It's no longer possible, sadly. Eurosport dropped MLS and no one else in Germany picked it up. My vpn was uncovered. So I listen to WHB.

I think August is usually about fatigue and injuries in general. But Roger is by far the most noticeable absence, even with Ilie in consideration. The last time we had a reasonable replacement for what Roger brings to the team, his name was Paolo Nagamura.

And even Nagamura couldn't replace him in 2015.

Sorry to read about your injury woes. Are you going to be able to field 11 tomorrow? Based on the season so far, the way to get points against Atlanta is to bunker. I know you guys are beat up, but I hope Peter Vermes doesn't resort to those tactics.

Good luck tomorrow, and by that I mean I hope no one else gets injured, we have entertaining game, but Atlanta goes home with 3 points.

    Cheers!

We’ll field an 11. If the players that are injured don’t play, we’ll look like this probably.

    Salloi - Nemeth - Russell
    Rowe - Zelalem/Croizet
    Gutierrez
    Sinovic/Croizet - Barath - Abdul - Zusi
    Melia

Barath Rwat? Fontas has had a full week of rest, right? Does he remain uninjured? I get that Fontas Rwat were a disaster, but it would seen that Fontas Barath are a more workable partnership. From what we've seen of Rwat looks like he's going to need time to became an SKC style player. Ditto with Zelalem. I do think he's got the quality we need to play that role well, or swap with Felipe. But man, we all knew Roger was going to break down someday, I was just hoping it would be after Zelelem figured out what we do.
Also, I get the sense that the Croizet experiment is the equivalent of Vermes RB experiment a couple years back. Zusi looked rough around the edges, defensively, those first couple months, but Vermes had his mind made up and wasn't worried about that. Maybe Seth just needed an extended break, but if we see Croizet play again, and produce the way he did last weekend? I get Vermes point on this, bookends of Croizet and Zusi (both seem to have good engines) gives you a possession edge. Not sure that it doesn't give you a matching minus defensively (I rate Zusi as among if not the best RBs in MLS though).

Fontas hasn't practiced at all this past week.

Crap. Sanchez, Gerso, Fontas, Besler Roger would be a good base for a staring 11.
Rwat had a bad game last time out, but I wasn't overly bothered with it, except for the moment when he could have headed clear, quite routinely, and went to play the ball with his foot. The other problems he had, when to shift, who to mark, these things get coached into a player. that was a really bad instinct. I am hoping it was a one off.

I will add this, from the moment we signed Rwat and Barath, I've been wondering if this isn't our starting CB tandem for 2021, if not at some point in 2020.

I agree about Rwatubyaye, he's still really raw, but I'd rather have him starting than Smith who looked completely out of his depth in MLS last year.

I've been shocked how bad Smith looks in SPR highlights. he looks slow, both in foot speed and thought.

I do hope we get to keep Rwatubyaye for a good while. I think Vermes could turn him into a really solid CB.

I missed the news on Ilie. He's hurt again?

I know Pity Martinez has not gotten in sync with the ATL attack yet, but against a cobbled together SKC defense, I think it’s going to be a long disappointing night for the fans. Prediction: ATL 4 - SKC 1

That was a terrible half of futbol from SKC. When was the last time we bunkered like that at home?

I guess I was a bit optimistic thinking SKC could score a goal.

By the 75th minute, the stadium looked like an old school Arrowhead attendance!

    first, f this game.
Second, looking at Audi, briefly, man we sucked. Overall, Atlanta put up 5100 Audi points, that is a spanking, while we were at 1700 (i'm rounding, because it's not worth going back and forth on this one).
A couple interesting tidbits: Rowe, Audi score, 5. Remember, 220-235 is average. So, did he get there by doing lots of bad stuff? No, during his 65 minutes he did lose an aerial, a tackle and a challenge as well as a couple take ons, but these are not unusual negative numbers. he just didn't have any positives to make up for them. Consider that he was in the lineup for Roger. He connected on 19 passes. In 65 minutes. Look at his activity map, it's essentially a canvas that Pollack decided to start, then got bored with an put away for later. He disrupted nothing, at all.
Zusi was worse, though at least he was kind of active. 47 -10 on passing. The numbers blame him for one goal, which is really interesting because they normally do not do that (his -225 would be a bit better without the -302 he was dinged for that). Also interesting, our second worst Audi performer was Seth, -52, 58-13 on passing and 3 take ons won canceled out by a lot a couple lost.
I went to look at Smith, thinking "jeebus" but Audi had him as one of 4 SKC players who outperformed the average MLS player, 268. Take away long passes, and he was 69-3. he had 4 clearances (and really, ffs, we still gave up 3 goals?), lost 2 takes ons, two aerial challenges.
Audi sez we were completely destroyed in the midfield and wings. Felipe was our best midfielder, though Ilie almost matched his numbers in 25 minutes) but was substantially below average. Croizet in midfield was back to Croizet numbers. Lotta hustle, not so much quality.
Of course, it also sez Barco was the second coming of Zidane in this one, so take that for what it's worth.
