There are a few players on this list that blow my mind, especially Suarez - a 30 year old domestic player.

Why is Gonzalo Escalante never considered for the NT? He plays regularly for a mid-table La Liga side, has good size (as opposed to Ascacibar), and is a responsible player.

We all know Paredes needs help in the middle of the field. He can't play as a lone 5 against other top sides. A midfield of Lo Celso - Paredes - Escalante - De Paul could be solid and creative.

Also, Aguero will be at the Copa this summer. Mark my words. The guy is fire. Should have started vs France instead of Pavon who did nothing.

You could say Messi is saving lots of energy for possibly winning another treble + CA.

It is heading to another similar season like 2014-2015 where he came close to securing 4 major thropies but lost in CA final. He had another chance to emulate that but hopefully winning the CA.

Still a goal & an assist though.

Pretty gutless display by Cholo. They basically gave away the tie to Juventus as they tried to defend for the entire game.

This is one of the reasons I'd never want him ever coaching the sleccion. Passionate? Yes. Demands and gets respect? Yes... But, he has no plan B.

Don't understand why he didn't start A.Correa when they were really lacking someone who can run with the ball with pace. Especially for a team that is counter attacking.

It's kind of a recurring problem with Simeone. He never seems to learn from it.. I've lost count of how many times "defending" a lead has been his teams' demise.

Just transfer talk for now, but TyC is reporting that Atletico Madrid is targetting Lucas Alario

    https://www.tycsports.com/nota/luca...alario-en-la-mira-del-atletico-de-madrid.html

I don't know if it'd be the best place for him to go (simply considering how they already have Griezmann, Morata, Costa, etc.), but I would like to see him leave Bayer Leverkusen. He's such a fantastic player that it's a shame he's since stepped into the shadows by moving to a shitty German club

Did you notice when A. Correa did come on? He lost the ball a few times and committed the foul that gave Juve the penalty. No wonder why he wasn't selected for the NT. Terrible showing. I'll give it up, it was a blasphemous penalty call. What a dive.

Gutless display from Atletico and Diego Simeone. Horrendous. They deserved what they got. 37% possession, 0 shots on goal, 0 corners won.

Aguero with the first 2 goals today in the 7-0 thrashing of Shelke. Aguero is leading the EPL in goals this year and was 3rd overall last year. Here's an idea: let's make him ride pine in the World Cup Round of 16. Incredibly stupid! This decision ranks up there with taking off Crespo for 32 year old Julio Cruz in 2006 by Pekerhead, while 19 yo fastest runner in the world Messi rides pine.

Aguero better be our #9 in the Copa this summer!

    Sincerely,
    your frustrated NT fan.

Correa was called-up for the March friendlies. Not that I particularly agree with the decision, but he will be there vs. Venezuela and Morocco (and possibly in the Copa America)

He did much better than both Lemar and Koke put together as they were invisible on both flanks. That penalty give away was incredibly stupid, but Atletico didn't look like scoring until he came on.

About his inclusion for the NT, I'll see what Scaloni has in mind before making any judgement as we really don't know what his plan is with the veterans now back.

Correa, I don't think will ever turn that corner. He's got a bit of talent but I was hoping he'd be far more developed than he is now. I think he needs to get out of Atlético and go to a team where he can play week in and week out. But the problem with him is that he simply has a low IQ and his talent isn't big enough for it to be overlooked.

    ------

I think Lautaro will be a gem. In his first season in Europe, he's done very well. He had a good showing v SPAL, scored a peach of a goal but was called back.

I am hoping he gets used during these two friendlies.

Hate to say but Cholo dont have an attitude of a champion. Defending since opening whistle? Thats almost worst than Pekerman. At least Pekerman team has fluid passing game.

With 2 goals lead, you can just go out and play for the third goal but then he decided to just park the bus. I want him to be NT manager at one point but I could see us losing in shootout or a late goal as usual with his ultra defensive gameplan.

He lost a CL final by defending 1 goal lead ( I know its almost work till 90 minutes) but it proof that he'd never learn because its his trademark way of playing. This is why AM will trail to Barca 14 out of 15 times because they just settle for narrow victory every week.

Forget about Correa, kid has potential at one point but now he's in same ship as Pastore. Lautaro is certainly our future, espcially with Icardi having a circus lifestyle.

If anyone's interested, the Copa 2020 will be co-hosted by Argentina and Colombia. The final will be played in Argentina.

