He played CF in most games without scoring any goals aside from a PK and a tap in created by Pulisic. He blew countless chances otherwise. How about the 100 top flight games he played in Europe scoring about 3 goals?
He didn't blow countless chances! You should try watching the games. The team lost out on qualification because they leaked too many goals and couldn't get a point against a bad T&T that had guys who would be happy to play in MLS. Why are you talking about Europe? Why do you ignore him scoring against top Mexican clubs just last season but want to talk about Sunderland? Which is more useful data as to current form? You don't want to have a serious discussion so I am going to ignore you like Yurch. Read this wiki article so you can understand what you are doing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motivated_reasoning
Yes, ignore everyone who won't agree with you and offers counterpoints/opinions. I think that's unfortunately the way our current world works, and it's a sad state of affairs. We didn't qualify because we leaked too many goals, yet couldn't get a point in T&T (because, ummm, we couldn't score goals). Take out 10 goals in two games against Honduras and CR, and we scored 7 goals. 7 goals in 8 games, including 2 against T&T and 2 against Panama. The defense certainly could've been better, but blaming only leaking goals as the reason for that failure is ridiculous.
Watch the highlights of our home matches against CR and Mexico. Jozy had lots of chances. He also had chances at T&T that he missed. If defenders share blame for giving up goals, then attackers share blame for not scoring. Without Pulisic, we've had zero chance at qualifying because we would have had no attacking ability.
90% of that guys posts are defending Jozy. I wouldn't be surprised if its Jozy himself or a family member.
Well, according to Wikipedia Altidore made his professional debut on August 23, 2006, which was just a few short weeks before @50/50 Ball made his Bigsoccer debut. Coincidence????
LOL. I have never met the man. In the age of Durant, anything seems possible. The best evidence against this being Jozy's burner is that I sometimes post during his games. I tend to post about the things I find most interesting about the USMNT. I posted a ton about Landon being left out and I like to maintain this thread about Jozy. I also post a good bit about young up and comers. I used to constantly call for Benny to be played, maybe I am his dad too.
This got heated fast. I had hoped Wood might replace Jozy or at least provide a solid partner to get better out of him. The craziest thing is Jozy is still only 29. McBride went to England (permanently) at age 31. A different world back then though. I miss Jozy/Davies in summer 2009. Or Jozy (summer 2013). That was peak Jozy.
No walking or pouting if he doesn't get calls. If they need to press he better press too. He can do all of that but seemingly gets injured or on walkabout every third game.
I agree. Jozy definitely gets called for fouls that most other players would never get called for, but when he is on the receiving end he needs to just play through it, whistle or no. I've seen him do it before, but too often seen him pull up his run to complain to the ref while playing for the Nats. Do you ever see Messi do that? Almost never, and when he does it's because it's gotten to an absurd hackfest in that particular game--and every game is a Messi hackfest. If Jozy played through it he might find additional opportunities. That said, many others have said they want to see teammates backing eachother up. Jozy needs enforcers, too, because he gets pushed, pulled and pummeled often.
I don't think there's a Jones out there or at least not yet but I bet by committee it will be a lot better. Heck Pomykol cheap shotted Chara himself for a earlier cheap shot from him earlier and it was just right meaning not tossed, not too close to goal etc. I bet Miazga, McKennie, Adams et all will take care of each other.
From the article: "Altidore should not only be the first forward written into the squad list, he should be one of the first overall players alongside Christian Pulisic, Michael Bradley, Tyler Adams, Zack Steffen, John Brooks and Weston McKennie, if he is healthy. Sure, one of the other forwards could catch fire over the next two months, but none of them have consistently proven they can score against quality opposition at the international level. A healthy and in-form Altidore does nothing but benefit the USMNT moving forward." Oh my.
Have you lot heard what he said about the trainer that was let go by TFC? Man was always injured, yet acts as if this trainer was some miracle worker. Lost the plot.
Until yesterday, it had been several years since Altidore had a muscle/hamstring injury, so maybe Giovinco's pal did a good job while working with him at Toronto. Of course, Altidore has had other injury problems the last few seasons.
A seasoned professional should know better than to call out the president of the club in an interview. Blaming this injury on the missing trainer is silly and points to a lack of accountability. If what the trainer did worked, he can replicate it on his own.
Don't read SBI, so that article went unnoticed, but that line is amazing. One of these is not like the others...
Whatever the trainer was doing, no other trainer Jozy ever had could keep his hamstrings from winding up. Before he got to Toronto, he had the same injury over and over everywhere he went.
Jozy loses his head at times along with his hamstrings. But, now everyone has kissed and made up in Toronto.
