took you long enough. always said he's a German-Italian coach who plays like an Italian team. If the defense doesn't work the whole team collapses. This season Schalke's defense has been trash. Only did well last season because of their solid defense.
This is a squad battling relegation in the Bundesliga. I'm not sure what some of you expect. They are overmatched at every position by a considerable margin. I think McKennie playing 90 minutes in the last 16 of the CL is cool. McKennie is also 20 years old. If he is playing all over and in different positions at the highest level I think that is fine skill set to have.
Not only that, right now City may be the best team in the planet. The only thing they lack at times is focus. Even right now, I don't think they're playing close to 100%.
Mendyl in, Weston out, with 15' to go. Una noche para el olvido (a night best forgotten) for Wes & Schalke.
City taking the piss now. Scoring luxury goals and celebrating without sweating. Shalke is lucky the BuLi has four teams worse than them this season. PS: 7-0 already and City could be 10-0 but missed some clear chances. Soccer needs a Mercy Rule.
BM stole his only player with talent then never played him. Tedesco has no talent to work with. None. zero. Not even his best player can start for any team in the top 4 of the bundesliga. He has created his own problem: he's completely out-performed his team. He is the best coach on the continent right now.
Tedesco is a rather well-known industrial engineer, and even though he's only 33, he has a good record of publications in his field. So he's not a moron. But he's an engineer. He sees a cog that works well in a situation, he's going to move it to a place where he thinks it's going to do even better. The problem is soccer players are not machines. So he moves the guy who's crossing the best from CM to wing, the guy who wins aerial duels from DM to forward, the CB who is fast to AM, etc. and it doesn't work. Because, unlike machines, people get uncomfortable when put in novel situations without proper psych time to transition. And poor Dodo wishes he could open their heads and check what is wrong in there.
Goretzka? He was a part time player for Schalke after he signed with Bayern, losing him should not have such a great impact. Tedesco is not helping his players at all, no continuity in style or lineups and from my vantage point no philosophy of play. When Schalke has the ball what type of goal are they trying to produce? If you can’t answer that 6 months into the season that’s a coaching problem.
wtf are you talking about? anyone who watches S04 play or watches the players should come away with the same overall perspective: this team has no talent. none. McSpud was played as a very false 9 to ball win up the field because they have no ACM. He was played as ACM, because they have no ACM. He was played as a 6 because they have 10 DM's on the pitch at any given time. Finally he was moved to wingback RBC because he can't do anything else and Tedesco bless his heart has no one else to defend, possess, pass, attack, shoot or score. He is magic. Tedesco is the best coach on the continent right now. He is so good he now looks bad. He got this team with ONE good player, Goretzka. Now that he lost his only good player his team has to play these ridiculous formations .
I understand that you rate Tedesco highly ... but this year isn’t evidence that he’s good. I don’t think he’s getting the best out of people. Playing your recent top performers way out of position isn’t clever. Last year, maybe he outmanaged most managers on the continent. This year, he hasn’t solved any of Schalke’s problems. Yes, perhaps he HAD to promote Wright and throw him to the wolves before he was ready, and maybe he had to improvise more than usual. Using McKennie as the plug for every hole isn’t that clever, and isn’t building a coherent team that is used to playing together. But if the formations make no sense and are incoherent, and the team looks lost, it’s not only the players; the manager isn’t finding solutions. If no players appear to be improving during the season or growing into their roles, perhaps the manager should be doing something else. If this year’s Tedesco is the best on the continent, all the managers should go home. I think you’re rating Tedesco more highly than he would rate himself.
fine. I hope they fire him and keep the same squad and instead of reaching this level of Champions League, they are relegated. Then people will say, oh the squad is terrible...Tedesco is a stud. If people can't see how well his coaching masked their deficiencies at every position, so be it. They don't have ONE player on the squad who can start in the top 4 bundesliga much less anywhere else in europe. They are dogshit.
Not if you have been watching the Buli for the last five years or so and watched the steady parade of talent walking away for free. Add to that the replacements have been over priced and under-performed and you get a storied team looking every bit the team that will have to fight to stay middle of the bottom half.
yeah in general I think the Bundesliga is pretty weak right now. McKennie probably gets bought at some point within the next three windows, whereas before he'd probably be in Germany until he was 23-25.
was coming, Domenico #Tedesco has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect. Huub #Stevens and Mike #Büskens will take charge of the team against RB Leipzig. #s04 pic.twitter.com/aInTRyg6Qd— FC Schalke 04 (@s04_en) March 14, 2019 that a club of Schalke standards is close to relegation is disgraceful. Same for Heidel spending on a fortune on flops.
Well Tedesco is out and we have have Huub from the BOD suite for his 3rd run managing Schalke. Huub will stabilize the squad and get back to playing standard schemes with the right players in standard roles. Huub loved JJ's mentality so he will love Weston!