So, we’re gonna have the Olympics, Euros, and another CA all around the same time?

Looks like my summer is set.

Messi with his A game in CL.. 2 goals + 2 assists

His second goal clearly just to piss off Pele, he could easily shoot it with his left.

    Was this you, Mario?

    https://www.minutouno.com/notas/1518166-lionel-chino-luna-el-insolito-nombre-que-un-fanatico-tigre-le-puso-su-Hilo

Well, I guess Chino atleast has some skill: apparently he can morph into Chino Maidana when things get rough

    https://www.ole.com.ar/copa-argentina/luna-tigre-pina-savedra-copa-argentina_0_tQimImm5W.amp.html

Jokes aside, I always liked him as a player, especially during his prime in the mid/late 2000’s. About as good as a Tigre player can ever be, to be honest :D

Yikes... that is one ugly baby...

Chino is the spirit of Tigre. He’s always been a different player when he’s played for Tigre. And before HipsterGaucho comes here starts talking about he couldn’t cut it with the big teams, stop it.

:DI’m just breaking your balls, Gaucho.

City down by 2 goals and then Aguero scored twice (one counted as own goal due to slight deflection) plus an assist after beating few defenders.

First off the penalty should not have been awarded. A dive. His second was offside. The club he plays for is intensely disliked here. As if they already don't have enough help as it is. There would be nowhere either but for the petrodollars. And Guardiola one of the biggest coaching frauds in the history of the game. A cheque book coach.

However Aguero must go to the Copa. He is the best striker we have. He is fully fit at last and was badly misused at the World Cup. He is one of the best PL strikers in history.

I am fairly pleased by the senior call ups. However I am surprised Pereyra made it in as he is off colour at present and invisible in matches. And I would like to have seen Asascibar retained (in a struggling team he has at the very least retained consistency of performance and will be off in the summer), Nicolas Dominguez called up along with Leonardo Godoy and Cristian Romero. Musso ought to get the start over Rulli who is still far too inconsistent to be considered a number one. Amazed Suarez got the call up. Along with Funes Mori who is nowhere near being an international level centreback. We have Otamendi, Kannemann, Pezzella, Romero plus the kids coming through to waste time with him. A calamity waiting to happen. Romero yesterday in goal pulls off a couple of decent reaction saves but his positioning on his near post for Jota to score was poor. Goodbye to him as well permanently please.

This is the u20 selection by Batista for the forthcoming friendlies as part of preparation for the World Cup in Poland. It is a far stronger squad than for the qualification tournament and better balanced minus a couple of players who are off form at present. It is great to see the clubs prepared to release kids for the selection and hopefully an indication of a more integrated overall plan in terms of developing players from u15 to seniors along with coaches and staff.

Once more there is a pleasant and welcome return to producing defenders at a high level and also it looks like the goalkeeping stakes are better stocked than in previous years. You have Pourtau and Roffo but two European based keepers both of whom are giants already in stature are also called up.

I don't know much about either but scouting reports paint glowing pictures of both. They are respectively Adrian Gimenez of Real Madrid and Joaquin Blazquez of Valencia. The former was born in Mallorca coming through the youth ranks before being spotted in youth tournaments and joing the Castilla. Blazquez cam through the Talleres cantera and is a regular for their B side. Both aged 18. Benjamin Garay younger brother of Ezequiel and a player in a very similar mould has played very solidly in the Youth CL and is also well worth considering alongside Perez and Balerdi this summer.

Yeah those goals were wholly undeserved. I feel bad for Swansea. Calling Pep a fraud is a bit much. Man City had the same checkbook before him and weren't playing near as well as they are now under him. So he does have an impact. But I do question if he would be any good without a certain level of talent.

I'm aware of that but from Kun stand point, he just did what he had to. For intense, Alves dived led to RM red card back in 2011 and Messi ended up with 2 goals later in that game and Messi just did his job there. Anyone remember Messi once scored with his hand? ref gave it and you expect him to tell the ref it wasnt a goal?

The fact is this club has had more than it's fair share of help from officials despite it's fans moaning about refereeing conspiracies. VAR was in place for two semi finals and not at Swansea because they are in the Championship. You might not be aware of it over in Malaysia RH but they are fast becoming a very disliked club. Like PSG only where they are because of petrodollars. Their fans are also becoming incredibly arrogant forgetting they once accused the red side of Manchester of buying titles and spending huge amounts. Swansea were robbed.
