Sunderland is the club that signed the most useless donkeys for the most money. Their scouts are rubbish.

Wood should go to Dortmund...they need a striker.

That's a terrible idea. He wouldn't play there.

It was only 2 years ago when there were rumors of them looking into him.

Imma go on a limb here and suggest it is not even close to possibly somewhat likely that it is being considered to be happening at the moment.

I know he's not going there..but I honestly think he's a better striker than gotze....who has played the 9 for them this season...I don't get why BVB just thought/thinks they didn't need a striker this year other than alcacer.....

wood needs a team that creates chances and needs a striker...BVB checks both boxes. hamburg and hannover don't. What clubs (that he could actually go to) do?

wood's weird though...his form fluctuates moreso than most....very wildly, it seems...i guess it is like a confidence thing? there was a time there when he was doing very well for hamburg/usmnt that it seemed like he was destined for greater things....those days seem distant now...i guess JK deserves credit for being a "wood whisperer"

My guess is his knee issues have nagged him more than we know - whether physically, mentally or both. His fairly "stable" drop in form seems to follow the various reports of knee discomfort.

Add to that the fact that H96 is just unredeemable awful - and Fullkrig's injuries, their most potent attacking player - and it's a bad stew.

I think Wood is a top B2/bottom B1 level striker, but to produce needs a team that helps his strengths - one of which is being a weird hybrid of a false 9/second "small" striker - without really looking, it seems to me many of his "non poacher" goals come from running into the channels from behind a CF who has attracted CD attention. When Wood is the CF alone, he seems less effective. But I admit to going only on impressions over the past couple of seasons. I'd have to spend some time with highlight reels to double-down on that analysis.

But it's pretty clear H96 was a terrible fit for him, an likely for most moderately talented strikers.

Bobby needs five chances to score one.

That's terrible in a weak team, and eventually gets you benched in a good one.

Auba was about one in four when he got the call from the gooners.

Most CF's are less effective when they are alone. When three or four guys only have to mark one man, that limits that one mans effectiveness.

If he actually converted 1 in 5 chances, he’d be a better finisher than Harry Kane.

its the # of chances/game that makes the best strikers...

not many - even the harry kane's - are creating even a decent % of their own chances on their own....

how many chances a game does wood get?

    how many does kane get?

certainly being the in right place, making the right runs etc...can greatly influence how many chances a striker gets/game....but at the end of the day 99% of strikers are only gonna be as good as the talent they are surrounded by.....

just because christiano ronaldo or messi can seemingly score at will no matter the situation that doesnt mean that should be the minimum standard all players are judged on.

Of course, but there are some "solo CFs" who are more effective - in "Fish" manner- than other CFs. And Wood is not one of the more effective solo CFs, from what I've seen.

*images what might have been had he gone to the PL*

Is he persona non grata at the club? Can the Heavens grace us with 1 more goal from Robert?

the more recent update is that H96 doesn't want him, HSV doesn't want him. Most clubs aren't interested between his poor form, expensive and injury issues.

wonder if his Germany adventure ends? Has been there since 2007.

Well, he's only on loan at Hannover but if Hamburg don't want him back, it becomes a game of chicken between him and HSV:

HSV: "we don't want you any more."
Wood: "So, pay me my contract and I'll go and play somewhere else."
    HSV: "No"
    Wood: "Two words: Winston Bogarde"
    HSV: "Wait a minute! Wait a minute! . . ."

They'll eventually pay him about 50% of the balance and he'll go somewhere else, which means some other country if he wants D1 ball. I'd like him to take the HSV payoff and try his luck in Belgium or Holland and try to move up from there.

Yeah, that is likely outcome where he goes out on loan and HSV picks up at least half of the tab. No way he gets his current salary at another club even with a free transfer.

Wood at a big club in the Netherlands or Belgium would be quite a scene to behold. It'd be nice to see him in some Europa League matches.
