speaking of Bochum, there is another CB in 97-Lorenz, on loan to 1860 Munich in 3rd Liga, doing well enough there helping the team to still be in 2BL promotion although a bit far off.

the non German 98-Pavlidis on loan to Eredivisie where he's playing well.

99-Bapoh on loan to Dutch 2nd division, he's actually the nephew of Cameroon Legend Samuel Eto'o.

these 3 will return in Summer, which adds even more players.

99s with pro debuts in 1BL-2BL (also includes Eredivisie) or in Europe/Cup
Amade, Baak, Goden, G-L Itter, Gurleyen, Czyborra, Baack, Maloney, Shabani, Goller, Dardai, Maina, Fein, Kade
Tillman, Shreck, Akkaynak, Maier, Atilgan, D.Otto, Kruger, Wintzheimer, Kaya, Havertz, Beste, Hartel, N.Schlotterbeck
    Hayri Ozkan

Bench appearances: Knothe, Beyreuther, J.Meier, Will, Roesch, Opoku, Musel, Smarsch, Bartels

These are the guys at the top of my head, could be missing some.

Some on this list made the bench or their debuts last season though. Doesn't include the 99s with pro contracts or train with 1st team but who currently play regularly in II. Or the ones like Luca Kilian from Dortmund II who is being linked heavily with joining Paderborn in 2BL in Summer. He won't be the 1st or last who will move from their current clubs whether they are listed above or not. Players do move up after all. Or ones like Agu or any 99 from Osnabruck and other 3rd Liga clubs who's club are in good position for 2BL promotion.

    speaking of 99 players Steinkotter

Steinkötter is a top scorer with pent-up demand
Mönchengladbach U23 coach Arie van Lent praises the development of Justin Steinkötter, but still sees a lot of room for improvement. Against Cologne, the top scorer could still play from the start.

"I am absolutely satisfied with his development. Especially in the last race, he did a really good job, worked great for the team in Wuppertal, and then it was great to assume that he was once again on the bench against Kaan-Marienborn, "says coach Arie van Lent. "The boy has a goal instinct that can not be denied him. Of course he also has deficits that he knows about, such as the game with his back to the gate, but he goes well into the depths and can prevail, I like that. He definitely has the future if he wants to continue learning, but I believe that. "

and an update on injured players
The missing Mika Hanraths, Ali Abu-Alfa and Tilmann Jahn are again available to van Lent. Only Florian Mayer will be missing after his cruciate ligament tear.

Steinkotter is actually tied with Musel 2 19 year olds, helping Gladbach II to be 4th place in West. It's good to see him do well. Steinkotter was the U19 West top scorer last season.

Gladbach II might not end up in 1st place in West but based on current standings they are well within the bounds of ending up in 2nd place in RL West, only 3 pts separates between #2 and #4.

and I did post like a month ago a post about how Eberl-Gladbach decided not to get another youth striker (for now) because they wanted to trust their own from their Academy. Which based on those comments is likely about Musel (II), Steinkotter (II), Dressen (U19), and Harnafi (U17).

    Hi guys,

    Just a quick one.

Was Felix Nmecha on your u19 squad lists for November & October ? I seem to remember he wasn't ? Definitely not Novemeber or am I mistaken ?

Busy talking about it in our u19 thread at the moment.

believe he was called up in Oct but withdrew and then we stopped calling him up as it seemed like he wanted England. Doesn't seem like he wanted to play for Germany tbh.

don't know about F.Nmecha's intentions but I've seen numerous stories about how players purposefully accept call ups from other federations to force a move from the federation they really want to play for. And we did call him up for U18 1st when England had ignored him for almost 3 years than after that England started to call him up again.

