Ryuken never panned out IIRC don't think he plays anymore, Paolo Medina is also eligible for this age group but he's been struggling to get minutes on Monterrey's u20's.

and for Maleck his knee injury really screwed him over.
Don't think he'll find his form in time when the likes of Roberto de la Rosa, Daniel Lopez, Christopher Trejo, Cesar Huerta are doing better than him rn.

U20 list for the World Cup is out. Personally I hate it but it seems Mexican club got into it and wrecked it. Let see them if it goes as bad as it seems it might.

The problem is “pull through” isn’t what you use one of your best talents for, especially how the qualifying final went.

If this team had a legit final run level in them, I’d be elated to have Diego there.

So European clubs are going to pull the trigger on buying a young Mexican kid based on what he does at the U20 World Cup but not based on what he does at his club?

We've had quite a few kids make the jump after a decent Youth World Cup. How many of them have gone on to establish themselves as senior international players without a decent first division resume?

Ulises Davila ring a bell? Guarch? Edson Rivera?

A kid like Marcel Ruiz will move to Europe based on what he does in LigaMX, not with the U22 National Team in Toulon, for example.

I understand, and share, the hand wringing when it comes to some of the selections but the disappointment is clearly misplaced based on our recent history with youth national teams and players who emerge from them.

Heard on a bunch of channels that Jose Juan Macias will be scouted on what he does in the U20 & not in the league

Also Toulon is the tournament where there is literally way more talent scouts than fans in the stands, when we won that in 2012 it put Marco Fabian on the map since he was the top scorer & Hector Herrera since he was the best player, Raul Jimenez linking up well and being a difference maker, Nestor Araujo etc who knows how many wouldve went in 2018 if they wouldnt have lost sure as hell not just Lainez since he was the MVP, most likely Eduardo Aguirre since he was the top scorer. Euro teams dont care if Jorge Sanchez wins Copa Mx & other mickey mouse trophies like that

Hell 'el Turco' was asked during a Celta De Vigo press conference on why there isnt many Mexicans playing in Europe he said it's because the Liga MX isnt watched over there + the players are unknown. So how do they get known? Winning the Olympic Gold like in 2012, Did you know that Hirving Lozano got picked over Kellyn Acosta by PSV because Chucky shined in the 2nd CCL game & eliminated Dallas single handedly? The scouts were there to see the Nad yet he stunk it up

I mean, that's not saying much.

A bunch of channels? like TV pundits?

Logically, it makes sense to you that Euro club would care more about what he does against players his own age than what he does against first division professionals?

It's one thing to say a good U20 World Cup might bring more suitors in but I can guarantee you that if he moves abroad, it ain't gonna be on the back of scoring a few goals against Japan and Ecuador's U20 teams.

Yeah I don't know about that.

Marco Fabian had been a first division player with Chivas for quite a while before he lit up Toulon. He played and scored in a Libertadores final two years prior to the Toulon tournament for the love of god.

Herrera was the LigaMX rookie of the year before he was even called up to the U22s by Tena.

Raul Jimenez barely played in Toulon, mostly took a back seat to Pulido and he was already a first team member at Club America for over 6 months.

Nestor Araujo also barely played in Toulon. He was one of the best players for Mexico at the 2011 U20 World Cup and the 2011 Copa America and that didn't get him a move abroad.

You're mostly proving my point here.

So European clubs don't watch LigaMX but they watch the U20 World Cup? They are incredibly indifferent to youth world Cups and tend to place more emphasis on the U21 European Cup.

Lozano had been followed by European clubs since he tore up the Milk Cup as a scrawny 15 year old many moons ago. And more to the point, his U20 World Cup with Mexico a few years ago was not very good. He was fatigued and also failed to really shine at the Olympics the year after.

He went to Europe based on his performances vs adults and professionals.
