Sources have just informed me that there are FIVE potential ownership groups interested in bringing a Canadian Premier League (CPL) team to the Montreal/Laval area as soon as next season— Joey Alfieri (@joeyalfieri) April 10, 2019

They played 6 young Canadians (mostly Quebecers) and played great football holding DC United 0-0 Toronto looks solid but 1 injury away from being ordinary... Vancouver have some work to do... Ottawa's still an embarrassing mess...
Soccer Night in Canada I haven't personally confirmed but a trusted source tells me a @CPLsoccer broadcast deal with @cbcsports will be announced in a matter of days. I'm told approximately 20 games across multiple platforms this season. #CanPL— Gavin Day (@gavinlday) April 11, 2019 One of the best outcomes for the league. 2 weeks away. Can't wait. The fact that this is a league from scratch makes it so fascinating. There aren't really any favorites because it's impossible to know how each team stacks up with each other. I also can't wait for CPL vs MLS teams in the Canadian championship. I don't believe the level is going to be on par with MLS in the beginning but the professionalism and quality of this league is going to surprise a lot of neutrals. I finally get to watch soccer where Canadians are the focus and not an after thought.
Attendance is looking okay too.. Halifax and the Forge are looking really promising, Pacific and York 9 seem to be struggling some, but I like that York sold out their 1,200 allotment for the inaugural game, so they could actually be pretty solid.
York most expensive season tickets are nearly sellouts as well. General Attendance is unknown but looks like we're about to find out.
I think this tweet is fairly well in line with my impressions of where the teams are: Best numbers for #CanPL season seats sold based on what has been said.Pacific - 1,000Edmonton - 2,500 (double their NASL number)Cavalry - 1,500Valour - ?? (anyone seen anything?)Hamilton - On pace for over 5,000 (not sure where they stand now)York - 1,200Halifax - 4,500— David Rowaan (@David_Rowaan) April 11, 2019 I would like to see all the teams in the 3k range for STH as it would make 5k a game an easy reach for the teams. But 2 weeks out from real games and the atmosphere could draw them in.. I think Halifax might regret not having a larger stadium, tho.. I think they could have averaged 10k out the door, but its an erector set stadium, so adding seats shouldn’t be too hard.. hopefully the numbers will justify a permanent stadium as well
Valour has really dropped the ball. They had early positive momentum from local soccer fans but their ownership group (CFL Bluebombers) have done absolutely nothing to market the team or build hype. A real waste. As a former FC Edmonton season ticket holder in the NASL - Ive seen first hand you only get one first impression with a city. You can't fix an initial lack of hype/interest.
There have been different numbers in different articles but it seems like the league is saying teams need to draw around 6000 average to be viable. Based on articles I've seen and looking at the teams' websites for buying tickets: Hamilton and Halifax are fine. Edmonton should be okay. They are going to come in under 6000 since their stadium only seats ~5100 but they look like they have a chance of selling out most of their games. I'm assuming they took their stadium size into account when they priced their tickets. Victoria, Calgary, and (especially) Winnipeg look like they need to pick it up. Lots of unsold tickets. York I can't tell because there isn't much information available and their ticket website doesn't let you see a stadium map that shows sold and unsold seats. So from the current vantage point we have three teams looking good, three teams that need to improve, and one question mark. I hope the league publishes attendances for each game in the game reports.
Very good article on ten more prospects from League 1 Ontario who would be good signings for the CPL. Story is from the L1O site but I'd agree having seen these players over the years. https://www.league1ontario.com/news_article/show/1009254

That doesn't mean there's talent in Toronto, it means that parents have money and La Liga sees a business opportunity. Just ask Barca about their Canadian academies.
There are 4 Barca academies in Canada: "Players can train either two or three times each week, with a competitive match every 15 days. Prices range from $950 plus tax to $2,950 plus tax, as well as the cost of uniforms."
Could CBC Sports be clearing the way to broadcast @CPLsoccer? https://t.co/72JW51zp1K #CanPL #CPL— Northern Tribune (@northtribune) April 16, 2019
This is a genius move by the CPL. In terms of marketing planning, they've exceeded all expectations. They will most likely announce that the 1st inaugural game will be on CBC, free for all to watch from coast to coast. Some big #canPL news regarding this season will be announced tomorrow night during telecast of the Leafs game.— John Molinaro (@JohnMolinaro) April 16, 2019 1118237060630970368 is not a valid tweet id