DFB coach Stefan Kuntz has nominated the squad of the U-21 national team for the last two official matches before the U21 European Championship in Italy and San Marino (16 to 30 June 2019). The team meets in France on 21 March (18.30, live on Eurosport) in Essen and five days later, on 26 March, in Bournemouth, England (20.45, live on ProSieben Maxx). Nadiem Amiri (TSG 1899 Hoffenheim) and Lukas Klunter (Hertha BSC), both U 21 European Champions in 2017, return to the 24-strong squad, Florian Mueller (1st FSV Mainz 05) and Emmanuel Iyoha (FC Erzgebirge Aue) are available their debut in the U 21 and Luke Nmecha (Preston North End) could be used for the first time for a German U-national team. Previously, the native of Hamburg, who owns a German passport, had already played for English youth national teams. Lukas Klostermann (RB Leipzig) and Maximilian Eggestein (SV Werder Bremen) were appointed by Joachim Loew for the first time in the squad of the senior team. Stefan Kuntz says: "We have deliberately picked out the top favorites for the last two games before the EURO, which will be two real tests, after which we will know where we stand and in which areas we may still be facing I look forward to Lukas Nmecha and Emmanuel Iyoha, who will be there for the first time, as well as some players who have been missing out on various occasions in recent games. " Joti Chatzialexiou, Sports Director National Teams, added: "Lukas Nmecha has expressed his interest in playing for the DFB and his native Germany and we would like to support the player in this project, which is why we have requested FIFA to change association.Regardless of whether this is up to the games, Lukas and the team can use the international match to get to know each other. He's not in the France squad, just completely ignored, like I mentioned a few days ago.

Nmecha is different than Sabiri though as he'd be now permanently tied to Germany no switching anymore. While Sabiri could still go to Morocco.

Germany's youth development falling behind Europe - Low
Germany coach Joachim Low has said the country's academies are falling behind other European nations in producing modern footballers.

Low made the comments after the Germany squad for this month's friendly and European Championship qualifier matches, which included three uncapped players, was announced.

Referring to the Bundesliga's problems in Europe this term Low said Germany's academies have been overtaken by "England, France and Belgium who have all developed one-on-one players with individual qualities."

"The game has become more intense and even faster," he said.

"There is less time to make decisions and fewer pockets of space you can go into. The future is to put more focus on the cognitive part of a player's development."

it makes sense that we poached L.Nmecha if one looks at 98 strikers it's pretty much this.

J.Eggestein, Daferner, Warschewski, Ache, Amenyido, Stark,Engelhardt ,Serra, Berisha and a bunch of others who are also in RL. Maybe some I forget in 3rd Liga......

Top 2 divisions: J.Eggestein, Serra, Berisha. Ache (long term injury made him lose his place)

3rd Liga: Warschewski (injuries and professionalism issues as well as being outshone by 00-Akono), Amenyido (took forever to do something in 3rd Liga).

RL: Stark, Daferner, Engelhardt and pretty much the most of the rest. I mean they are 21 still playing RL. Pretty much no career progress, not saying to jump to 1BL. But still too low level.

Someone like Daferner needs to move up in Summer. Engelhardt maybe will get a chance with FCN in 2BL? Amenyido's club is in contention for 2BL promotion, although we've seen numerous players who end up back in 3rd Liga on loan to get match practice the following season.....

98 outside of Serra and J.Eggestein has been a pretty bad year for strikers. Seems like everyone is a late bloomer, delayed pro careers. Heck if one remembers even Serra had a lost year due to long term injury and J.Eggestein's progress was delayed last season due to returning from injury.

We'll see in Summer transfer movements for this age group and then if they get chances to show themselves and really be in consideration for next U21 cycle.

Although if one is honest 2 strikers making it from an age group is still not too bad. Some of our older/previous age groups had like 1 relevant striker in the entire age group.

2BL in action with some interesting dev.

    Kiel vs Aue
    Kiel: Serra is absent.
XI: GK-Reimann (making his pro debut today), Dehm, Karazor
Bench: GK Weiner (another 99 making 1st team bench, first time for him), Seydel (back from long term injury and played II over weekend), Kammerbauer, Sicker, Awuku and Bisseck. Also ex German international Evina.

hopefully Bisseck and Awuku get some game time.

    Aue
    XI:Kusig, Kauper and lyoha
Bench:Kruger (been absent due to injury last 3 games),

    Heidenheim vs Union
    Union
    XI: Hartel
    Bench Mees

    Heidenheim
    XI: Dorsch
    Bench: K.Sessa, Reithmeir, Multhaup

    RL
    Jakobs (2nd)

    Dutch 2nd division
speaking of Ache, he started today and scored the winner to make it 2-1 in a 3-1 win. His 1st start of the season since his return from long term injury and 1st goal of the season. Sparta are in contention for Eredivisie promotion, relegated last season.

