Kik Pierie at Excelsior (olf Ajax)

Discussion in 'Yanks Abroad' started by Dave Marino-Nachison, Feb 20, 2014.

  1. Ajax are after a couple of high value foreign defenders, one a Mexican.
At the moment another highly regarded very young CD they bought from Fortuna Sittard, Per Schuurs, is lingering in the Young Ajax team and not progressing.
Given that and the buying intentions of Ajax for the coming season would mean Kik faces sparse play time or worse lingering like Per Schuurs in Young Ajax.
He could be bought and lend back immediately to Heerenveen, but what growth purpose would that serve for him?
My advice to him is to didge Ajax's interest and go for the tutor ship of Jaap Stam at Feyenoord. You're not going to compete with multimillion buys with national team experience at Ajax.
Donot make the EPB mistake to go for the shiny lights.
If you're lend back to H'veen your wasting development time, while you need to test yourself at a high pressure level.
At Feyenoord you're guaranteed first team play with our aging and struggling CD duo that need replacement.
Combine that with Jaap Stam to teach you the final finesses of how to be a superb defender and there's no doubt what the best choice would be.
It's the best for you and Feyenoord.

    At last an unbiased opinion!

  3. You know me, nothing but the best for Kik.

  4. Well, Heerenveen played against Feyenoord and the Heerenveen defense was all over the place again.

Kik really should consider my suggestion. Being bought by Ajax and loaned back to Heerenveen isnot the path that leads to a brighter future.
Jaap Stam is itching to get you to his level.

"Advice: It's too early for Kik to Ajax..." fwiw

  7. My advice is better. Ajax has a Mexican and a French defender on the radar that will cost much and are internationals. No way, if Kik signs for Ajax, is he going to get into the team. Staying or being bought by Ajax and then being loaned back to H'veen is a very bad idea. He's going to regress by staying in this incapable defense with in front of him a aging midfield.
Nope, his best bet now is a move to Feyenoord.

    Olde Riekerink has been sacked.
    https://www.ad.nl/nederlands-voetbal/heerenveen-stelt-olde-riekerink-op-non-actief~a3d854a1/
    Important part relating to Kik:
"Tegelijkertijd krijgt Heerenveen structureel op de meest knullige wijze doelpunten tegen. Nog altijd maakt het elftal, zeker in defensief opzicht, de indruk alsof het slechts een paar weken onderweg is in de voorbereiding. Hoe je het wendt of keert, want kwalitatief houdt het in die laatste linie bepaald niet over, daarvoor is Olde Riekerink verantwoordelijk."

"At the same time, Heerenveen is structurally swallowing goals in the most stupid ways. The team still makes the impression, certainly in a defensive sense, as if it is only a few weeks in preparation. In what way, any way you look at it, because quality wise in the last line itisnot overflow with that, Olde Riekerink is responsible.

Good. 'Veen have really been mediocre under his this season... Whether it help the defense remains to be seen.

  11. Yup, I wanted him gone some time ago, but do they listen when the football guru speaks:rolleyes:
Kik should learn from this and take my advice when it's still good time to do it.

Ajax usually have a Left Footed CB on the Left and a Right Footed CB on the Right. So Pierre would be competing with Blind for the LCB role(and Blind might be used in midfield more next season). Todibo or Alvarez would be competing with Magallan and Schuurs for the RCB role.

  14. Bastard. I know where your family lives in Friesland:sneaky::devilish:

  15. It would mean he again gets shifted out of his favourite and best suited position. With Jaap Stam at Feyenoord he will be deployed on the best place for him.

Sure, but you guys get lost anywhere north of Zwolle. My cousins will have to fish you out of the marshes and you'll end up drinking all their beerenburgh!

  17. Sigh, Kik signed for Ajax.
    Sucker.

I'm a bit sad. Hope the loan back happens. But if he was going to go anywhere in Netherlands, better Ajax than the lightbulbs or F-word.

With Ajax it is a club where the top sides in Europe are always watching. Like even if he joins and ends up watching Blind every match might not be the end for him. Maxmillian Wober lost his spot to Blind and was signed by Sevilla in January, Kenny Tete lost his spot to Veltman ended up at Lyon. Playing for Ajax gives him a bigger platform than any other side in Holland.

  20. De ligt was tutored by Jaap Stam in Young Ajax and ended in the first team at the age of 17. That's a fact.
Kik could have the same tutoring from Jaap Stam at Feyenoord with first team play on his preferred position.
A big missed opportunity to get the same push in the back as de Ligt had from Jaap.
Now he's in a selection without that outstanding defensive coaching with competitors coming in that are national team players (France and Mexico).
I willnot call it an EPB like move, because it is still a move to an outstanding club, but from development pov he missed the chance to be nurtured like de Ligt was by Jaap Stam.

  21. Maybe a surprise to you, but all big clubs are watching even the lowest clubs in the Eredivisie, as recently the president of Barcelona said in an interview (donot ask me for a link as I can't remeber where I read it). He stated they scout even the relegation fighting clubs. And he's not the only one.
The transfers from low flying clubs to CL playing teams show that it's not a fairy tale. Just look at the transfer of Philippe Sandler from PEC Zwolle to ManCity. I first thought it to be one of those signings of players on the cheap to be loaned out and sold on for some profit, but to my surprise he's training with the first team and already had some matches played.

All you learn from Stamm these days is to get carded... lol.

Reality is, Kik is gonna have to step up his game if he wants "big club" minutes. He's young. He'll either rise to it or he won't.

His two appearances with the first team were cup matches where they were blowing out lower league opposition. More than likely it was one of the weird signings City makes you know like Erik Palmer Brown. I doubt John Stones feels Philippe Sandler breathing down his neck yet.

And it is not impossible for players as smaller Eredivisie clubs to get noticed by the top clubs it is just more difficult. Someone like Hakim Ziyech has not really been noticed by bigger clubs until he joined Ajax. Virgil Van Dijk was not really getting noticed by top clubs playing for Groningen so he ended up at Celtic. And I doubt Frenkie De Jong goes for 90 million to Barca if he was still at Willem this whole time. A similar player to Kik Pierie in Rick Van Drongelen ended up at Hamburg. And it looks like the other club who was in for Kik Pierie was Southampton.

  24. Nope. As I said clubs like Barcelona keep an eye on also the lower clubs of the Eredivisie. You seem to doubt it. It isnot difficult for Barcelona. They just do it.
You need some proof do you?
    upload_2019-4-13_1-19-28.png
FC Groningen has been talking with Barcelona's about Ludovit Reis, an 18 yo midfielder.
    https://www.dvhn.nl/groningen/Barce...html?harvest_referrer=https://www.google.com/

There's that strange thinking in Yankee land about how clubs scout, like they only watch the CL matches or CL playing clubs.
THEY WATCH EVERY CLUB IN THE EREDIVISIE.
It's hard to get for most as these people regard the Eredivisie as a Mickey Mouse league and the non top clubs as scrub teams not worthy to look at, but hey...The big guns of Europe think otherwise.
So who'se opinion do we have to value more? Those who make the buys and sign the players or some fans with little insight how things reall work in the Big Soccer Continent?
