Excluding January camp games that Nova wouldn't be eligible for, Zardes has 100 minutes (in 2 caps) on-field with the US since the T&T catastrophe. Nova has 47 in 3 appearances. Your point is taken, but Zardes isn't the right scapegoat.
It's mainly about the context of the camp. We had a Camp Cupcake with NO European players. Instead of using the March Friendlies to get a good look at the fringe Euros, GB called in 9 of them, most of which are our lock-starters (WM, CP, TA, JAB, etc). Meanwhile, we just saw Zardes in January Camp, during which he was outperformed by Christian Ramirez in substitute minutes.
Fair. The roster for this camp is awful. I'll end my part in the national team discussion here before I get scolded by any mods.
If he could get on the field for the US he might be able to show something. 15 minutes at the end of 3 games is silly. And he was hurt at the beginning of the season, so production took a hit. The overall picture has not been completed.
I agree and his team don’t play him the ball enough to where he could get double digits this season. I feel in a better team Nova could be a star.
If he wants to reach double digits this game and the one when they host Breda (April 21st) are the games to do it.
Had an accidental assist that caromed off him for a golazo ruled off on replay (if only they had replayed his awesome would be game-winning goal down a man from him earlier in the season). Immediately after had an intentional likely assist following a great dribbling run, screwed up by his teammate. Chipped the ball over the top of the defense to play the guy in, but he didn't look over his shoulder and let it hit him in the back of his head. Now he just beat the last man off the dribble and forced the defender to pull him down with all his might for a red card. Probably would have been another goal. Not bad stuff from a "terrible" player. I hope Shaft Brewer does an every touch for this performance so we get context on it in totality. A lot of ignorance expressed toward this guy without it.
I would make an all-touch but I'm having trouble finding the goals from this game so I doubt I can find the full match.
The assist: https://cc.sporttube.com/embed/GR7CCCG/no-preload The goal: https://cc.sporttube.com/embed/1R7CCCG/no-preload Impressive jump for the assist, like the stuff McKennie does. The goal also a very good header, like a bullet. Let's not get carried away though: Emmen is one of worst teams in the league. But today was perhaps the best game by Nova this season.
You can't control who your opponent is but you can control what you do to your opponent. Nova responded to being snubbed by Berhalter with a goal and assist. You can't ask for much more. Hats off to the Nova. Keep doin' what you're doin'. Big game. Big result in a log jammed, tightly packed Eredivisie table from 11th-16th. Fortuna are slowly creeping away from the relegation payoffs.
The fun part is that it's so thight the moment you creep just out of the danger zone, you then are in the play off chances zone for an EL spot
I'm pretty sure he's not age eligible. Turns 24 at the end of next year. He's always seemed to miss the cutoff for youth teams. If his mom truly loved him she'd have induced labor months earlier to set her son up with a better life.
Nice to see him use his height effectively. I haven't seen much of that before (not that I watch anything other than highlights and USMNT appearances).
