EPB started his 8th game in a row.

The bad news is that Breda played well but lost more points late on once again. The other team scored with about 10 minutes left to win 1-0.

The good news is that EPB played very well. It was one of his better games I’ve seen him play this season.

Soto got his first team debut. He played about 12 minutes.

Hannover are basically guaranteed to be relegated. They are only 7 points from the playoff but they only have 14 points so..... big gap. Hopefully that means they give their youngsters some time

Yup. Although, if they'd won that game yesterday (and it was winnable) then the playoff for relegation (and potential safety) would have been in sight.

So I think they did show great confidence in Soto by playing him yesterday. Also a total lack of confidence in their other forwards...…………….like say Bobby Wood. [Maybe he's injured. I don't know.]

    Blurb from ASN on EPB:
The most improved American player abroad in 2019 is Erik Palmer-Brown. It is not easy to notice this because his NAC Breda team is terrible at the moment and will get relegated out of the Eredivisie. But even in losses, Palmer-Brown is right now turning in consistently strong performances on a weekly basis.

On Saturday in NAC Breda’s 1-0 loss to Heracles, Palmer-Brown completed 92.5% of his passes. He also had an outstanding 12 clearances, four interceptions, and a blocked shot. With his passing out of the back, four out his five attempted long balls were accurate.

All this is important because it will make it far easier for Palmer-Brown to find the best loan of his career next year. He’s already had stints at Porto B, Kortrijk, and now NAC Breda. Next year he should be able to find himself at a much stronger team – likely either in Holland or Belgium.

EPB is finally playing the way I thought he could. Have no idea why it's taken so long but may be based on practices where pro coaches expect the same play and effort in practice as in games. Just a guess though.

    Yup.

Its really hard when you're being passed around Europe like an STD.

There are a ton of these players now that just spend their careers being loaned out and loaned out. Here's Jamaican international defender Michael Hector's career. I mean, in theory he's been under contract at two clubs. Reading and Chelsea. He's only 26!!

First of all, the way that MLS headquarters wants players like Mendez to be discussed by their employees is telling here.

Doyle refers to Mendez as a huge talent, but one whose stagnating because he decided to take the European route. I think he's overrating his talent and being too critical of the player.

I tend to think Mendez is overrated due to a big tournament against what amounts mostly to cooks and cleaners, but how could you say he's stagnating? Mendez got to Freiburg very recently. If the point is that he waited all of the Fall season to sign, thats a valid point, but that doesn't seem to be the point he's making.

At the same time, Mendez is joining right at the end of his U-20 eligibility. I think this is a very risky route, and now reports are coming out that he's being paid almost nothing at Freiburg. I'm not convinced that Mendez is going to be one of the young Americans who breaks through into the Bundesliga. Some big talents don't. It doesn't mean they are bad players.

The LA Galaxy route is an unproven one under the new Technical Director. te Kloese talks a big game, but they have had a terrible track record of bringing through young academy players, so I don't blame Mendez for leaving to Europe. I would've preferred Araujo do the same thing.

That thread by Doyle about Mendez was ignorant at best and purposefully disingenuous at worst.

He goes on to say that A: Mendez has to be "jealous" of a guy like Soto, and B: Mendez is stagnating because he's playing for the U19's and not the 23's.

-Soto got to Hannover about 6 months before Mendez got to Freiberg. He spent a lot of time with the U19's before making his 1st team debut, just as Mendez currently is.

-The U23's in Germany are not usually a stepping stone for top prospects in the Bundesliga unless it's a situation like Sargent was in. Usually that's just reserved for players who aren't good enough for the 1st team but aged out of the U19's.

I'm not even a massive Mendez fan either, (I like him and think he's a good prospect, but I don't think he's a sure thing) but this seems like a case of Doyle either talking out of his ass or shilling for his employer after the messy Galaxy academy situation.

EPB had an important tying goal for Breda in the 88th minute to draw the game 1-1. Bread is now four points out of the relegation playoff game.

EPB goes the full 90 and scores a late equalizer - which I believe is his first as a pro in any league - as NAC ties Emmen(em) 1-1. This loan started off very poorly for our boy but he has really turned things around the past couple months. I imagine he ends up at a bigger club next season.

Wright scored a hat-trick and had an assist for Schalke U-23's. Since they fired the coach, he hasn't gotten any chance in the first team, but he's dominating with the U-23's.

He has 11 goals and 5 assists in 1029 minutes for the U-23's. He needs to transfer to a different club, but he's producing this season, including a Bundesliga goal.

And he indeed saw first team action...……..…….

Hannover, to me, seems to have thrown in the towel when it comes to staying up. Good that they're starting to blood new players in preparation for their BundII campaign next season. I hope Gloster also makes his debut.

If Haji can finally start scoring there’s hope maybe he could be a B2 or holland regular. That’s honestly enough to get in the senior team mix at the moment

Lucas Pos was back in the lineup for Lausanne-Sport today but departed very early, presumably due to injury.
