Old Man Pizarro is Bremen's first attacking sub.

They burned one in the first half due to injury. 20 minutes left, down 1-0.

Kevin Mohwald is Bremen's final sub. 1-1 late. No Sargent today.

I'm starting to have the nagging suspicion that Kohfeldt wasn't feigning disinterest and was not being dismissive of his accomplishments on the field just to protect him from too much pressure.

But I've grown paranoid after all these years, after seeing something like this happen dozens of times: one bad game and it's over. But everything will be fine, right? He'll get more chances. Yes, I'm positive about that.

What? Kohfeldt gave Sargent his first start a week ago.

It's been a week man. A whole week. I've watched about 30 soccer games since then. It's like ages, man.

That collision between Pavlenka and the Wolfburg guy should have been a red on Pavlenka. Instead they called foul (no card) on Wolfsburg.

Bundesliga have to change their outdated view on that stuff.

Bundesliga teams have done a great job of killing my enthusiasm for these Friday games.

    At least McKennie is starting.

Dropped for Bartels. No way grandpa goes 90. So the plan here must be to get Bartels some work. Is this is his first team sheet coming back from injury?

Yes. He played for Werder II last weekend, and this is his first time in the full Werder 18 this season.

He had a bad game. Yanks have a short leash. I could have told you, but you'd have said no, too early, blah blah blah.

He'll get another, and probably last, shot, in a while. Let's hope Bartels sucks.

He signed a contract extension two weeks ago. Being constantly cynical doesn't make you clever.

Lol Bremen are quickly becoming one of my least fave clubs. Let’s hope a 3-0 loss and Wes scores a hatty

And he just signed that new contract. Bremen has him locked up now. No need to make his development a priority at the moment.

Signing a contract extension only means they can loan him out without problems, hoping his value increases if he shows well.

Bremen have shown nothing but interest in Sargent. they braught him in before he could feature to fight off other Bundesliga clubs that had interest. They moved him patiently into the first team. They have given him an extension right away. They are backing him. If they can be patient the fans should be as well.

So you are predicting them loan him over the summer?

Missed you while Josh was getting playing time. Good to have you back with your whacky conspiracy theories.

Pretty much, they seem to have Eggestein as the designated guy to take the last forward spot once Pizza kicks the bucket.

    Hopefully it's a good loan.

So they throw him in there for one start at right wing when he's a striker and then drop him from the squad completely? Talk about fickle and the mismanagement of a blue-chip prospect.

    Sweetie, I missed you too.

    Just to review the facts:

February 22: First Bundesliga start for Josh
    Feb 26: Signs new contract

So what time does Werder II play this weekend?

Can't be this naïve. Remember what they said about Julian in Bayern? About Rubin in Utrecht? About Josh Perez in Fiorentina?

They say stuff. What matters is not what they say.

Anyone who's followed our Yanks Abroad for over 10 years must know they got the shortest of all leashes. The day McKennie has two bad games in a row, you can bet your sweet patootie they'll bench him too.

I doubt they loan Sargent. Werder seems to like to keep cheap younger players around for cover. They did not loan J. Eggestein. I expect they will sign Bundesliga vet(s) to reinforce their attacking group. I think it is clear they don't expect Sargent to be a key squad member next year.
