Technically we have a 100% chance of going to the Pan Am games. Anyone want to guess how many of these guys play in that competition?
Now that he is the Oly team squad it makes sense why he was a scratch in the last NYCFC game. He was on his way to Spain. I hope we get to see a stream of the games or a summary at the very least.
Maybe that is why, although it didn't stop Robinson, Derrick Jones, Ebobisse, Mihailovic, Yueill, etc from not only making their team rosters last weekend, but also playing. For these friendly tournaments I hope they do well, but frankly I am more interested in how they are performing in their relative leagues
Someone on Twitter asked about this and USSF replied that the tournament organizers had not made plans to stream anything, so we might get PBP from the team / reporters but we probably won't get a stream. The best we might get is a Periscope from someone in the stands.
I was wrong (or USSF was misinformed)! Parks started in a 0-2 loss: https://twitter.com/search?q=us u23&src=typd Looked like he was playing as a no. 8 in a flat 4-4-2 (what up Jason Kries). Replay can be found here:
Whoops: The US U23’s kick off against Egypt at 12, with @LoudounUnitedFC / @dcunited CB Donovan Pines starting!Pines is an alum of @DCUyouth, @hcpss_rhhs & @umterps. Locals @erykw19 & @kingjebo are options off the bench!LIVE STREAM: https://t.co/C3BMvZwVE9 pic.twitter.com/UnXsnOGzsv— DMV Soccer (@DMVSoccer96) March 22, 2019
Pretty good. He was playing further up the field, which allows him to get involved in the attack more often, and resulted in a really good shot in the first half that required an equally good save from the Dutch keeper. General consensus online is that he was very solid all game. I hope this helps him get involved a bit more with NYCFC. I also think that NYC buying Herber to play as a striker might result in more playtime and rotation in the midfield.
Parks is not your typical high energy 8. So, with that in mind, if the coach don't like your game, then he will be riding the pine a lot this season.
Surprised at low level of activity on this thread. Keaton came on in 76' and played a classy game in a 2-0 victory @ Galaxy. Looking forward to an all-touches vid courtesy @ShaftBrewer
We can't distract from @ShaftBrewer's more important work of chronicling hard-to-follow euro yanks. To the domestic draft, I say no!
hmm...will keaton get more than 15 min sub appearances at any point this year? or is he locked in as nyc's midfield "supersub" now that lewis has been traded?
A lot of NYCFC fans are also puzzled at Keaton's playtime... he looked solid in those 15 minutes yesterday (8/11 successful passes including one chance created on a great diagonal ball, 1 successful dribble, 3 recoveries, 1 interception, 1 foul committed), and had some great runs that went unrewarded, but still can't get more than 15 minutes under Domme. Is it fitness? Is it skill? Is it just Domme? Who knows. I think we'll find out more about his role on this team at the end of this month when MLS teams enter the open cup and national team players depart for camps.
All in all definitely a solid 15 minutes, and I don't know what more Keaton could do in that time in order to earn more minutes. The big diagonal led to a good chance but probably could have been hit a little better to lead Mitrita towards goal. That's just nitpicking, though. I was really impressed by his close control towards the end of the game where he was being triple teamed and still managed to win a deep throw in and then a corner. His technical ability definitely stands out in the MLS environment. Also, the foul was a crap call and he won the ball in a dangerous location.
