No wonder he doesn't want to come back to MLS... he wouldn't be able to accomplish his specialty.....

So he beat Palmer-Brown by a day to become our third relegated Yank Abroad this season.

Speaking of YAs, looks like the web site is dead, after many years:

RIP Yanks Abroad dot com. You had many good years.

He got 3 goals and 2 assists in 20 matches.

i had higher hopes. So whats his future? Return to Hamburg? A new 2Bundesligsa club? MLS? Eredivisie?

Yea I had browsed the news there after I realized USA felt more relevant beating Italy 1-0 in their own house.

Then realized BS is where it’s at.

I think this time Bobby stays back down in the BL2.

With all the friendlies and the easy group stage, Wood should be able to get back into shape and form in time for the real GC games in the second round. I'd like to see him on the roster.

I'd like to see him in France. I think it would be the right level for him.

Ligue 1 has pretty tight non-EU restrictions and Wood (AFAIK) is an American citizen only, so that might be problematic.

Why does he need a new club to play in BL2? He can stay at HSV for that.

Seriously. Two games left, and HSV are fourth in a 3-way with Paderborn and Union Berlin for second and the playoff place. There's only a point separating them, but HSV have a massively inferior GD. They're also completely out of form at the worst possible moment: the last seven games read LDLDDLL.

It's Paderborn away today. If there ever was a 6-pointer, this is it.

I wouldn't. His knee may not be 100%: he's certainly not moving as freely, quickly, aggressively as he was before he played through injury in 2016-17 to keep HSV up.

Get some rest (mental as well as physical), work on your fitness and stay close to your agent to weigh up any offers. The GC is a distraction he doesn't need right now.

Reasonable take but a counter argument is that playing against CONCACAF minnows at home is a salve for striker’s souls.

This is the right moment for the Sad Trombone© for HSV: They're losing 2-0 and Union is winning 2-0. They'd have to win the final game, Union would have to lose, and they'd also have to make up for a seven goal differential.

    Not happening.

PS: Yay! They fixed the Yanks Abroad web site!

Actually that's a 19(!!) goal difference, with Union also winning their game and surpassing HSV. It's over.

PS: Paderborn scores another, 4-1 and HSV got a 0 GD to Union's +20 (they're beating Magdeburg 2-0).

He just needs to get himself traded to Paderborn or Union or Düsseldorf who are candidates for getting relegated next season. Anything is possible with HSV but they most likely won't get relegated to 3rd Liga

I dunno, seems like a shoe-in at either Colorado or New England.

Bobby remains a hero at Union. That said, they're going to make the relegation playoff, which is against Stuttgart, so probably in 2Bl next season, as well. And definitely broke, as always.

I begrudgingly sit in the stands every week, the attack is not the problem for the Rapids. It's defending. Not saying they couldn't use Wood but they desperately need CB's and a LB.

FWIW, since the current format was introduced the winner has been the BL1 side six out of seven times or seven out of eight times, so it's probably BL2 for them next season. Still, if they can keep their team intact it could give them the belief to come back even stronger next time.

He should go to MLS. He needs to establish a career aside from being a guy who shows up every once and a while and wows people enough to get a contract.

In MLS he could get a few seasons under his belt, and I dare say score some significant goals. He is a good player, but at club level he has always been with horrid teams who can't score.

He needs to get out of Germany if he ever wants to play for the US again.

He is still just 26, in his prime, and could bounce back and be a key player fo the US. But, if we continues to bounce around like he has, several guys will pass him up.
