    Televised on Fs1.
Apparently both Kraft and Roman are donating $1M to the cause.
If this were the first 4-1 scoreline of the year, Brad might still have his job... but thats my prediction.

Not that it really matters, but Lapper will still be coaching tonight, right? I would imagine a lot of the players will be eager to impress in their first chance in the new era. Then again, a lot of guys will likely get a run-out, since the game that matters is this weekend.

Correct. I believe I read that Arena doesn't even arrive in Foxboro until Thursday.

I asked Lemieux on twitter and he said it'd be Lapper on the sidelines.

Would be nice to see rennicks, buchanan, jones, angking and firmino get some minutes.

Personally I don't want to see Gil anywhere near the field.

    Also -
    - Wright still on the bench.
    - Herivaux was in some of the photos of the team activities with CFC this week; so, he's local, so likely available

Gil himself might want to put on a good showing against EPL talent.

Field looks horrific. They couldn't have installed it before the San Jose game?

Under the circumstances, that’s a bad choice for a thread title.

Did anyone else notice how fast Arena switched from coffee to beer?
I predicted this would end 4-1.
Happy we didn't concede as many as I thought, sucks we didn't sneak one.
Overall, a game that means nothing.
Heriveaux sucks way worse than everybody on the roster. including Firmino.

You could tell the chelsea players were playing slow due to the poor sod conditions. And even with that the Revs were severely outclassed by the 3rd string youth teamers. Long way for the roster to go.

Topic title is a little cynical, don't you think? It's a charity match with both owners donating a reported $1M each.
Revs were thoroughly outclassed, no surprise there - the two teams are so many levels apart. I thought Chelsea had a couple of mercy-misses (yes, I made that up), including one right before halftime.

Gil showed really well, good to see, but he had to play too deep to really help spur scoring chances. Wright showed that at least he will take shots (and put some on goal). Agudelo proved that after 10 years as a pro, he still doesn't know how to keep a shot down.

Caldwell looked pretty solid (I'm hoping he wasn't the cause of the injury, but I suspect he might have been) and Zahibo wasn't bad either. Overall, the Revs looked very static and 'spectator-like', in contrast to Chelsea who were fluid, always looking to make smart runs.

Firmino looked pretty good to me. Buchanan had a couple of nice moments, but was only around for the first 30'.

i watched on FS1. It was a good relaxed atmosphere, some players showing off skills - Zahibo pulled off a cryuff turn and fooled two Chelsea players in front of our own 18, earning applause from the Chelsea bench. That was the revs-related highlight.

Sarri is not a happy camper today. Supposedly he didn't want anything to do with having to play this match.

He was running with the ball, Fagundez was buzzing around him, it wasn't clear if Fagundez clipped him or not (I don't think he did but I'm not 100% sure), and Loftus-Cheek went down in a lot of pain and remained down. Had to be helped off the field. The ref called a foul and talked sternly to Fagundez (who seemed bewildered at the foul), but none of the Chelsea players seemed upset with Fagundez at all. Much more likely that the sod was to blame IMO.

I think the cause of the injury was the crappy field. He caught his foot in a seem.

If Chelsea insisted on playing on grass it may have come back to bite them.

Everyone seemed to be playing gingerly on the field. I dont think it was installed correctly, because bits of it were coming up all over the place. In addition to the RLC injury Buchannon also left the field with a knock, but his appears to be less serious

Closeup slo-mo detail replay of the Loftus-Cheek injury is at 69:00 of the broadcast. It looks to have happened during a multistep move by Loftus, planting his left foot apparently to push right with the ball.

I watched it frame by frame, sad that it happened at all, but also hoping that it was purely non-contact.

Some chatter on social media that Caldwell had a role in the injury. But, when it happens, Scott Caldwell isn't yet close enough to make contact with Loftus-Cheeks.

Diego Fagundez (having just turned over the ball) is closing from behind L-C, and his left foot is midstride near the inside of Loftus's left calf just prior to injury.

It appears that Diego's left leg made contact with backswing of Loftus-Cheek's' left leg midstep, L-C's left leg then proceeds to snap forward much faster than his normal strides in prior frames.

Loftus-Cheek's next left foot landing is at an awkward angle and at full speed, and that is apparently where the ankle was injured, based on L-C's immediate reaction.

No shirt pull apparent at any point despite some claims elsewhere on Twitter.

I had originally thought this was non-contact, but it looks like Diego got his foot between Loftus-Cheeks legs, from behind. It does look like Diego was a contributor to the circumstances.

One take is that Diego was trying to slow up L-C, with a small tap on his heels, maybe a planned hand on the back.. But there's another take that it was incidental contact

(...but the more I watch, the less I think that's the case; I think Diego was unhappy with his turnover and lost concentration, and let himself pull a borderline dirty revenge foul, albeit it with very little contact prior to the injury.)
