DeJong and deLigt transfer updates (keep in mind this is the Daily Mail and not always accurate): https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...celona-delayed-Mino-Raiola-wants-20-cent.html https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...der-Ivan-Rakitic-nearing-43m-Inter-Milan.html
Still angry with the way the team played in the 2nd half. I hold the coach mostly accountable for this. Not many will remember the team lost in the final or make it to semi final or quarter final. Quality without results is pointless. Results without quality is boring. What did they achieve? Pointless.
Looks like Ajax will be signing Argentine LB, Lisandro Martinez for €7M. He is 21 years old and has been capped once by the NT.
Maybe ten Hag should have called a time out; oh wait, you cannot do this in soccer. At some point you have to trust that the players can figure things out on the pitch and make adjustments. Unfortunately, this time they did not.
Based on some Youtube clips, he looks promising. That being said, I am curious how he would fit in with Blind who has been one of our top players this season, Kik Pierie who is supposed to be the next big thing for Dutch football and Tagliafico who is going to stay for another season "which means that Blind won't play as a LB".
AZ defeat PSV in Alkmaar 1-0 so it would require a massive win by PSV and a loss by Ajax on Wednesday to see the second piece of silverware taken away from Amsterdam. Good match against Utrecht other than the opening goal. Ajax were dominant in all phases of the game and it was a good send off for the supporters and those players who saw their last home action in the Arena. Player Ratings: Onana (6) - really had nothing to do and had no chance at the opening goal Tagliafico (6.5) - good match Blind (6.5) - pretty solid de Ligt (7) - couldn't win the header on the opening goal but solid after that Veltman (6.5) - went forward with some purpose and didn't have much defending to do de Jong (7) - only one bad pass as he bossed the MF Mazraoui (6.5) - a couple of poor passes but a rocket shot that the keeper saved van de Beek (7) - all over the pitch as usual and the strong header got the match winner Tadic (7.5) - cool as a cucumber in this match and showed great ball control Huntelaar (7) - nice goal to tie the match and had a couple of other opportunities Ziyech (7.5) - wow did he ever put pressure on Utrecht Schöne (6) - good performance in relief of Mazraoui Sinkgraven (NR) - on late Traore (NR) - on for a minute and almost got the fifth goal this will always be a season to remember in spite of the 96th minute against Spurs. Major shout out to ten Hag
I for one will remember it only because of the 96th minute against Spurs. Still . Kudos to the team that won the double, a feat that seemed unlikely at the start of the season. As for ten Hag, I'm still sitting on the fence. If only he was more flexible with players rotation...
You know it's the giant killer "De Graafschap" you're dealing with in the last match!!! Do you still wake up screeming and sweaty after a nightmare of that match a couple of years ago?
Something like this happened in the CL several years ago when Dinamo Zagreb rolled over for Lyon. Anything can happen
Isn't it time to think about locking him in for a longer period? Also, now that the season's over, any chance you might do those aggregate player rankings we were talking about a few weeks ago?
Hi guys, it's been a long time. Very proud to see Ajax renew with its prestige. If the right decisions are made, we can continue to surprise all of Europe.
I was thinking of that exact game when I made my post. Lyon had not scored more than 2 goals all tournament, and suddenly they knock in 7 And remember the wink??
I just saw on Ajax Showtime that Ajax will have to go through two qualification rounds to make it to the group stage of the Champions League. Of course this is done to please the automatic group stage qualifiers from the "big" leagues. This just sucks!! All the Dutch clubs going into European competition need to step it up next season!!!! Show who is boss.
Didnt they qualify for direct spot after beating juventus. Or does to come in to effect from next season
Does anyone else think brian brobbery should get the big break in the ajax first team come the new season like de ligt.