    2BL
-Seydel off the bench on his return scores his 2nd of the season.

1st game with Kiel since Sept, that's one long injury, this season Seydel is at.
    2 goals in 4 games in 2BL
1 assist in 1 game in Cup
2 goals and 1 assist in 5 games in all competition.

still time to salvage the season and then we'll see what Mainz does with him in Summer.

-Awuku played 6 min in his 2nd pro cap
-Sicker made his season debut playing 3 min. 2nd cap after 1 game last season.
-Reimann's debut ended up with him only conceding 1. Hopefully he becomes #1 in Summer
-99-Reithmeir played his 2nd pro game for Heidenheim playing 7 min while Mees and Multhaup came off the bench.

    1BL
Stenzel assists Freiburg's opener vs Gladbach.
    https://streamja.com/zzGR

also starting are K.Schlotterbeck and Waldschmidt. While N.Schlotterbeck (unused, hopefully he gets more game time once Freiburg are 100% safe from relegation battle, 12 pts ahead with 8 games to go, seems all but certain they are safe), Okoroji (unused) and Neuhaus (played 17 min) were on the bench.

In other 1BL news from FCN
-Goden should be back in team training next week
-Fabian Nurnberger made a good impression but will not make the squad.

    Kiel boys.
"Everyone wants such a comeback after such a long time," Seydel, who had put a protracted heel injury out of action, is quoted on the club's website. "For a long time I was unsure if the conservative path of my rehab was the right one, but as you can see now, it has turned out to be the right option."

And also for goalkeeper Dominik Reimann it was a special day. The 21-year-old, who had taken the place between the posts due to the injury of goalkeeper Kenneth Kronholm (hip problems), had only once behind the unsuccessful first goal by Jan Hochscheidt (26) and was allowed to cheer for his professional debut , "It was really a lot of fun," said the debutant, who gave his front man a very good testimonial: "The team has also made it easy for me."
    http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...nes-explosion-und-seydels-traum-comeback.html

also speaking of L.Nmecha, plenty of reports are saying that Man City is at big risk of getting a transfer ban. If they do get banned could be a some Man City chances at some point next season.

    speaking of another cb 98-Chabot.
SOCCER SALE, EXCLUSIVE: ROME IRROMPE ON CHABOT

THE YOUNG DEPENDER OF THE GRONINGEN LIKE DIFFERENT SERIES A CLUB
ROME CHABOT FOOTBALL - Last month we revealed the interest of several Serie A clubs for Julian Chabot. From Turin to Sampdoria, passing through Atalanta to the Ligue 1 and Bundesliga formations, the French-German central defender of the 1998 class has bewitched half of Europe.

Despite his young age, he is standing as a bulwark of the backward department: if Groningen is fighting for a place in the Europa League, the merit is also his, given that the green-and-whites have the sixth best defense of the Eredivisie in the face of the fifth best attack. According to information gathered by Calciomercato.it, now Rome is also in the running for the 21-year-old native of Hanau. In the summer the Giallorossi should make a revolution in the back pack: the idea is to focus on young and talented players. An identikit that goes perfectly with Chabot.

It'll be interesting to see how L.Nmecha compares to his domestic based 98 counterparts. This season in the Championship, he's been kind of like Selke providing a bunch of assists, 1G and 7 A in 32 league matches. So he's still a work in progress.

    While Serra in 2BL has 10 G and 5 A in 24 MP, plus 1 more goal in the Pokal. And J.Eggestein has 3 G and 2 A in 17 MP, plus 1 G and A in the Pokal.

Big game from Marvin Mehlem bagging a brace for Darmstadt to beat HSV. He's been getting better this season. The U21 has good depth already and it's tough to get in, otherwise he potentially could be among consideration.

I really dislike how these German clubs block their own players with loans from British kids....

you got D.Otto/Hack who get blocked because Nelson is on loan and is preferred over them. Instead of developing players who will be here next season and from their Academy. They are doing the work for Arsenal. Thought Hoff had pride in their Academy work.....

