Nah he doesn't have the mental strength for it. He should just go back to Gamba. At least he'll be in good form there most likely.

Usami's story is incredible. Talent-wise, he should have been already on his prime. Instead, at 27 years-old, I'd say that coming back to Japan after already three stints in Germany would be the wisest move available.

At Gamba he'll have the chance of being an absolute star. A partnership w/ Hwang Ui-jo would be even better than the one w/ Patric.

So it sounds like it's just about official that he's returning to Gamba. No surprises there from anyone.

Really thought/hoped he would break through on his second time in Europe... I find it hard to imagine that he'd give a third crack at it even if he picks up his form back in Gamba.

It's over now I think. Even if he tried a third time it will end the same way. Too bad, great player when he can and wants.

Let’s hope Takefusa Kubo will not have a similar fate.

Usami is our biggest waste of potential of the last ten years (maybe with Morimoto, considering how much we need a good central FW)

This is why I fell skeptics about Kubo's transfer to Madrid: way too soon.
Usami even had 1~2 matches with senior team in his first year in Munich, but it didn't help him at all.
Kubo can speak Spanish and used to live in Spain though.

Usami had no luck in Germany. I don't think it's talent problem. In some of his good matches in Hoffenheim, he didn't look worse than Firmino. But after that, one of them fully developed in Europe, the other couldn't.

Feels kind of typical for asian players , why I don't know. The talent is there, had some magical goals also. Mostly with Hoffenheim.

I really hope Kubo impresses this coming season with Castilla B and hopefully get loaned to a lower or even mid-table club in La Liga. Wouldn't want him to waste his potential like Usami. He needs to play consistently to develop as a player.
