Well... at least Belgium knows what they need to work on defensively.

The next corner we get should go low near post like the first goal against Japan 4 years ago. Belgium will never expect it.

Poor Red Devils are severely outclassed here.

Akers being interviewed. She can look away from the game unlike Mia.

Akers seemed less bored with her interview.

I was laughing during Akers interview when she was asked to describe what this team needs to do to win another world cup... she ends her interview with the the word "miracles."
Yeah, unless we get our act together defensively, we will need a miracle.

Akers was/is my favorite of the '99ers. I was so disappointed that she was unable to finish that 99 World Cup and could not even get to the presentation ceremony after being administered IV fluids in the locker room.

33' 4-0 Press fk at 25m center, chipped softly to 7m 3-right. Mewis looms in front of Jaques, outjumps and leans across her, heads ball first -- across mouth past Evrard stranded, drops into back left low. Well, we've known for a few years of NWSL that a few of our players do have this one skill at a high level, and Belgium aren't doing enough to disrupt it before it happens.

Did the ref miss that tackle on Dunn? That did not look good.

If the center didn't see that, the AR should have. That was an ugly tackle on the end line right at the edge of the box.

HT 4-0. Other than the goals, we're facing almost no pressure. Belgium aren't comfortable sending numbers forward, so our defense has had almost nothing to do. When we have the ball, they don't press us. This is a negative because we're getting away with a lot of sloppy touches and breakdowns in spacing in the midfield. On several of our "attacks", we somehow have 2-3 players clumped near the ball (or all chasing the same loose ball and arriving at the same time). That's not preparing us to play precisely when we need to.

It's good to see us actually serve up some headable balls. Keep doing it until some team stops it.

Belgium needs to do some work on its defense against headers. (trite statement of the day)

    Lloyd has made her statement.

Krieger hasn't done anything great, but I'm a lot more confident with her at right back than I am with Sonnett.

I have been critical of Press as a winger, seeing her only a substitute center forward for Morgan -- but she has looked good on the the wings in recent games.

Mewis should be a starter in my opinion. She's too big, fast, and good not to have her on the field.

    Morgan in for Dunn

This was the moment I realized Morgan wasn't playing.

I'm pretty sure Harris has more touches than Naeher did already.

    46' 4-0 USA subs in:
    - (1 of 6) #24 Ashlyn Harris for Alyssa Naeher
    - (2 of 6) #7 Abby Dahlkemper for #8 Julie Ertz
    - (3 of 6) #13 Alex Morgan for Crystal Dunn.

46' 4-0 Belgium subs in (1 of 6) #13 Elena Dhont for #19 Chloe Vande Velde.

52' 5-0 Horan switches from circle right to Morgan at 33m box left. Morgan passes up box left to Lloyd at 25m -- and continues her own run up mid-left. Lloyd dribbles to box top left and cuts inside, Morgan doesn't stop -- Lloyd slips a diagonal pass toward endline mid-left, in Morgan's stride. Morgan collects alone, dribbles to 5m 6-left, sees Evrard already sliding down at 3-left -- and chips soft left instep over her, through left 90 into center back high. She used to dunk that left 90, now it's a layup :p
