Thanks for the dialog on this. I’m sorry if I’m coming across as argumentative or trolling. I’ve been here long enough that hopefully you and other long-timers recognize that. I’m not trying to go at anyone on this board, just venting general frustration over today’s result. I’ll make this final comment on the matter: I expect any striker of Auba’s quality to convert every PK whether there is encroachment or not. Had he converted the PK, we would have won regardless of the other bad reffing decisions that occurred in the match. Feel free to have the final word on this, or let this drop. Whatever you prefer.
So good team performance. If only we had another elite centre half Mkhi is looking very good in this kind of tactical setup which suits him
Personally I can't blame the refs. They blew it on Kane's offside call but they also didn't card/dismiss Xhaka and gave us a soft PK at the end that could've won it. None of that, however, changes the countless times the team's attack was undone by Arsenal's own players, or that Mustafi needlessly bundled into Kane, that PEA missed the PK, etc. Arsenal dropped 2 points because of squad imperfections. Period. If Bellerin played yesterday I'm convinced Arsenal wins. Now we need to hope the team channels their response into belief ahead of the next 2 matches. If they feel hard done then see it also as proof they can compete with the big teams and go beat ManU.
The Int’l Football Association Board (IFAB) is the group that writes and enforces the laws of the game. They have announced that Kane’s PK was the correct decision... I won’t bother you with the posting their explanation here since it’s mind-numbingly stupid, but here’s the ESPN story reporting it. In short, it probably means calls like this will still be screwed up even when VAR is implemented. http://www.espn.com/soccer/english-...efore-winning-penalty-against-arsenal?src=com
They're sure to be screwed up because look how much disagreement there is even in the very article you posted. Apparently PGMOL is saying Kane should've been flagged offside.
“Refer to the laws of the game” *everyone disagrees about the interpretation of the laws of the game* Kinda feel the laws of the game need a re-write.
The stupidity to me is that it disregards the attacker's advantage from starting in an offsides position. It also disregards the additional risks a defender has to take to prevent a goal against said offsides until the whistle stops play. To award a PK because an offisde attacker is fouled before the official flags him for being offsides is beyond stupid.
On today's Sky Sports News there was a poll of the best saves from the weekend, and Leno got #1 over Kepa, Gunn & Ousted. On replay that was one amazing double-save by Leno, especially the 2nd part. That was a moment of pure excellence in a match where he was on great form. Bravo Bernd!
