Diallo missing that absolute sitter a foot away from the net really hurts. Perfect placement by Pulisic

Christian could have angled his turn-around from 16 out a little higher and it would have gone in (and he'd have a 1.5 from Kicker). He was inches from placing it out of reach of the keeper.

Some Pulisic fluff. (BTW, when I become a famous footie player, right after I tell everyone that winning is nice, but I'm also cool with losing, or even ties, I'm also going to tell them that "yeah, mathematically we're still in this, but realistically, we really don't care that much so, I'd bet on Bayern." Footie fans love that.)

A 2 in a disappointing draw for the team is a very good kicker rating.

Yeah, it sucks big time that they couldn't get three points to keep the (faint) title hopes alive. As it stands, only the fat lady needs to sing. I look back on that Schalke game starting line-up and just think Favre is a crap coach. Then, put in our boy Puli when down to 9 men and losing badly. Honestly, when does a captain and another player get straight reds within minutes of each other? Was that a sabotage job? That whole Revierderby game was just bizarre.

So happy Chelsea got a CL spot. Man, I'd never thought I would say that. Sometimes being a yank abroad fan ain't easy (like when Donovan was at BM).

"We know we can do our part now, and it just comes down to Bayern losing a few games, but we’re never gonna give up."

Someone inform him there are two games left.

Bummer too, having his best game being the one where all hopes for the title are dashed. Tough to appear cheerful around the locker room.

The degree to which Arsenal and United have crapped the bed to provide Chelsea with CL is, frankly, mind-boggling... but good for them for doing what they needed to do. It will be nice to see him back in the CL.

I'm curious what the squad around him will look like, as it seems almost a formality that their best player by far is off to Madrid.

With CHO injured and possibly ruined for good, with the ban starting, with Hazard leaving, and with the Chelski fans sick of Willian (which is correct, guy lacks) and of Pedro (which is incorrect, he's proved a warrior), the stage is set for Puli to become the star for the team and keep it among the Top 6 in the EPL --not an easy feat, and made particularly hard for Puli because he's a rather slight winger, the type EPL defenders like breaking the hard way.

This is a somewhat odd view of Chelsea, one that also makes a number of assumptions.

It's in agreement with what the Chelsea fans are saying in their forums. Except for their view on Pedro, whom I consider to be a bit more than decent yet they view as subpar.

I’m a Chelsea fan. That’s not in agreement with what I’ve been saying. But ok, sure.

So what's your bone of discord? Do you think Hazard is not leaving? Do you think CHO will be ready right after the summer? Do you think Willian is ace? Do you think Pedro is trash?

Did you know this type of reverse syntax is an artifact of celtic/gaelic language that still persists in the more remote parts of Britain?

    1. Hazard has been reportedly leaving every summer. Until he signs for another club, he’s a Chelsea player.
    2. There’s no reason to think at 19 an Achilles injury has permanently set CHO back, and I’m not even one of his bigger fans. (He’s fine, but has a lot to learn.)
    3. Willian is fine. Pedro is fine. They’re both adequate players with somewhat limited skill sets. Pedro in particular is a limited player who struggles in any system that gives him freedom - he’s much better when used in a very specific role.
Saying Pedro is a proved warrior doesn’t make him a better player. I’ve watched Pedro dribble sideways pointlessly far too many times.
    4. Our transfer ban is still subject to an appeal which should be resolved shortly. Silly to make guesses as to what we will do before then.
    5. It’s not entirely clear Sarri will be our manager next year, making much of this moot.

Unless Chelsea get their asking price, I am not sure if Hazard will be going to Madrid. Everything I have read says that Hazard wants a move, but that Madrid have yet to meet Chelsea's asking price. Marina has a reputation as a tough negotiator so I am almost certain Chelsea will remain firm in the asking price.

There have also been a few reports/rumors the last week to 10 days where it seems there may be a small but growing chance to keep him. The transfer ban would also affect this, if they are banned from signing any new players, how can you sell your star player and top 3 player in the world?

^^That's the question I've been asking: unless you absolutely can't make Hazard happy in any way, shape or form, why would you sell him at this moment - even for crazy money - if you can't buy anyone else with that $$? I would think Chelski would be doing everything possible to get at least another year or two out of him, esp. if the appeal fails.

Well, the coach was kind of saying that with his lineup selections; also behind Brun Larsen... per the coach's actions.

?? Is it still September, when Bruun Larsen was actually getting minutes that seemed like they could go do Pulisic? In the new year, JBL has three starts - two of those CP was injured; in the third CP also started and played 90 minutes. They have similar minutes in calendar '19 ... with CP missing six games through injury, and JBL making up the minutes gap in the games when CP was injured. JBL has 100 Bundesliga minutes since the winter break in games where CP was in the squad, and close to zero of those were minutes where a healthy CP wasn't already/also on the field.

CP also had vastly more minutes in the Champions League and Pokal. So, no.

Because his contract is up next July? Losing a 150M player for nothing makes even less sense, as far as I can tell.

If he were trying to make his move to Arsenal, I'd understand on some level -- holding him to his deal to avoid strengthening a direct rival, a la Lewa & Bayern -- but he's not staying in the prem.

Maybe he will stay! Who knows, I'm just saying it seems to be that he's moving on, and unlike some other recent windows in which it's seemed he's moving on... this one seems more credible for a lot of reasons. Mostly it's time for Real to really spend in a way they haven't in a long time, and they want that attacking superstar, and Eden seems to be receptive to their overtures.

    But again, who knows.

Sure. My point is only that you'd expect Chelsea, if facing a ban, to do as much as they could to keep him. Even if it were sell and loan or?? I have no idea how much he wants to leave, but if I'm Chelsea, I'm really trying to keep him happy.
