.@JrMoreno8 will not be with the team during our trip to Toronto. He has traveled back home to be with his friends and family. Our prayers are with you Junior ❤️🙏— D.C. United (@dcunited) May 15, 2019 Means Durkin is going to Start tomorrow and maybe even Saturday depending on when Moreno gets back.
And now we know why Servania is on the roster instead of Araujo or Amon. The wise man Ramos can see the future.
Other than his last stint with the Galaxy (which sure seemed like a last hurrah to try to win a trophy), Arena has by and large been a champion of the American player. Its gonna take a long time to rebuild the New England organization. The stadium situation is poor, the training ground is inadequate, they've fallen way behind in their academy investment, etc. etc. The list of problems is endless. For a long time the Revs got by with drafting players and picking up players from the MLS scrap heap. I don't think Stevie Nicol gets enough credit for consistently winning with that organization. [Even in MLS 1.0] The Krafts have been comically slow to adapt to the new MLS. Really, academy player inclusion is probably item #593 of Bruce Arena's "To Do List." You gotta invest in the academy before you can count on a stream of academy player of MLS quality. It just seems like dumb luck that they've had a couple of good academy players come thru. They're probably 10 years behind the top academy programs like RSL, NYRB, Philly, and FCD. And they're at least 5 years behind the rapidly advancing "fast followers" like Seattle.
It really can't get worse in New England but Arena is a curious choice as seemingly time has passes him by like it did Kinnear. To make it he will have to completely re-invent both his general managing and coaching. Is he up for it or will this be a another crushing blow to his ego? perhaps he's the one to convince Kraft to join the party and have a Boston area stadium and a real academy. I'm skeptical.
Derrick Jones '97 will be with Nashville SC next season and they have sent on loan to the Nashville USL team. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...cquire-derrick-jones-trade-philadelphia-union
At this point if he can’t make it in MLS at his age I’m not sure he’s a real NT prospect. Although let’s hope he still turns things around next season. I’m always for seeing an American on the pitch over a foreign player.
I spy Bryan Reynolds on the trip to LA...………(as well as Roberts and Nelson). It would be cool to finally get him his MLS debut. Four days. Two matches. One opponent. Next stop, LA! 🌴 #DTID pic.twitter.com/hPFSQyB7cG— FC Dallas (@FCDallas) May 15, 2019

Bwana beats Acosta for a goal After video review, the goal stands! Bwana doubles the lead for @SoundersFC #SEAvORL https://t.co/8Y6Gxga85m— Major League Soccer (@MLS) May 16, 2019
That video doesn’t show that Orlando lost the ball in their own half and was scrambling to defend because of it. Acosta was caught up field and played no part in his team losing the ball playing out of the back. It’s unrealistic to expect him to have recovered to that run by Bwana. Maybe now he’s sorted out what the issue was in Orlando. He went two months without playing after playing well the first three games by all accounts.
Pomykal was supposed to play yesterday. Is he still injured or they instead decided to send him to Poland already?
I heard Pomykal is fine and they are saving him so he can have a big U20WC. Things may be in the works to sell him very soon to Europe after the U20WC for a hefty fee.
Good question. Are they going to give him some minutes Sunday or are all players supposed to be gone already?
Presumably he'd rather get to 100% fitness in Dallas than Poland, right? That seems like the logical reason he's still there even if he's not playing. Also, based on the ESPN article, I'm concerned about Pax not moving to Europe fast enough:
Never know for sure but I talked to a source pretty close to the situation. Talk is he is now worth 5million in transfer and they think that will jump significantly after the U20WC. Only question then is will FCD do the right thing and let him go?
They could wait until the end of the season like Alphonso Davies or do a deal which allows him to be loaned back like Zach Steffen. That may be the ideal.
You may be a bit confused on this one, because its confusing. FCD actually has two games against LAFC in a row. Thursday and Sunday. So Luchi's comments from earlier in the week indicating that he's going to play against LAFC...................always referred to the game on Sunday. If they have a bid around 5 million (or above), then they'll jump at it. Particularly if there's a sell-on fee. I do like the idea that was mentioned above. Sell him in this window if the price is right, but negotiate a loan back to FCD to complete this season. Basically what Chelsea/Dortmund just did with Pulisic. If FCD is positioning itself as a developmental club, its really crucial that they continue to sell these kids when the right offers come in (like with Richards). That'll give the next group of talented youngsters more confidence in signing MLS/USL deals in the first place. Keep the assembly line moving...........................If Pax is gone that opens up playing time for Thomas Roberts next season. Then they can promote David Rodriguez or Tanner Tessman (or whomever) to the first team as well. Is FCD going to win MLS Cup this way? No. So that's the problem from a fan base point of view (particularly the casual fans. The diehards like folks that post on these boards understand). Luckily there isn't a demand from fans to "Win Now" in Frisco. Nobody is paying attention.
