I don't see PSV selling Bergwijn, unless there's a major shake-up happening that includes Van Bommel leaving. That said, for the sake of his development, when/if Bergwijn leaves this Summer, I would rather see him at Ajax if that means he's staying at Eredivisie. He really needs at least another 2 years to refine his game before moving abroad. Plus, Ajax would give him the opportunity to play at a more competitive UCL.

I really have a good feeling about Bergwijn turning into a solid player... good enough for the top European clubs. I think he could potentially become a rich man's Memphis Depay. So I am hopeful he makes the wise move!!

  6. Wijnaldum didnot need Ajax to become what he's now.
We have a seperate thread for transfer discussions. Please keep it there, especially when it's about internal Eredivisie moves!
@Orange14 Is it useful to move some posts about transfers, also in the Netherlands threads, to the transfer thread?

Things are getting very dark over here. We had dinner with friends on Saturday and discussion about Trump cancelling the 2020 presidential election because of a national emergency were quite serious.

EU countries and China want cheap oil and Iran plays a big role there. US policy is just bad.

  8. You must be joking. He wasnot very good against Feyenoord and Ten Hag has better options at hand with Kik Pierie and Per Schuurs.

Brian Brobbey is a striker and on the Dutch U-17 NT.

I think Brobbey would be a star one day, but I am not sure about next season. He would be hard pressed to get playing time with Ajax senior have so many attackers on the payroll. Plus, I don't think he is part of Jong Ajax set up yet (maybe I am wrong here), so might be too big of jump for him. Not that it's anything wrong with that.

My money is on Gravenberch to make a meteoric rise, a la De Jong or De Ligt. The talent is certainly there... and Ajax midfield will be thin with Frenkie leaving, Ziyech high probability departing, Van de Beek subject to constant rumor, Schone getting older and slower, etc. Though Ajax will likely buy new midfield players, I think Gravenberch will compete for playing times.

Brobbey played for the U-19 Ajax team. Remember the club has both Traore (who got in for the final minute on Sunday) and Pereira (a Brazilian) who both played at the striker position at Jong Ajax. I cannot see Brobbey getting a match next season.

With our $200 million budget increase we will have this summer, we can afford both players for at least half a season next year

Unfortunately he would go to PSV way before he would go to Ajax.

But I'd love to have him though.
Rumor is he wants to go to MLS

What a nice celebration after the championship win. Celebration kits have Nouri's picture on the sleeve, a fitting tribute to a gentle warrior who will always be missed by us. Pretty routine performance by Ajax against one of the bottom table teams. They had incredible possession and a high passing percentage.

    Player Ratings:

Onana (6) - nothing to do today
Tagliafico (7) - got the match winner
Blind (7) - decent defending and great passing
de Ligt (7.5) - thought he was a winger on occasion; is this his last Ajax match?
Mazraoui (6) - quiet performance with little defending to do
Schöne (7) - great free kick and probably will have a reduced roll next season
de Jong (7) - off to Barca with two trophies won; some very nice passing in this one
van de Beek (7) - tireless as ever and really hope he will be back next season
Tadic (7.5) - 2nd goal was a beauty; he is my player of the year
    Huntelaar (6.5) - good enough
Ziyech (6.5) - a little subdued today in what was probably his last match
Kristensen (6) - better game today but question about his ability remain
Dolberg (5.5) - got a couple of touches but needs to raise his game for next season
de Wit (NR) - on late

It's going to be a different team next season but they can always look back on what was achieved this year!!!

Matusiwa has already been told that he is not going to be asked back by Ajax. The new recruit from Belgium, Razvan Marin who is a starter for the Romanian NT will be de Jong's replacement.

EDIT: Ajax really have a lot of MFs; van de Beek (if he stays), Schöne (likely to be more of sub), Sinkgraven, Labyad, Tadic (may move between forward and MF), de Wit, Lang, Gravenberch, Ekkelenkamp. I'm not sure if there are any youth players who can break in right now and of course Ajax have money for transfers.

Ajax played 59 matches this past season with the run to the CL semi-finals, the Beker win, and the Eredivisie win. I rated players in 48 of those matches, missing mostly Beker games where I could not get a reliable stream. Here are the player rankings for all the matches I watched. Blind, van de Beek and Tadich played in all 48 matches. If a player was on too briefly and got an NR, that game is not counted in the calculation of points per game. de Ligt and Tadic were the two outstanding players by my ratings. It's interesting to remember that Eiting was a starter at the beginning of the season until he had to have knee surgery. Wober, Serhuis and Johnsen were all transfered during the season. (sorry for the poor formatting but pasting from an Excel Spreadsheet doesn't quite leave the right spacing and I cannot manually fix it).

    Onana 47 6.5
    Tagliafico 42 6.5
    Blind 48 6.5
    de Ligt 46 7
    Mazraoui 40 6
    Schone 44 6
    de Jong 44 6.5
    van de Beek 48 6.5
    Neres 41 6.5
    Tadic 48 7
    Ziyech 43 6.5
    Dolberg 32 6
    Huntelaar 33 6
    Eiting 10 6
    Serhuis 2 5
    Wober 10 6
    Labyad 13 6
    Kristensen 15 6
    de Wit 7 5.5
    Johnsen 1 5.5
    Gravenberch 1 NR
    Schuurs 1 NR
    Sinkgraven 11 6
    Lamprou 1 4.5
    Magallan 4 4.5
    Veltman 14 6.5
    Ekkelenkamp 4 6
    Lang 3 6
    Traore 1 NR
