Odds are that Liverpool will finish with 97 points and they aren’t favored for the title. This season has been insane
Yeah. That was insane. Few would've expected him to do that at that moment from that spot. Except him of course.
Remember the conventional wisdom that the new tv deal was creating a new premium league middle class?
"They" forgot to account for shirt deals, game day receipts, summer tour/ICC monies, UEFA funding, secondary media revenues... I still laugh at how part of the league funding is parsed out based on TV appearances. (ie: the popularity bonus!) As if there is a club that doesn't want to be on TV!
For the nerds: Atalanta - Empoli. xG for Atalanta 6.03. Empoli 0.23. Result 0-0. Empoli's GK had 17 saves, a new record.
Good article on racism in English football https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ll-parks-premier-league-special-investigation Its all on the rise thanks to society declining. The white racists last stand it seems.
He's not a fascist, he's just extremely stupid! Sometimes I think the Euros have this all right with player development, but man, their players are almost all basically middle-school dropouts.
Amen re: Ajax! Would love to see them win it this year, even if the rich clubs use it as an excuse to suggest the tournament remains fair.
Honestly I would absolutely love for any team outside of the "big 4" countries of England, Spain, Germany, Italy to win it. Porto 2004 was the last time this happened. In fact, I don't think a team outside the big 4 has reached a final since then. In fact I think Monaco and Lyon are the only teams to have reached the semis since that time, first Dutch club since PSV 2005... CL really has become a play thing for the big 4 nations...
With dropping viewers numbers in the non 4 leagues countries. Hell, numbers even drop in those 4 leagues countries. The UEFA seems to find only more viewers outside of Europe. Well, those for instance plastic Asian internet fans of Real and Juve, swarming for a superleague got their nose punched by that club from that midget league.
The problem is getting/forcing the teams to take smaller payouts. The likes of Madrid want permanent access and higher payouts under the notion their brand appeal has made them entitled. The rest of us wish the majority of funds went to the leagues to pay all their members to increase parity. After all we're not simply watching to see Barca but we're watching to see the La Liga champion, whoever that may be.
It's that "entitled" attitude that the likes of Real have that has me pining for the old KO format. The big clubs have shown their lack of spine taking on lesser opposition over the years when first, the Champions League was formed and now, the threat of a Euro Super League looms large. Yeah I know the return to the KO format will never happen, especially when the number of European nations and clubs involved have grown since the end of the Cold War. Still hope for that ESL to blow up in their faces.
