The 2nd round pairings are out for the 2019 U.S. Open Cup. https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...ound-pairings-host-scenarios-2019-us-open-cup Indy will host the winner of Lansing Ignite and AFC Ann Arbor (NPSL) on May 14 or 15 at the Sellick Bowl in Indianapolis. Just a guess but if Indy advances there is a good chance that they will meet the winner of the Louisville City v. Reading/Philadelphia Lone Star 2nd round match. Or maybe the winner of Pittsburgh v. Erie/Dayton.
The 2nd Round of the Open Cup is set: Wednesday, May 15 Indy Eleven (USL-C) v. Lansing Ignite FC (USL-1) 7:00 pm ESPN+ The 3rd round is May 28-29. The winner of this match will advance to play another Round 2 winner.
If the Indy Eleven defeat Lansing on Wednesday they will either host the Dayton Dutch Lions or travel to Pittsburgh Riverhounds on May 29.
That's kind of too bad for historical reasons. Wasn't a US Open Cup game against Dayton Indy's first victory back in 2014? It would have been nice to beat up on them again. That's assuming, of course, that Indy can win tonight.
Indy Eleven (USL Championship) 0, St. Louis CITY2 (MLS Next PRO) 2 https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...-first-cupsets-of-2022-lamar-hunt-us-open-cup Ezra Armstrong put his family’s name back on the list of U.S. Open Cup goal scorers. The son of U.S. Soccer Hall of Famer Desmond Armstrong, Ezra scored St. Louis CITY2’s first tournament ever goal in its first tournament win at Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis, IN. Armstrong scored a left-footed screamer in the 18th minute to give the visitors the lead, controlling a ball inside the box from captain Josh Yaro before blasting it past Indy Eleven goalkeeper Timothy Trik. Wan Kuzain earned a yellow card in the 70th minute before scoring an insurance goal two minutes later for CITY2. Celio Pompeu Martins, who had the club’s first-ever goal back in February, came on in the second half and had the assist. CITY2 now moves on to the Third Round, scheduled for April 19-21.
