Johnson made the bench but has earned his 3rd straight DNP today. Gladbach lost 1-0.

Johnson has 11 starts and 7 sub appearances in 31 league matches this season.

After his contract is done next summer, it's either retirement or MLS for him. I suspect the recurring back problems he had a couple of seasons back never went completely away. It's not the sort of thing you can get 'cured'.

I had high hopes for Fabian nearly 5 years ago, coming off an impressive World Cup performance and a couple solid seasons with Hoffenheim. Unfortunately, he's only had 1 season since then where he's started even half of his club's Bundesliga games and that's now 3 or 4 seasons ago.

Shame, as I still believe a healthy FabJo is top 3 in our pool for both technical and tactical abilities. He could start at a number of positions on the best USMNT XI...that said, given his health, I'm sure he'd be happy to be a part-time player on a big team. Wish we could've had him in the fold earlier in his career

Johnson misses out on today's match against Nurnberg because of his injury.

Johnson does not make the 18 for the final match of the season against Dortmund. He'll finish the season with 11 starts and 7 sub appearances.

BMG won the friendly 4-0 btw. Haven't seen any mention of Fabio in the couple of very brief match reports I saw.

Guy was in his last legs, it's retirement or MLS at this point IMO.

It had been reported that he and FC Cincy had reached a deal before the beginning of their first season in MLS. MLS nixed the deal saying that FC Cincy had to go through the MLS allocation order even though Cincy was not even in MLS when the deal was struck!

will be weird to see Brooks and Chandler as the only ones left from those 4 more successful German-Americans which includes Jones and Johnson. Although Chandler has tough competition to regain his place after being out almost all season.

the other guys were never really that successful or consistent.

Yep. Just goes to show the success rate is not great, no matter where you're born:
German-born Germaricans who were "the next coming..." (give or take)
    Green
    Johnson
Jones (and he was... just came to late.)
    Chandler
    Brooks
    Boyd
    Zelalem
    Williams
    Yeldell
    Wooten

Heck, I've almost got a full side there!

    actually Green is USA born.:p

you also got Morales, George, Gotz, Parker Bros, Toljan, Gipson, Costly. Not bringing up the younger ones who still are trying to breakthrough pro level.

in the end Jones, from the list only those 4 were consistent 1BL players. The rest were 2BL and lower or struggled in 1BL. A lot of players listed are already late 20s/30s. So one can tell more about them.

Only one to live up to the expectations was Jones. Fabian had a flash, then fizzled. The rest, meh. Even Brooks. But he has time to prove good, yet.
