I think this could have been a factor. I understand being unstoppable on the wing but at the end of the day if you make a great run leaving two defenders behind and then shoot the ball to the stars that play was pointless. However I do not know how some of the other guys who were called up are better, like Neres for example who is not even Ajax’s best forward.
Neres right now (and in the R16 tie) is undoubtedly the better player. But Everton? Richarlison? C'mon. He said he was ready to play back in April. We're two weeks into May and all he's got is a measly 30 minute sub appearance, this is all on Zidane. Solari would have had this kid flying.
Vini could perfect by called instead of Everton "Cebolinha", Everton is a pure waste of time, everyone knows he will not be in the next world cup, and, Paquetá, Coutinho, Jesus, Fernandinho, Fagner, these not deserve to be called, but this stopped being the Brazilian team for some time, now is "The Tite Team",
You could be right . I just remembered him missing a 1 on 1 vs Courtois that looked very similar to Vini’s misses where he is totally off target with his shot, also didn’t know he also scored a great goal against Juve. Richarlison I know nothing about..
Bizarre decision, typical though for Brazil. Happened before, will keep happening until they get capable coaches.
Haha, don´t hate the Brazil team, hates Tite, Tite, by the way, either he wins the Copa America or he will be fired, his work is VERY contested here and this shit convocation is being criticized everywhere, the Globo Esporte (Biggest national sport site) made a list of who was forgotten today, and, the results... http://interativos.globoesporte.glo.../quem-faz-mais-falta-na-lista-da-copa-america
MARCA: Vinicius Junior will NOT feature in Castilla's play-off matches. Real Madrid want to reward the players who played the entire season with Castilla & let them fight for promotion.— M•A•J (@Ultra_Suristic) May 17, 2019
Top goals scorers in the Premier League 2018 / 2019 season (outside the top 6): Jamie Vardy - 18 Callum Wilson - 14 Richarlison - 13 Raúl Jiménez - 13 Glenn Murray - 13 Gylfi Sigurdsson - 13 Like it or not, Vin is NOT a goal scorer at this point. Richarlison is. Sounds harsh, but as @Digital Said, VJ needs to improve a lot in scoring department to get into the squad
When Tite gets fired in a humiliating fashion, remember this post. I can't believe I wanted Tite to manage Madrid last summer.. ugh
And that's what Firmino, Gabriel Jesus, Neymar, etc. are for. Plus Vinicius played all of about 3 months. If he had played from the beggining of the season and not been injured I don't have a hard time believing he could have cracked 13 goals. And in a side like Everton he would have been first choice from day one.
In approximately 1600 minutes, Vinicius has 3 goals 12 assists in all competitions for a total of 15 G+A. In approximately 2800 minutes, Richarlison has 14 goals 2 assists in all competitions for a total of 16 G+A. 1200 more minutes for 1 more G+A. Not everything is goals. Vinicius is a creator.
Yes let’s listen to the 18 year old kid tell us when he is fit and not the medical staff. Let’s be real. If he was brought straight back too quickly playing 90 mins in pointless games and got injured we would by lynching Zidane. He was most likely building towards playing 90 mins this weekend anyway. But now when he plays the 90 looks like some people will be saying “told you so”.
I’m really not sure what the debate is about here to be honest, unless you are a die hard Brazil fan, Vin is young and will surely get his chance for the national team, with some luck and dedication he could go on to be one of the best players out there, not going to this comp won’t stop that, or shouldn’t stop that I should say, but he’ll get to relax and be ready to go full throttle for Madrid for pre season and hopefully have a fantastic season, a real breakout one for us, which would be equally as impressive as starring for Brazil i think I can maybe get why Brazilian fans may be a bit disappointed but not sure why Madrid ones would be, him going to this tournament or not doesn’t change anything as far as how he will perform for us IMO, he gets to get fit and be ready to go, sorry he missed this one but I believe he will be a headliner at many more tournaments for Brazil in the future
7 of his assists did come in the Copa del Rey, but yes that is the most on the team in all competitions. 12 assists in 1600 minutes. In 2nd is Benzema with 11 assists, albeit in nearly 4300 minutes 3rd i believe is Modric with 8 assists in nearly 3500 minutes.
It doesn’t hurt him too much not going as he’ll have plenty of opportunities in the future. He plays in Neymar’s position so likely wouldn’t see a minute on the pitch. Neres plays on the other side which is what likely influenced the decision during selection. I really thought in that scenario, Lucas Moura would have been selected over the Ajax forward though. And I don’t think he was competing with Richarlison (who is a striker) for a place so an odd comparison.
Richarlison has shown consistency with Watford too. The guy's a more reliable goal scorer than VJ, who got injured and missed a good part of his first season and he's very crude at this moment. One day he'll surely get better than them all, but this Brazil we're talking about. They have loads of talented players and can afford to try a few combinations on their own
Agreed, especially since Fernandinho and Fagner were the reasons why Brazil lost to Belgium in WC 2018. Fernandinho does not have the legs anymore to play at the international level (irrespective of what he did at Man City); Fabinho should have been there. Alves does not have the legs to play as an RWB anymore either. He does not play that role anymore at PSG. So, Brazil's RB side is extremely weak at the moment. However, there is no proper RB at the moment in Brazil. So, I don't think anyone has been glaringly omitted as such (unlike the Fabinho vs Fernandinho situation).
Vinicius wasn't competing against Richarlison but Neres and Lucas Moura (plus Douglas Costa, Willian etc.). Neres got the nod (because before the last friendly, Vinicius got injured. Neres was called up instead and had a great game). At present, there is a dearth of strikers and RWBs in Brazil. G Jesus isn't working out. Firmino is not a prolific scorer. Richarlison has provided some goals in the matches he has played. So, there is no surprise why Richarlison was chosen.
After a very long time (since 2006), it seems like Brazil has a pool of players with which to create three very good teams (except the striker and RWB positions of course).