Augsburg who loan in Oxford who pretty much sucked and he played 4 full games. Instead of playing F.Gotze who've they've praised in the past. So when will they trust him????

RB Leipzig takes an English youngster on loan from Arsenal who comes injured, still injured and 8 games to go. Issue is that they promised the kid he will get playing time if he comes on loan......wait the same freaking club who doesn't play their own Academy players 0 min in whole league, worst in the whole league. Want to help dev a player from EPL and avoid their Academy players like plague.....So how are U19 players supposed to breakthrough when club blocks them and doesn't trust them....

nothing but clubs being feeder clubs for EPL......

U19 (this weekend is pretty much catch up games)
    X3: Quarshie
    X2: Engelhardt
X1: Beier, Calhanoglu, Schappes, Held, Neukirch, Philipp, Zoch, Niehues, Bornemann

    interesting that
02-Marco John (XI), Maximilian Beier (sub) and Kerim Calhanoglu (XI), made their U19 debuts today in a 7-2 win over FCK. And 2/3 scored on their debuts.

DFB Junior Cup, Final will be RB Leipzig vs Stuttgart.
Stuttgart beat defending champs Freiburg 4-0. Goals by Dajaku X2, Hottmann and Lockl
RB beat Dortmund 1-1 and 10-9 on PK. Goals by Talabidi and Knoop

    RL
Nurnberger (2nd, same guy who barely missed out on making FCN's 1st team squad), Stossberger, Endres (4th), Schaub

    3rd Liga
-Tietz scored his 7th of the season in a 3-1 loss to top of the table Osnabruck. Assist by Kubler who's played every game in XI since his Winter move. That's one player (Kubler) that needs rescuing if Jena get relegation. For Osnabruck Pfeiffer had a goal and assist in the win.
-Sontheimer assisted the winning goal in a 2-1 win for WK over 1860 Munich
-Grill with another clean sheet, 5 in 9 games and only conceding 6 since becoming #1.

    2BL
-Mehlem scored a brace as Darmstadt downed 2BL top team HSV 3-2.

His 4th of the season to make it 1-2.
    https://streamable.com/sinzd

His 5th of the season and winner to make it 3-2 win.Nice goal.
    https://streamable.com/4jbgl

-Rother scored his 1st of the season in a 1-1 draw vs Dynamo.
    https://streamable.com/js0s3
-Arp played 12 min in the 3-2 loss while David was unused. Lankford made his St Pauli debut in a 4-0 loss, playing 84 min. Carstens seems to have lost his place in defense but who knows that 4-0 loss could make change next match. Atilgan played 27 min in a 1-1 draw.

    1BL
-Barkok started his 4th game out of the last 5 for Fortuna
-Uduokhai played 6 min+injury time while Rexhbecaj was unused.
-Purchase of Kabak (Turk) and long term injury has made Baumgartl lose his XI place. Once again, so many German youngsters have lost their XI places due to injuries.Amiri was unused bench player today.
-Richter played 90 min today in Augsburg's 3-1 win. Maina played 80 min and had some involvement in H96's weird opening goal in a 3-1 loss. Muslija replaced him for last 10 min.

J.Eggestein has the edge for playing in 1st division, the other 2 are in 2nd division. Not sure, what 2nd division is superior? Feels like 2BL is a bit higher and less diluted than Championship. Although would be surprising if Serra doesn't go to 1BL this Summer with his good form given his age and that 2BL in general it's mostly dominated by late 20s/early 30s strikers. I really hope to see at least Daferner jump up to min 2BL in Summer for the 98 and Ache in Eredivsisie would be good too.

speaking of L.Nmecha played full game as PNE won 1-0. PNE are in contention for EPL promotion with 10 games to go. Could be interesting if they get promotion and goes on loan again or if Man City gets transfer ban he might be forced to stay at City.

forget to mention that 01-Grimm of Stuttgart U19 got injured with what looks like a possible serious knee injury today in Stuttgart's trashing 4-0 win over Freiburg. Sucks since Grimm was in pretty good form for Stuttgart this season, a club filled with attacking potential. Only lasted 22 min today.

also means he's likely out of Germany U18 squad. Chance for Jastremski who's currently on call???

speaking of DFB Junior Cup, current top scorer this season is Dajaku at 4 goals.
