Its a weird one. The other two FCD youngsters have already left. I wonder if Tab has told Pax that he needs to see him play that game against LAFC this weekend before officially bringing him on the trip. [with Aaronson ready to go as the backup plan.] To me we're cutting this one really close.

Midfielder Paxton Pomykal (hamstring strain) will also miss Thursday’s match, though he could be available for the sides' rematch in Texas on Sunday. Then next week, he would join teammates Edwin Cerrillo and Brandon Servania on the US roster for the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup. Cerrillo and Servania already departed for the U-20 camp following Saturday's loss.

“Paxton, he’s going to get on the ball by the end of the week,” Gonzalez said. “Then we’ll make a decision whether he’s cleared for the weekend.”

Ha! Well done, you got me. Without knowing where everyone is from, it makes it difficult to know who rates which player. I’ve had some serious debates over some bad players on here

Based on Tabs comments, the backup is more likely Amaya than Aaronsen.

The Toronto v DCU MLS stat sheet shows that Durkin played the full 90 minutes in a scoreless draw, and that DC coach Ben Olsen cleverly employed a 'bend-but-don't-break' strategy, conceding 35 shots, 13 on target, and 72% possession to Toronto.

This is without Durkin and Pomykal who arrived late, and will likely take the spots of Cerrillo and Servania for the first game. That looks pretty close to our starting XI. I wonder why Keita is starting instead of McKenzie. Is McKenzie not fit? The only other consideration I'd throw out there is that Servania is wearing the armband. Are you going to name a back up the captain in a game where you are starting most of your first choice players?

Richards scores in the 32nd. 1-1. Game appears to be in the 2nd half though I don't know Spanish and for some reason the translate function on Twitter isn't working

Into the second half now. Richards canceled out a Keita own goal.

Do we know for certain that Pomykal is in Poland? I thought he was still rostered for FCD through tomorrow?

Still 1-1 in minute 65. Uly is in the game. It’s odd having to get updates on Uruguay’s youth twitter account. Uruguay players have lots of tattoos.

Not odd. Typical US Soccer cloak and dagger. They are smarter than everybody. Got to keep those secrets.

Someone in the YNT-eligible MLS thread said he left three days ago for Poland.

Who gets the armband may be a surprise. In the recent Spain match, for example, Akinola got it for a game even when Real started. (In the France match, the U.S. lineup doesn't include a captain, and I'm too lazy to look for a squad photo.)

From the pictures on the Uruguay twitter account it looks like he's there but dressed in sweats. Not sure what to make of that...

Here is the photo for reference:

It doesn't look like McKenzie dressed either.

Nor did Ayo. They went with 7 on the bench, so I'm guessing they played like it was an official match.

Indeed, the "athleisure" trend has confounded many of my generation.

It's a progression from last Saturday when he was all dressed up and on the field with Dirk Nowitzki. Dirk scarfed the Lamar Hunt statue and they feted him during halftime. Pax was there with him at halftime. So dressed up --> sweats --> uniform!

Fashion opinions aside, I'm concerned that we may have brought two injured players (Paxton, McKenzie) over two players who are starting and playing extremely well in MLS (Aaronson, Sands). The latter two should have been on the roster anyways, but it feels like the team is not nearly as strong as it should be. Hopefully Pax and McKenzie are ready to go for the first game and just being rested as a precaution.

hmmm....its just a friendly and doesn't matter...but the ugly pattern of mis-management seems poised to continue.....trying hard not to be critical....will wait for the actual matches to do so...(if necessary)
