Exactly. This team just does not know how to close out a game after taking the lead. They have much to learn from Atl Madrid.

You should be extra HAPPY that they really had to work for it this season and won it on the last day instead of in early April.

Different leagues, different teams. It's apples to oranges.

I hope he does well at Chelsea. Let's wait and see.

    only partially true.

imagine what would have happened if farve simply played him instead of bruun freaking larsen in a few games.

every time i play that scenario in my head bvb win the league.

Correct, end of the day, we score one more goal than the opponent - it's three points. But BVB lost the league by allowing those leads to become ties. That 3-0 lead vs Hoffenheim, for FFS!!!!

Looking back a lot of the blame is with BVB's front office. They have received a ton of money the last few years selling players and yet they didn't have a quality starting #9 and not one standout central defender. They always seem to have too many of certain players and not nearly enough of others. That is understandable to lesser, poorer reams but they could have spent some of that cash and likely gotten it back with a Bundesliga title and possibly a champions league crown with player improvement in two spots. The FO did do a great job in central midfield by adding some steel and possibly the best super sub ever.

Yep, I know it's just "reversion to the mean" but no other Bund team I can recall, gave up a 3 goal lead this season, forget in the last 20 minutes.

Turning that game from a 1 pointer to a 3 pointer would not have been enough with GD, but there were at least 2 others (ET PK goal being one) that a championship team should have been able to put away.

I just realized the German magazine Spiegel has a rating system SPIX. Not sure if they just rebrand some other rating.
Cherundolo is tough to beat as 'most sucessful' Ami in the bundesliga. Captained the team, fans loved him, he was a rock solid consistent player and was there 11 years.

And he helped his club achieve solid mid-table status.

There was one season where Hannover were close to getting a CL spot.

Not sure how you mean that, but my opinion is that it is a good thing. The goal back then (and for example this year they failed) was for H96 to stay up. Cherundolo consistently contributed to that goal. H96 was not a championship side by any means, but they were a solid BL team.

I'm confused by your confusement. Hannover was a small team with little money, but they persevered and achieved midtable status on a number of occasions. That's not to shabby and in 2010-11, they finished 4th. A big accomplishment.

Well, it is a lack of confusement I think. I wasn’t confused, I only wasn’t sure if you meant that ‘H96 was a solid midtable team’ as good or bad. Then I proceeded to express myself poorly.

Your statement could have been sarcastic ‘solid midtable team’ that, for example, pales in comparison to the mighty BVB Dortmund and Pulisic’, or, a sincere complimentary ‘solid midtable team’. Anyhoo, I think I know now how you meant it and I share the same humble opinion: Cherundolo was an American soccer hero.

Oh I feel ya. Nah,sorrry. I meant that this was a positive. It's a shame he's so often overlooked. But I'm happy at least his club values his contributions over the years.

He probably could have made the list by age 19. Not that many Yanks had significant success there.

Joe Enochs also played for a German team for a long time. I love me some Dolo, and "successful career" has many definitions, but there is a gulf between what Dolo/Hannover's career was, and CP/BVB's has been...
