I don't know why this board is so stringent about which player abroad gets a thread or not. If there is no interest, the thread will die naturally as it gets pushed down the board due to inactivity. I, for one, am interested in following Hwang @ Vancouver and would appreciate having this thread instead of having to scan through a general thread to find out what's up with him.
I agree. I think he's one of our most exciting prospects so who cares if it's MLS. Just want to keep track of the kid.
Agreed. Also, Ki Tee Hee Kee hee. I think he's probably one of the better CB's in the league, which tells me that he's good enough for KNT. Would love to see a partnership between Tee Hee and Beijing Min.
Will make his debut in the Whitecaps final preseason match against LAFC on Saturday, then their MLS season will start at home against Minnesota United the week after.
Just got back from the match, HIB had an impressive debut today and should've been the Whitecaps MOTM if it weren't for the team's asinine method of picking the award winner (based on Twitter hashtag replies). Won several 50-50 balls against much bigger and physically stronger opponents, distributed the ball well, was involved in offensive buildups throughout the pitch, and had two great chances to score - once on a deflection and another on a long-range effort that forced a great save. His defensive workrate was on display as well, like we've seen in KNT matches: on one play, he held the ball up against two opposition attackers, came out with possession and created open space for a forward pass. On another, he hustled, won and took the corner that led to the 2-3 goal. Also shouted at his teammates to keep pressing throughout the game. He wasn't perfect -- he lost possession a few times and had some poor touches here and there -- but if he keeps playing like this, he won't be in MLS for long.
Thanks for the analysis! So my understanding is you’ve now volunteered to recap every Whitecap game for us now? Kthxbye.
God, he’s so ********ing smart and technically gifted. Unlike his tunnel vision, horse blinder compatriots, he looks for space and not necessarily the player. Running the midfield already.
Whitecaps blew up their team with new coach and a lot of new players. It's going to take a while for Whitecaps to jell and really see how HIB plays
Second Half is about to kickoff. Hwang In Beom is starting, but down 1-0. Despite losing, Hwang has been the best player on the pitch and people are raving about him and his quality.
the pace of the mls game is very slow and you get a lot of space to work with. no player inspired to be better should move to this league
Hwang in beom too smooth for MLS. Whichever one of you bums that said he was trash don't know nothing.
