They simply can't justify towards other homegrown talents the required minimum paycheck they would have to pay EPB. So where do you get your info from? Ajax has idle cash (without the coming sales of de Jong etc) 180 million. This is also without the CL revenues they gain from advancing in the next CL rounds against Real and coming fixture vs Juventus. Add to that at least 140 million from just the sale of de Jong+de Ligt and your remark is beyond silly. Do you mean with "better players" better ones than EPB? According to Mundo Sportivo and "de Telegraaf" Ajax is after French CD Jean-Clair Todibo and Mexican Edson Alvarez, while also chasing Dutch-American Kik Pierie. Ajax wants them all. Unless EPB gets a new loan with an Eredivisie club, his days here will end this season.
Cool. Those aren't "Top 8 European club" signings, and they're drop-offs from de Ligt and de Jong. Top 8 clubs buy players that are better than what they have.

You're extremely missing the point and getting mired in details. Ajax doesn't have the money to regularly compete with the biggest European clubs. I was responding to a post that called them Top 8 in Europe before you got involved. I think that anointing a team with that title, especially one that hasn't won a league in 5 years, based on one year of results is silly. Does Ajax have money? Sure. But not enough to make a CL quarterfinal run again anytime soon. Therefore, not Top 8. Anyway, this has precisely ********-all to do with EPB so I'm dropping this.
They're not Top 8 in Europe, but they are definitely Top 8 in the World for player development. If - and it's a big if IMO - they ever kept tabs on EPB for an extended period, then it's a sign that he is "all that" and he'll get picked up by either them or some other top club in a development league. Personally, I doubt it'll happen. Ajax do have the money to buy EPB this summer ($2.5 million plus a % of the next transfer should do the trick) but even if he has the required footballing ability, he hasn't shown enough concentration or fight during this loan to make the likes of Ajax, PSV, the Lisbon clubs, Anderlecht, etc. to pay a transfer fee and take over his contract. City and EPB will have to agree a settlement (usually 50% of what he'd get on the remainder) and he'll sign on a free, most likely with the likes of Utrecht, AZ, Braga, etc.
The problem is that for Ajax and PSV he's above the age to make an impact on his development. He's 21, an age at which Dutch clubs start fine tuning the talents on their capabilities. Given what EPB has shown on the pitch in Eredivisie confrontations tells the clubs they still have to do work on the basic parts of the soccer know how. That's stuff being tackled here at the age of 17-18. No Eredivisie club can justify towards their young talents to sign a player and pay him the minimum required Non EU salary, while these can see they themselves are ahead of him. Unless ManCity loans him again my guess is that his days in the Eredivisie are numbered.
Man City will have no choice but to loan him again given he can't qualify for a work permit in the UK.
No one in the Ered (or likely elsewhere) will sign him unless Citeh firesales him. I think a loan (Ered or otherwise) is pretty much the main option.
Good spot. We all forgot that rule. 450k Euros (gross), IIRC, is a lot of money in the Eredivisie, even for Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV, and more than EPB has proven he's worth paying. One of them might pay it, but only if they see something special in him and the transfer fee is low enough, but it's unlikely. I'd guess he'll be in Belgium again next season, or some similar level.
When they see potential and have time to put you through the academy/Young xx route it's not going to be a huge proble. See Ledezma. In case PSV still sees potential (I guess they will/have probed the opinion of van der Gaag on EPB during training; matches in that disfunctional line up arenot really the optimum way to judge) worthwhile to take the chance, it will be in the form of a loan from ManCity on a shared cost basis and a small price buy option to see how EPB is faring in better surroundings. That's the best hope on offer for him I can see. PSV (nor another top club) isnot going to take him in to add value for ManCity on a player they have no claim on his future worth.
It simply depends on your definition of a top 8 club. If it is about revenues, for certain they're not. Is it about performance in a given year, they are now. Simple.
When is his contract up with Citeh? There's no big reason they wouldn't loan him to the Ered again if he's still on their books. And the foreign minimum will keep some teams away, of course, but it's not necessarily a game changer. What's most important is whether a "smaller" Dutch club think they can make money off him down the road. I'm guessing he has to fall further before ManC firesafes him low enough for any Dutch club to bite on a buy, but a 2nd loan is not a big deal.
Even a low salary by City standards is a high one for other clubs to pay, reason why I don't see him leaving. His contract runs until June 2022. So he has two seasons to prove his worth in loans, and hope someone comes up with a decent salary offer in the summer of 2021.
