But he hasn't really been used in the marketable extent. Jozy was young and been a major part of the NT for years before his move to MLS. Wood has been part of the squad, but hasn't stood out much has he?

    Up in the skyway
I’d love to see a team like San Jose throw everything they have to land him but he’d probably end up somewhere like NY or L.A.

I could see him ending up in SJ. Closest to Hawaii. Though, maybe Miami might entice him.

I hope though he can give himself a few more years in Germany to salvage things.

I'd like to see him finish the season out as strong as possible and then consider his options. A few more goals and assist would be good enough for me

I mean Hamburg has a decent shot of being promoted. He should do his best to at least look like a serviceable Bundesliga attacker so he can maintain a roster spot with Hamburg or cash out for maximum gain in MLS.

We usually get a good number of Yanks relegated each season. This one promises to keep the trend: Wood, Ream, Williams, Parker-Brown, Sabbi, Cappis, Wooten, Lopez Alvarez, Miazga, are all likely to experience The Drop this season, with Novakovich, Green, Payne, McKennie & Cameron still not safe either. And that only among the guys I more or less follow, there may be more in leagues too crappy to care about.

Relegation is pretty much part of the experience for Yanks Abroad, since they often get bought or loaned to struggling teams. And, unlike our players in top-of-the-league teams who are usually benched or injured or worse (think Puli, Fabian, Chandler, etc.), our guys at the bottom are actually playing & going down with the ship --for the most part. I think the only ones we got playing near the top of their table are Adams, Horvath, and Gall if he keeps his starting place.

Thing is, we have experience following guys in relegation fodder teams. We've been doing it for years. And we can easily see the ones who get relegated with their chin up, and those who get there as part of the problem. No one would say Miazga is to blame for Reading's situation, he's perhaps their best defender. That's not the case with Bobby: he's clearly part of the problem. There are plenty of strikers in bad teams that at least manage a clutch goal to keep the hope alive. These days, Wood is not even at the "almost" or "trying" stage.

He plays for a horrible team with terrible defenders. Wood might have lost all ability, but it's hard to know, because strikers on terrible teams tend not to score, whether they would be able to on better teams or not.

He could walk into a starting role at NYCFC, and I think it would be a great fit for him. He’d be guaranteed time to settle due to lack of other options, and he’d finally get a chance to play with a team that isn’t completely outgunned in midfield. If Keaton can take that starting spot, it would be fun to see if he, Lewis and Wood could build some chemistry.

Personally, I’m over worrying too much about the leagues alour guys end up in. I think the team-specific situation is far more important. Look at how good (and now not so good) Celtic was for Tim(o).

I wonder which MLS team has dibs on his rights? I could see him moving over before the MLS transfer window closes.

It's insane that MLS has an allocation list that includes USMNT players and he isn't on it.

They have half their squad injured and still no Bobby in the 18. Guess Doll had it with him.

Maybe coach goes by Whoscored ratings. He is 19th on team.

I had really hoped he'd turn it around. I guess we're still seeking a true goalscorer in the Bundesliga. Casey, Mathis couldn't do it and guys like Buddle, Cooper could barely do it in the 2 Bundesliga.

I'd have liked to see Wood give Spain a shot.

Americans aren't going to play in Spain without an EU passport or citizenship in a Cotonou Agreement nation (or other EU association agreement). La Liga teams are only allowed three "foreigners," and they're not wasting those spots on American players unless they're world class. I think the lower league restrictions are even tighter.

Shaq Moore, for example, is able to play at Levante without restriction because he has Trinidadian citizenship. Wood, AFAIK, doesn't have anything other than American citizenship.

And had trouble scoring on bad ones early in career. Granted his Bund2 Wolfs days came a bit earlier in his career than Wood is now, but McBride was not pulling goals out of thin air every place he played. He had a pretty so-so season or two leading up to 2002 as well, iirc. But across his career - esp at Fulham, yeah, McHead managed some goals even when it seemed impossible.

looks like he has knee issues or irritation that he's getting examined by specialist, which could explain his absence from the weekend and US NT call up.
