The fact that he wasn't ejected for this:

will always consign him to Hell in my Universe.

That was a douche move. I will say I was surprised to learn many years later that Laettner wasn't a rich kid. He looked the part so very much.

It amazes me how moderates (both registered Republicans and independents) shrug this stuff off. Trump's association with such people should be an automatic disqualifier, no ifs, ands, or buts.

I've talked to enough of them to know that they truly believe that HIllary Clinton is as bad a person as a Nazi-coddling, terrorist-apologizing, wife-cheating, tax-defrauding, pussy-grabbing, serial liar who churns through staff, pretty much off of whom immediately denounce him after leaving their posts.

Which, I think, tells much more about them than it does Hillary Clinton, given that she coddles no Nazis, apologizes for no terrorists, neither cheats on her spouse nor grabs genitals (from what we know), has published 20 years' worth of tax statements, is about average honesty for a politician, and by all accounts is well regarded by her staff.

I agree on all accounts, except that many think the "Nazi-coddling, terrorist-apologizing, wife-cheating, tax-defrauding, pussy-grabbing, serial liar who churns through staff, pretty much off of whom immediately denounce him after leaving their posts" is a much better person.
Many believe he is America's Greatest President (which speaks volumes about them).

Kid on Syracuse tried to trip Zion Williamson last night. Back in my CYO days I saw benchclearing brawls break out for hard fouls.

And he stayed in the game where he later made the last second shot that rubs in the face of all UK fans until the end of time.

Also, the shot is on every NCAA tournament TV ad....so there's that.

Fun fact...a player had committed an ejectable foul against Laettner in the 1991 NCAAs that the refs didn’t see, so the player was suspended for the first game in 1992. the whole game. I think it was a UConn player.

That’s what made the injustice of it all so much worse.

Ejected and gotten another game suspension, if they advanced. He got neither. This was one of the most obviously unfairly officiated games you will ever see. Look at a couple of the late fouls called on Mashburn, too. A joke. But I digress.

I think it was a 30 for 30 episode on him did a good deal to change my views of him. I'm still not a fan, but I don't loath him the way I used to.
That was in a era where Duke could do no wrong and were "unfair victims of all the hate." Yeah, Hurley could be a dick, Laettner could be a dick, and they were definitely deferred to in many calls.
For all the unfairness of him still being in the game, I do give him credit in that it was a great pressure shot and he made it.

Funny moment a few years later. Mom was and is a big Duke fan, and a big Laettner fan (yeah, I give her shit about it often). So when when the T-wolves came to town in LA (who drafted Laettner), we went to see the game. Oh man, the boos Laettner got when introduced was hilarious. But he had the last laugh as the T-Wolves won that night by about 30 (I shit you not). The funnies part is when Jack Nicholson left - it was so quiet and boring that about half the fans started saying "By Jack!" Near the tunnel, he finally waved and that was the loudest cheer all night.

Through the years I've learned to acknowledge UK basketball. At 1st I loved it, but now I just tolerate it. I think it was the constant talking about it thright the entire year.

That year of UK basketball special. It was Jamal mashburn and 4 seniors. Those 4 seniors (The Unforgettables) stayed through the UK Recruiting violation scandal that left UK bball devastated. 4 homegrown players who, in a normal UK cycle, would have been practice fodder. Appearing only on senior night in Rupp Arena would have been the crowning achievement of their basketball career.

I can't believe anyone still gives a crap about Christian Laettner, and that includes Mrs. Laettner and the Laettner parents.

What, now we need a "Christian Laettner and douche bags college basketball players" thread?

Can it be combined with the Infrared thread, so I ignore both at the same time?

    Christian Laettner is so white...

    How white is he?

He's so white that self-driving cars pull over and let him drive them.

I'm not sure but if you want to eliminate Laettner you should do it at night and for that you'll need infrared. :coffee:

    I don't.
However, some aging, incredibly white dude named Christian who is an active fisherman sounds pretty much right up Fox News' alley.

Wonder what CL is politically. Grew up middle class. Become a Duke hero and embodied the whole popped collar/I'm-better-than-you unhumble Duke ethos. Pro baller for about a decade. OMG...could he be an IC?
