Listen bud. I am tired, and I actually noticed something so I asked. I think I registered five minutes of undistracted viewing. A record.

Whenever my wife is in the room and she hears an announcer say "Rooney" she breaks out a Ferris Bueller version of it in an almost Pavlovian reaction.

Yes. I saw. What an ass.

Also the stat about Olsen being the youngest MLS coach to 100 wins? Poke my eyes out.

Rooney's cheating proves to be the winner.

Of course Lalas said that it was a foul even without contact.

Is Crew on FS1 at all this season? Because if so and Lalas is the announcer, then Crew fans will need to show their feelings (loudly and visually) on that hack.

I reckon it was about 19 years ago today when it was reported that Kevin Payne walked in on Bobby Convey (a resident of the Payne household) in bed with one of the daughters Payne.

Did he say it was an "attempt to trip" or something similar?

Looked like a foul to me. Rooney eludes the tackle to avoid being killed. I don't like the guy, but I want that kind of thing whistled. Dwyer made a careless attempt at a tackle, he missed everything but impacted the play (ball never rolls out if Rooney doesn't have to avoid the challenge).

If every instance where a defender comes at me and makes me move and lose the ball turned into a foul, I'd be getting a lot of free kicks.

Dont feel bad that you didnt know what that was.

I heard a Sportscenter announcer (a female) make a joke about it when a highlight showed a player yanking off his shirt after a goal. Now granted, some of those ESPN bimbos are clearly hired because of the size of their tata's, but still, a professional really ought to know better.

Did they happen to mention he was also the youngest MLS coach to 100 losses (118 and counting) in regular season play?

On July 22, 2017, at the tender age 40 years, 2 months, and 19 days old, our dearly beloved Ben led them D.C. boyz to his 100th loss (a thrilling 3-1 defeat to the Houston Dynamo at the raccoon sanctuary RFK!!).

Ben, always the overachiever, managed to do so in only 237 matches, which may also be the fastest for any coach to 100 losses. But I'm not going to do the math.

    All hail Ben Olsen!

You must be drunk. There's no way that's close to a foul.

You may be right. Also, I should probably look into my profligacy while on the ball. I guess that's the consequence of a lifetime defender trying to attack.

    Law 12
    Kicks or attempts to kick
    Trips or attempts to trip

I saw a careless, not reckless, Dwyer slide at Rooney with every intention of stopping him, kicking out a bit at Rooney to make sure the play stopped there. He missed, but the attempt still happened. Foul, direct free kick.

Speaking of which, I'm looking for advice on a good vermouth to use to make Manhattans. Also, thoughts on bitters...

And since the massive threads are closed....

I'm not an expert on vermouth and tend to go back and forth. I'm sure somebody here can give you better direction.

But bitters - Angostura is the only choice
