Are we in court where I must provide evidence? Jokes aside, believe me or don't but scouts do come and observe in Canada. Again, it's not across the board in every provinces, it's targeted. Dino Rossi, commissioner of L10 said it many times which resulted to some L10 players being offered opportunities to train / trial or signed over the years. You think I don't know what I'm talking about and I think you're wrong about saying that not a soul from Europe comes to Canada, Let's leave it at that because citing one specific case hardly constitute proof that you're right in regards to Canada...certainly not Ontario Montreal has no clue about talent outside of the Montreal area, let alone Atlantic Canada, It's not that academies and EXCEL don't try to refer talents to pro, it's that in many cases, they don't bother pick up the phone or take a look. It's been pure political BS at that level which you clearly know nothing about. The hopes is that CPL competing for talent ends some of that BS and we can go back at pushing the best talent regardless of allegiance from coast to coast. Maybe, maybe not, we'll have to see. I see, but I think he's wrong
Not yet. Seems like the league might be trying to get an advantage in salary negotiations by keeping everyone in the dark on salaries.while locking them down on average over 3 years

Yes, bad for the team and the league. De Jong signing with CPL was a massive vote of confidence towards the league and a chance to get a CPL crest as a started in this year starting XI at the Gold Cup. Family. #PacificFC #CanPL pic.twitter.com/xU85UPkePS— Pacific FC (@Pacificfccpl) March 16, 2019
Edmonton "produced" Alphonso Davies SCORES in Bundesliga https://streamja.com/gQMW In the 70' @AlphonsoDavies volleys in a rebound from about 10 yards. Excellent technique. Youngest league scorer for around 20 years in the #Bundesliga #FCBM05— Canucks Abroad (@Canucks_Abroad) March 17, 2019
Shouldn’t that be in the CanMNT thread, not here? You’re also forgetting the three seasons he spent in Vancouver That being said.. He was left back at the time of his goal.. Seems an odd position for him, but Bayern were up by 5 goals at that point, so maybe defense wasn’t a high priority..
Good news for Halifax. It would be nice if the article said 500 remaining out of how many. I'm actually planning on being in Halifax this summer but, unfortunately, no home games during my visit. But maybe I wouldn't be able to get tickets anyway.
Now that the USL has started and the CPL is getting close to opening up I took a look at transfermarkt and found out why I don't recognize very many names. They have the average players at about 65K GBP about half that of the average USL Championship player and only 20K GBP above the USL One teams. Of course the USL values are deceiving as the entire North Texas (Dallas) roster is valued at 23K GBP. The reason is that they are going to have many guys listed on the FC Dallas roster actually playing in games. It wasn't uncommon to find $1M or worth of MLS players on the field for their affiliates opening week. So if European scouts wanted to see Atlanta's George Bello or Andrew Carleton play they would flock to would be the USL and not MLS. They'd also likely find Jaylin Lindsey on the field for Swope Park and not Sporting KC and so on. Chattanooga Red Wolves SC roster was valued at 1.69M GBP which is higher than Pacific FC which is currently, highest CPL team. Now I'm sure the the CPL teams are going to add more players. I'm even more sure the transfermarkt undervalues north american players and thus undervalues a league with mostly Canadian kids - so I take those values with quite a few grains of salt as well. That said, unless the CPL teams are keeping their powder really dry so to speak, there is no way it will be "no worse than USL championship" as you have claimed, let alone a lot better as you had previously claimed. Louisville which is around the 10th highest valued team has two players that were called up on Jamaica's national team. Now Jamaica is not exactly a world beater but they are ranked 54 by FIFA as compared to 79 for Canada. You've spouted a lot of your opinions on how poor USL is a how CPL is going to be so much better. However, objective data hasn't been lending much support to your credibility. Bad mouthing USL and MLS teams is poor way of trying to gain support for CPL.
Transfermarkt "values" are completely, utterly worthless. They are literally just a bunch of fans opinions. If you compare the "value" and what a player is actually sold for there is very little relationship. Don't waste your time trying to analyze them.
No, no - Canadian players never develop in MLS. Any skills Davies had he acquired in Edmonton. He'll probably continue to develop now that he's moved on to Germany but he didn't improve at all between the ages of 14 and 18 while in Vancouver.
Very true.. I mean, sure, Vancouver brought him into their academy when he was 14, signed him to a USL contract the next spring, then to a senior contract that summer, but he totally counts as a Canadian that MLS clubs missed.
I had posted that people said that he regressed under Robinson when they were obsessed at playing him out of position at LB. But hey that doesn't matter His time in Edmonton is grossly undervalued and minimized by the Whitecaps PR machine. Totally understandable don't get me wrong but far from the whole picture
Just quoting this part because you lost me at transfermarkt No. I see it for what it is, not as the "best D2 league in the world" as some in that league and fans like to delusion themselves with. Long term? Yes. Nothing is perfect. I'm the biggest Habs fan you could find and I can point you out to ways they can be better, improve and what they do wrong or BS stuff they do on and off the ice. Same for CPL. I like the business model a lot but once they start playing, you can bet that I will be pointing out flaws in that league. I've been a Montreal Impact fan pre MLS, criticizing doesnt mean I don't wish them well, but there's flaws that merits to be pointed out. No need to be so sensitive. You think CPL will be USL 2 at best. Ok! I respect your opinion and disagree with it. Time will tell then.

