Let's hope Mina Tanaka won't be a top-scorer on the domestic stage only, but she'll remember to save some goals for WWC also... :coffee:

This year, Kibi doesn't have Ikejiri anymore: it looks like it's a quite big difference...

Talking about my problem with Academy players, I have to ask if the first names of some scorers that I obteined through Google-translator are right:
    - Niigata: Moe Nakae
    - JFA: Ran Iwai, Urara Watanabe
    - Kibi: Fuko Abe
    - Cerezo: Ryoka Takao, Shuka Kitahara

Not only Ikejiri, they lost Yoshida Nagisa ( the member for the four years ago high school champion Hinomoto the same as Ikejiri and now in Inac) either.

Ryoka Takao - Takao Serika. I think the other names are right.
The other difficult name is Koyama Shinomi.

    Thanks!

Yes, but luckily I had that from Cerezo Girls' roster from last season: the most difficult ones are the new players, if roster haven't been updated.

    International updates:

    - NWSL: after the two games on Saturday I posted about earlier, yesterday Houston Dash-Seattle Reign has been played. The result was an 1-1 draw (although Seattle missed a PK in the last minutes of the game with the most wasteful FW that I know of, at least in the major NTs, Jodie Taylor o_O). Sadly, Rumi Utsugi was sitting on the bench all game: although NWSL's injury report says nothing about it, I wonder if maybe she couldn't be coming back from a minor injury and if that couldn't be the reason why Takakura didn't call her for the recent friendly matches. :cautious: After all, she used to be a starter in Reign, last season...
    Highlights: http://www.nwslsoccer.com/videos/B9AD46C9-3F73-27B2-A90D-1E8CFA10D4E3

    - Division 1 Féminine: on Saturday evening, the big match of this season and decider for the title has been played, OL-PSG, with these two teams level at the first place before the start of the game. Well, with all of the fuss about it, the final result of this clash was quite anti-climatic: OL comfortably won by 5-0. Ok, there was a questionable call (not in highlights) in OL's box when the score was still 1-0, but actually PSG was never really in the game and OL basically destroyed them. With two matchdays to go, OL should now lose one match and draw the other to miss the title (their goal difference is unsurmontable, so tying them at first place wouldn't be enough for PSG): I guess no-one can realistically envision that, so we can safely say that OL's 13th consecutive title :)eek::eek::eek:!!!) is basically already in the books.
Saki Kumagai was subbed in at 70' only, when the score was 4-0 already, but, if my eyes serve me well, it should be her the one who made the assist for the 5th goal. I can't actually recognize her from highlights, but that long, accurate drive from the defense-line that landed on Van de Sanden's feet looks like a trademark Saki's pass. What do you say guys? Am I wrong or am I right? Give a look at highlights and answer me:

    - Frauen-Bundesliga: SC Freiburg-1.FFC Turbine Potsdam 1-2; unusually, Hikaru Naomoto was on the pitch the whole game for Freiburg. Borussia Mönchengladbach lost again, home by 0-4 to Hoffenheim; Keiko Kodama still out injured.

    - Liga Femenina: Real Betis-Sevilla FC 1-1. Betis slide back at 7th. Erina Yamane wasn't on the pitch nor on the bench o_O: I hope she didn't pick up an injury, just when we were thinking that after all she could be maybe usuful at WWC. Albacete lost again (by 0-1 to Athletic Bilbao) with Tanaka on the pitch and Matsukawa on the bench, and now they're seriously facing relegation (they're second-to-last, level with Madrid CFF).

    - WK League: the league in South Korea starts today. I remind everyone that we should have at least 4 player in it: Asuna Tanaka (I guess she's there this season also) + three players who recently transferred there, Natsuki Yoshimi, Madoka Haji and Mayu Ikejiri. I could have missed some other. Don't ask me to follow them very closely, because gathering info about Korean League is much more difficult for me. I hope maybe someone else can make up for me in this case. :)

Does anyone know if there is a scheduled date when Takakura will release the WWC roster? I do wonder how much of Nadeshiko League (and other leagues overseas) she will be able to see, before taking her final decisions (unless she already has the 23 names nailed since the end of the last tour).

Netherlands already published their WWC roster, I guess they're the first NT in the World Cup to do that.

Maybe not yet published about that date.
Nadeshiko League games are six before the break.

To be honest, I do not know why Mrs. Wiegman was in such a hurry to release her team, since there are still 2 months time before the World Cup and you never know what might happen in this time period in terms of injuries etc. So i would expect, Takakura is going to take her time and observe player performances in league matches, before she is announcing her final squad for the World Cup.

Regarding that however, it is really hard to make any predictions, who is going to make it, in the end ?

Of course they're too much young for me to know anything about them: any names that we should keep an eye on, as far as you know, @unepommekun? :coffee:

"Delle nazioni", in Italian, means that the tournament will happen in Italy (I vaguely remember something similar from one or two years ago)? Where exactly? Close-doors games or open to the public?

I'm not well informed about them either, but Hamano and Ohyama may be somewhat famous.

Not sure if any of you will be in France for WWC: just in case, this article (courtesy of @shlj) indicates where Nadeshiko Japan team will have its base for the matches that will be played in Nice (at the moment: just one, the 19th of June). :)

Are you kidding me? There is only one name we will vote in mass: SAKI!

By the way, intersting line on her profile on the BBC website: "A World Cup winner with Japan, Kumagai captained the national team to the Asian Cup in 2018 - their first win in the competition in four years."
Of course it's Japan first win in the competition in four years: the competition happens every four years! :ROFLMAO:

Saki's video was funny but also interesting. In particular an action is showed, from an OL match, where Saki slings a pinpoint-pass from her half of the pitch to the offense-line. I guess she's one of the very few defenders in the women's game who are actually able to make so long and accurate passes through the whole pitch: thus my impression that it was her who made a similar assist for the 5th goal in OL-PSG from last week-end: did anyone of you review those highlights, guys? Can anyone confirm that it was Saki? :coffee:

Which one did they nominate, the Australian Sam Kerr or the Scottish Sam Kerr? They've both had a good year.

Hey @blissett, that Serie A in your country is finishing tomorrow (Saturday) with the big games at 12:30, I'm posting off-topic because I know you'll read this :) There was a Japanese player in an Italian division, Honami Uchiyama at FC Apulia Trani, but it's quite rare. We'll have to wait and see if the top clubs make any signings in the summer.

Thanks, I'll be in Paris for JPN - ARG on quick 2-3 day trip. Perhaps even be able to extend it to see JPN - SCO (will know for sure in a week or two).
