Another week of MLS action is nearly upon us. This week features more midweek action too. All game times are Eastern, and national TV games are noted. All non-national TV games can be seen on your local affiliate or streaming on ESPN+. Remember, this is the MLS N&A game thread, KEEP.IT.NEUTRAL. Can Roldan hit yet another long range volley? Will Philly continue it's streak of stellar play? Will the Rapids finally break their 2019 duck? Can Dom Dwyer score a goal? How will VAR dumbfound and confuse us this week? Will the deadcat bounce continue for the Revs and FCC? Can LAFC sweep the weekend series with FC Dallas? Let's find out! Wednesday, May 15 TFC vs DCU 8:00PM HOU vs POR 8:30PM VAN vs ATL 10:00PM SEA vs ORL 10:30PM Thursday, May 16 LAX vs FCD 10:00PM ESPN2 Saturday, May 18 MTL vs NER 1:00PM RSL vs TFC 3:00PM SJE vs CHI 3:30PM UniVision / Twitter PHL vs SEA 7:30PM MNU vs CBS 8:00PM HOU vs DCU 8:30PM SKC vs VAN 8:30PM Sunday, May 19 FCD vs LAX 3:00PM ORL vs FCC 3:00PM NYR vs ATL 5:00PM FS1 LAG vs COL 8:00PM
Can the Rapids set a new record for longest winless streak to start the year? (And I didn't realize our game overlapped with the finale of Game of Thrones. Good odds i watch the second half on delay.
Good news, Seawolves fans! After a dominating first half performance, the Seawolves were able to hold on for an away victory against RUNY and vaulted back into playoff position. Unfortunately, Toronto also continued their winning ways with victories over Austin and Utah. San Diego Legion officially took over 1st place in the standings after defeating NOLA Gold on the road. In this week's games, NOLA, San Diego, and RUNY should all walk their way to victories as they face Houston, Utah, and Austin, respectively. The only "interesting" match this week should be the Seawolves' away match against Glendale. Anything less than a victory would put the Seawolves out of playoff position, but with their other two remaining games against be at home against bottom of the table dwellers Austin and Utah, they wouldn't be in unrecoverable positions. They'll also want to pile up the wins in these final three matches of the regular season if they want to have any home games, otherwise they'll be away against very tough competition in likely 1st and 2nd seeds San Diego and NOLA.
Wait, LAFC gets 2 games back to back against Dallas? What the ever-loving heck! That is atrocious scheduling.
Hmm. The wife is getting induced Wednesday evening. Might make viewing the Timbers game ....... problematic to say the least lol
There's a rumor going around that Don Garber personally apologized to Montreal for their goal being disallowed. I don't buy it. While it looks to have been the wrong call, it was pretty darn close. Estimated onside by about 9 inches so a bad call but not some incredible injustice or anything. It's about the same as the Royer goal that was disallowed for RBNY. Flag should have stayed down, but it wasn't clear enough for video review in the opinion of the VAR. PRO supported the non-review on Royer so I'd be pretty surprised if they flip on this one, but I don't have that info yet.
-He admitted that his referees made a mistake. He also tried to put some pressure on the city to exempt the club from some taxes...not happening in a million year. Even the Montreal Canadiens aren't getting favors, not by lack of trying... let alone Impact. He then said that Montreal business community needs to do more to get involved with the club and the league... somewhat of a hard sell as most of them do business within Canada... He said that Montreal will have more weekday games to allow businessman to go to the stadium after work...ouch... he doesn't that city, especially due to the stadium location. The club would like to revitalize the area around the stadium to increase the client experience...but, the province who owns the grounds would have to approve...Maybe... Garber said Montreal must expect to have home games in March, hence perhaps implementing a heating system for the field but... the owner would have to see if it's worth it if the city will just raise their taxes for any improvements they do to the stadium. The article in a nutshell Not trying to be negative in my comments, but Saputo Estate is one of the richest in the country, so crying over tax won't get anyone's sympathy. Also, he deliberately choose the Olympic Stadium grounds at at time where downtown land was plentiful & cheap...for me, that's a massive mistake that will keep hunting the club overall, hence, his hesitation in spending on the stadium... all that would do would be raising the taxes on the stadium with no guarantee of increase of revenues & fans. The location is a turn off for suburbans and anyone not living near a subway station...
jfc Don Garber is an ass. He was the one who decided to cut Kaku's suspension down to two additional games, as well. I had thought Jeff Agoos was making those calls.
Sorry for the delay, but I find the disallowed goal in Cincinnati for @impactmontreal to be onside by ~9 inchesNote I am using @DLovitz11's foot and not his shoulder for the point to evaluate. Using @kwaston88's shoulder for the line, though his foot is only 1" further back pic.twitter.com/7Yj0jLUVe6— SoccerPhotogrammetry AKA "A Nice Gentleman" (@OffsideModeling) May 13, 2019 If he's apologizing for this, did he apologize to RSL last year when Latif Blessing was miles offside and the VAR completely fell asleep? What makes this particular incident so special that you need to feed a fanbase's persecution complex? I just don't get Don Garber these days.
Just some kind of damage control. There's a "perception" by the media, fans and players that the league doesn't respect the club. Lovitz was the one making the critic publically and he's American.
The nice thing about our modern world is you can always record things and watch them later. Have someone video record the birth