Lol.. Yeah.. so undervalued that they gave his time in Edmonton 6 minutes of an 18 minute tribute to him (first 5 were about his parents life in Liberia and the Ghanaian refugee camp). Seriously, its all in your head. The Whitecaps fully acknowledge his time in Edmonton and the importance of his coaches in him becoming the person and player that he is. Just give it up on Davies. The Whitecaps knew about him from the time he was 12 or 13 years old and it was a decision between his parents, Wdmonton coaches, and the Whitecaps that delayed him from joining their resudency until he was almost 15.
Everything is all ot nothing with you? We all watch that documentary so you posting it here like a "ha ha" moment doesn't change the perception. Davies always rep Edmonton really hard, it be silly of the Whitecaps not to bring up his time there. Im talking actual season ticket holders meetings, media articles press releases and other ways of PR communications where they had a habit of taking all the credit. Good on them to acknowledge it in that clip (that we all seen) but by the time he arrived at the Whitecaps system, he was already a prodigy. Not saying the Caps did nothing, but they have exaggerated many times in the past and again "understandable" but I'm informing those who might not know that Edmonton did a FN good job at managing his talent. This isn't a dick measuring contest, it's about not forgetting and acknowledging that other youth system are capable as well in Canada
22 years old Anthony Legendre was on trial for CPL and was cut. He's now a starter in USL. This isn't an attempt at rubbing it in, just showing further evidence that those or the one claiming that CPL will be way weaker than USL might want to reconsider this 1109546128377372672 is not a valid tweet id

Talk about all or nothing. Seriously man, no team acknowledges a player’s previous teams (unless they come from a bigger team). Bayern isn’t going to mention his time in Vancouver.. ManU never hyped Rooney’s time in Everton’s academy. Barca never references Messi’s time in Newell’s Old Boys, etc, etc. The whole point of press releases, season tickets releases, etc. is to hype the team he’s currently playing for. Why would they hype another team? You need to drop Davies from your anti-MLS rhetoric. He’s an example of the system working. The Whitecaps had a relationship with his Edmonton team that brought them out to Vancouver to train and play with their residency program every year. He was identified by the Whitecaps as a prospect when he was 12 or 13, sent home with a list of things he needed to improve on, and then he was brought into the Whitecaps’ residency program the next year when he had improved on all the issues they had. Up until the point he joined the team, there is literally nothing else the Whitecaps could have done better with him.. The only issue you could have is that he didn’t get enough playing time once he was signed by the first team. He really should have been a starter by halfway through the 2017 season, but he still got over 1000 minutes, played in 26 games and started 9.
Oh whatever sure. The whole convo started about the "so so" track record of our 3 MLS developmental system. It's important and relevant to point out that systems outside those 3 can do well as well. Some in Germany pointed out to his regression to his time in Vancouver at a time when Robinson played him out of position. But hey, the system works and those eurosnobs don't know anything. Talk about all or nothing yourself... Everything is great in Canada thanks to MLS rethoric is equally absurd. No Gold cups, no world cup participations (senior or youth teams)...but results are irrelevant right... I said understandable You need to drop that nothing outside of MLS is relevant in Canada rhetoric yourself. Take a second and realize that at the minute you're given examples of accomplishments outside of the MLS system, how fast you get defensive towards MLS or downplay it immediately without taking an interest in it not acknowledging that both can work. That's ok. Quite amusing really but what's so radical about saying that both paths can work? That's what I'm saying Yes the system works but it does as well in regards to talents emerging out of those 3 teams. With CPL, both paths can work You miss my entire point in being so defensive of whatever you perceive as anti-MLS. The whole point is that those 3 teams should be doing better in terms of development. It's not just my opinion. So you're claiming that you Yoshou, knows better than the CSA that has been critical of the status quo, knows better than those in the developmental circles who pointed (despite the good they've done) the wrong that saw so many talents being wasted for the wrong reason. You want me to stop my perceive anti-MLS crusade, how about you stop this MLS is holier than saints and that anything happening outside those 3 is either a fluke or not worth mentioning in Canada? The MLS system on it's own is insufficient to Canada's needs to excel, fact. The CPL pathway is needed to give Canada that extra edge needed to play to it's true potential. Both paths can work, and things are already changing in developmental dynamic on the ground. The OPDL already identified 2 paths to pro ALL the provincial bodies are moving towards that direction...but, you know better. Ok. Cheers
