Whether it be mentions on TV, Billboards, bus benches, vehicle decals, sports bars?

Is it efforts by the club or organic from the fans?

In Montreal, I feel the Impact are treated like a "real" sports team by the media, and you'll see people with gear walking around town, but you never really see much billboards or ads. They started a bit more this season with bus stop ads.

http://www.espn.com/new-york/ has tabs for the nine teams in NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB. Moving your mouse over "More" has links for the Red Bulls, NYCFC, and the Liberty in the WNBA.

Mural on the exterior of Jack's Bar in San Jose's Japantown. Jack's is the American Outlaws bar and those in town for USMNT games may have been there already.

. . . In the end, the design encompasses a San Jose feel, while reflecting Japantown and featuring Quakes legend Chris Wondolowski.

The mural features a circuit board design with lines and circles running through it to give a more Silicon Valley and San Jose vibe. It also has a Lotus-plant with a couple of bars running through it, which is Japantown’s unofficial logo and is featured at the intersection of Fifth and Jackson . . .

North of Denver there is almost zero presence.

    Literally none.

I was in Cincy recently and was gobsmacked by how much CFC stuff I saw.

Houston Dynamo are a virtual team that only exists on the internet outside Houston. Actually doesn't exist in Houston at all. Any pictures of video is all a soundstage in Hollywood.

Some in Columbus, but a lot less than in 1996. Was in Cincy for the match last night and saw a fair bit of FCC stuff.

Seattle has a good deal of presence all around the city. From Scarfs, banners, and jerseys at all the teams Pub Partners, to multiple murals. People wearing gear on the regular in the streets. Lightrail stops have ads for the team more often than not.

As someone whose then hometown team was stolen and put on hiatus so Houston could have a team that kinda pisses me off.

As for presence in my current home of San Diego... MLS only has a presence when someone is talking about bringing a team here (ala SoccerCity last year). Otherwise it’s largely irrelevant. Only Club Tijuana and the new USL side have any real presence in town.

The Timbers presence in Portland is everywhere. Club and fans. You see Timbers everywhere all the time. From advertising, to apparel to other stuff. It's quite the thing. Heck, it's even present on a new TV show.

In Denver you see a billboard on occasion and a 5 to 10 second mention in the news after a game.

The Blazers are still king in Portland, but the difference is less than the difference between the Cubs and White Sox in Chicago.

What is the difference between the Cubs and Sox? Because the only analogue I know really closely is the Giants and A’s in the Bay Area. And the A’s coverage is akin to a JV team by comparison.

For years the Cubs were on TV around the country on WGN.

The Cubs would typically get a full 2-3 minute highlight reel and discussion in the news. The Sox typically would get runs and the occasional weird play, for 30 seconds tops, with an immediate move onwards.

Is this a phrase? Sounds like someone describing their bowl movements to a doctor. I'm so out of touch.
I feel like Dr. Evil trying to convince Scottie he is cool.

I'm in Long Beach but I do recall seeing Galaxy with billboards in some parts of LA though its clear LAFC has loads of Mexican supporters here.

Does anyone have a good, solid analysis on LAFC and whether they truely have attracted the great American soccer yeti, the Mexican soccer fan, to become an MLS fan? If they did -- how did they do it? Is it all Vela? Or is there another component to the recipe?

I don't know enough but it must be the HYPE factor. It's a new club and they seem firmly rooted with the young demo.

You see ads for NYCFC in subways and buses. Sometimes Red Bull’s but mostly NYCFC. They are never a topic of conversation in sports media though. Soccer in general.
