No, I had been in the bench before against Tigre and against Huracan. Lately he was more involved with the Reserve team and with the first team. They have spoken very well of him in Argentina, so it would not be surprising if he made his debut soon.

These are the types of players we dont get at the international level. This kid is going to be very very good and we have a short sighted group when it comes to recognizing youth. Its amazing Pulisic ever got a shot as well as Weah.
Yeah, those kids playing in the academies of clubs like Dortmund and PSG are always overlooked by American soccer. Straight to the ignore list for this one. Goodness.
i think he just meant like dual nats with tenuous ties to the USA....who are also good enough for "better" countries...the US doesn't seem to get many of those....not nearly as many as when the "other country" is not as good as the USA a la iceland or new zealand...(or not good enough for germany).... Rossi, Funes Mori, Kenedy, Ibisevic, Subotic, Pierie, Siebatcheau etc There IS somewhat a pattern there...when a dual is really good...the % that they end up playing for the us is lower, imo ....but the Pulisic comment is asinine....as he only ever had ties to the US. Don't think the USMNT has ever lost a player like that that had a legit shot at the USMNT...and was wanted by the team.... What are the odds on this player being in the US setup?
What is the kids name from Mexico Gonzalez.. he comes to mind. Pulisic did have Croatian chances as well. What I meant by that is that we typically overlook those playing abroad. Weah was one who in the past under Arenas wasnt his type of guy playing MLS ball. What I meant is that those who play abroad typically werent utlized by USMNT and they were more talented than those we had.
Like @BostonRed said, Funes Mori, Kenedy, and Vedad have never been citizens of the United States. With regards to Siebatcheu and Pierie, it is very simple. Players who grew up, developed, and still play in one country are almost certainly going to want to play for that country. Yeah, there are a few exceptions but no one should have any problems with Jordan and Kik trying to stick with France and Holland as long as they can. They are far more identified with those countries both personally, and as footballers. There is no question about that. That being said with Matko, he wants to play for the United States. He might still make occassional appearances with Argentina but he is looking forward to playing for the United States again. He told me that and he told Arch Bell that. He seems enthusiastic. At the moment, his next best shot is the U.S. U-20 team whenever it starts up the 2021 cycle (probably in the fall - or January at the latest). There really isn't a team for him at the moment.
Matko is still learning English. I was told he is getting better but I wouldn't know because I used an interpreter with my interview to make sure everything was accurate - and to allow him to better convey his thoughts. Funny thing, Joel Sonora's English has improved so much the past few years. At the 2015 U-20 WC, his English was poor. Now he's very good in a conversation.
