Thinking about the fact of Norway ladies winning their WWC qualies group and the Algarve Cup, without Ada: what could lie ahead for them, with Ada? We may or may not find out. They have developed nicely since Euros as a cohesive unit and really would be contenders with Ada in France (now I consider them a darkhorse/dangerous floater). I know this has been talked about before but it is something to bring up again because they have had some nice successes, without Ada, since last talked about. Just pondering.......:cautious::unsure:

It can get quite cold in Oslo in October let alone November and it's hard to play finesse when it's low digits and windy, even without rain or snow. If that's how the league is to be decided so be it but those can be difficult conditions and is not the way the majority of the season will be played.

In an 8 team league you play 21 games and everyone three times. You don't get the fourth against teams (which may be a good thing as much as bad) and you also don't need a protractor for the playoffs. The silly season may get moved to the Fall.

The Nike release probably scans better, as it looks like the NFF just ran that through google translate. The resulting Norwegian is atrocious, and translating it back too English looks a bit weird too. :p

It's quite interesting that some of these boys' team have lost to Toppserien's teams, sometimes even by large margins.

By reading what people use to write on other threads, you would come to believe that no women's team can ever beat any boys' team, but for some sort of miracle, no matter the age! :coffee:

It is puberty, before it boys teams are crushed by good women's team after it it is the other way around.
And it takes a few years for them to get trough it with all or most of the teams players.

Odds from Nordicbet on winners of Toppserien 2019:

    LSK Kvinner .......... 1.33
    Sandviken ............. 4.75
    Vålerenga ............ 10.00
    Avaldsnes ............ 15.00
    Klepp ................... 17.00
    Arna Bjørnar ......... 40.00
    Røa ..................... 50.00
    Stabæk ............... 50.00
    Kolbotn ................ 75.00
    Trondheims-Ørn ... 100.00
    Lyn ....................... 200.00
    Fart ...................... 350.00

The bottom two teams will be relegated directly and the 10th place team will be in play-off due to the new league system in 2020 cutting the number of teams from 12 to 10. I'm pretty sure Fart will go down as quickly as they came up. Who is going to follow them? It could well be Stabæk or T-Ørn. Lyn have looked good in friendlies, and I think they have a chance to stay up. I think Kolbotn are vastly underrated on Nordicbet. They should be on the upper half of the table. LSK will win again, but not sure whether Sandviken, Klepp or Vålerenga will be the main threat.

So... all you Toppserien junkies out there, what are your predictions for 2019? Here is mine:

    Top 3:
    1 - LSK Kvinner
    2 - Vålerenga
    3 - Sandviken

Bottom 3 (play-off and two relegation spots):
    10 - Lyn
    11 - Trondheims-Ørn
    12 - Fart

here's Kvinner's streamed game vs Barca later on today

Live stream: FC Barcelona v LSK Kvinner | UEFA Women's Champions League Quarter-final (1st Leg) - Womens Soccer United

only in Norway would a team be called Fart? lol
off thread, but got to ask; F. Rolfo had a phenomenal game with Bayern Munich this last Sunday. Why isn't she a regular on Sweden's NT? I mean she didn't make the Algarve Cup, her playing time was a bit low for the 8 WC qualifier games(290 min.) & just 29 min. in for friendlies for 2018, zero this year. Could be injury related , but she seemed to have pretty steady playing time for BM through out this time period

It would work in Sweden to, I don't think we have any soccer teams named speed ('fart' in Swedish and Norwegian) but it would make a good namne.

She is a regular, but not always a starter. She missed Algarve Cup due to injury (knee) but have been selected for the training games against Germany and Austria in the build-up to WWC and are expected to be part of the WWC-team.
    https://www.dn.se/sport/fotboll/rolfo-tillbaka-i-landslaget/ (in Swedish)

Injury may sound a bit worse than it was, she missed Algarve due to problems with her knee/s. Which often but not necessarily means injury.

What an embarrassing performance last night from LSK against Barcelona. Coach Hege Riise admits she got the tactical plan wrong. The formation was way too attacking and naïve, and by the time they changed it to five in midfield, LSK were already three goals down. Barcelona were far better than what Riise and the staff had seen on the dozens of DVDs of their previous games. You can always blame it on the fact that this was LSK's first competitive match in nearly four months, but that isn't enough. There is a mountain to climb in the return leg.

Toppserien 2019 kicked off this weekend:

    Sandviken 0 - 2 Røa
    Svastuen 56, Jensen 90

    LSK Kvinner 4 - 3 Kolbotn
    Abrahamsen 9, Reiten 73,89(p), Haavi 75 - Herlovsen 36,53, Eide Lie 44

    Lyn 0 - 0 Fart

    Klepp 1 - 0 Avaldsnes
    Terland 38

    Trondheims-Ørn 0 - 0 Arna Bjørnar

    Vålerenga 1 - 0 Stabæk
    Njoya 59

Highly ambitious Sandviken going down at home to Røa was surprising. For all the good players Sandviken have signed, they still haven't replaced Njoya up front with another top striker.

LSK were two goals down at one stage in their game, but sorted it out in the end. Another proof that they are not quite where they should be ahead of the Barcelona game.

I went back to that first post for nostalgia reasons, and I have to thank you for the idea you had when you wrote it, @Bauser. Women's section of BigSoccer is a better place since the Norway thread exists! :)

Also, I agree that Synne Jensen's goal was spectacular: definitely the best one of the three for me.

:cautious: Interesting.....Per the NFF website, Norway was to play North Korea youth game in Fiumicello, Italy on 3/28/19. No write up nor score (even if was 0-0, it should show that and a summary written). I think perhaps it did not take place. Mysterious

Wow, LSK Kvinner not only leaves Europe, after their loss in UEFA WCL, but they also have problems in the domestic league!

Ok, it's just an away draw vs Avaldsnes, but last season they were winning them all.

Synne Jensen's chip was voted Goal of the Week from matchday 1. Synne is back with another entry in this week's competition.

2nd Matchday - Goal of the Week candidates:

    1 - Synne Jensen, Røa (vs Trondheims-Ørn)
2 - Maria Brochmann, Sandviken (vs Fart)
3 - Runa Lillegård, Lyn (vs Arna Bjørnar)

This time I'm voting for the speedy little teenage dribbler, Runa Lillegård. We've highlighted her on this thread last year.
