Well, Rennais can't say they didn't have opportunities.

True. If they knew how to stay onside and then finish, they'd probably have one the tie. But that's a big IF.

I only have 2 complaints from this match really:

    1) We should've put them away more emphatically, especially after we scored 2 quick goals. We definitely coulda/shoulda done this. We gambled with fire and won... but just.

    2) We picked up 4 yellows, which shows a lack of discipline which could become a factor. At least one of those coulda been a red. And Laca was lucky not to get a 2nd yellow late on.

And what's the yellow card accumulation rule at this stage? Or do we not have to worry because they get wiped after the next round??

Did Ozil totally give up on the play that led to second goal?

Napoli and then a trip to Spain in the semis if we make it.

Meanwhile, Chelsea get a cupcake walk to the final comparatively.

Napoli are the Spurs of Italy, except even weaker mentally.

I don't like them reversing the fixtures tho.

Then we have to use that to our advantage and make the first leg a dominant win and take the spirit out of them before they get to host. Aim for a 3-0 win and then get an away goal to kill the tie. Arsenal do have that potential.

Meanwhile the Spanish clubs are enigmatic in their form and neither in particular frightens me. Should Arsenal manage to pass Napoli I think they'll feel confident against either potential SF opponent.

So Napoli it is. Let's do this!

If the planets align, this sets up a Semi against Santi Cazorla, and a Final against Olivier Giroud.

Wouldn't those 2 gents have a little something to prove, huh?

But I'm getting WAY ahead of myself. :D

Don't forget the newly-acquired Christian Pulisic in blue in that Final, I want an all-English final, Arsenal v Chel$ki (can you say $70M for The Wonderkid from Hershey, PA)

We will be, nothing makes a Gooner feel more at home, even on the road, like a big win with maybe a couple of away goals to seal us our second straight trip to the UEL semi-finals!!!

Not this year. Pulisic is being "loaned" to Dortmund for the remainder of this season.

ok, it doesn't deserve its own thread, and the tickets & travel portion of the forum isn't exactly hopping, so I'll just ask this here.

what are the odds of the first leg v Napoli going on general sale? er … asking for a friend.

....and then, with the assumption that Eden Hazard is leaving Chel$ki that Christian Pulisic will rightfully get the #10 shirt just like he currently wears for the USMNT. OH BOY!!! I hope Stan Kroenke is ready with his checkbook to load up for a possible TITLE RUN next season, I expect the summer transfer window to be a plenty busy one for both him and Unai Emery to make sure Unai's Red Army will be ALL-GO for an all-or-nothing run.

Besides, if Stan Kroenke can load (and reload) the LA Rams (old-skool LOS ANGELES Raiders fan since 1982 speaking) for another crack at the Super Bowl, with guys like QB Jared Goff and RB Todd Gurley, then he can put some more in for the Arsenal much like he did last year when we signed Laca and Auba (and look at what they've done for us), we need a suitable replacement supersub for Aaron Ramsey since he's going to Juventus next year and we need one BIG-TIME!!!, maybe Matt Guendouzi can fill that role someday, who knows. We also need another stud in the back line like Socrates has been (surprisingly) for us this season, as long as he doesn't make any mental mistakes he could very well become the next Sol Campbell (BIG-STRETCH there but a hunch I am willing to play if I was Unai Emery!!!). Someone who can cancel out guys like Harry Kane, Christian Pulisic, Wilfred Zaha and the Liverpool "Big-3" (Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino) is an absolute must this summer transfer window.

....and another thing, PLAY OZIL MORE next season before he starts getting bad vibes and wants to leave, why do you think we paid so much for him in 2013... He is an absolute stud in the midfield!!! I hope that he isn't in Unai Emery's doghouse, we need a playmaker like him and guys like Mesut Ozil just are irreplaceable, PLAY HIM UNAI!!!
