothing specific on goalkeepers.
And ratings in newspapers are very biased. I often wonder if I went to the same match as their journalists.

6 clean sheets in 18 league matches, 5 clean sheets in 10 playoff matches.

compared to other keepers on the big sides:

Ochoa at Standard Liege with 8 clean sheets in 30 matches, 3 clean sheets in 10 play off matches.

Didillon at Anderlect with 8 clean sheets in 30 matches, 1 clean sheet in 10 playoff matches

Sinan Bolat at Genk with 11 clean sheets in 30 matches, 2 cleansheets in 10 playoff matches

and Letica had 4 clean sheets in 12 matches prior to Horvath taking over. 13 goals allowed in 12 matches to Horvath's 16 goals allowed in 18 matches, 25 overall allowed in 28 matches.

Not to mention the 3 clean sheets in the Champions League.

    Man, I need a LIFE :D

Probably works better for all to see.

btw I take it Horvath has an Hungarian grandparent? I suppose that explains how he was at Molde when he was 18.

He didn’t look to stellar on either of those goals. Not to say he should have made the save, but he appeared hesitant and didn’t challenge. He’ll get better with age. He has some very good and exciting qualities and he needs to focus on the weaknesses (indecision and distribution with feet).

The question I wonder is whether Horvath is a Keller or a Friedel or a Howard or a Guzan?

If he gets to any of the above's best form for any amount of time, he's gonna have a very good career.
