If that was the issue, you'd think it would be remotely equal mistakes favoring both sides, especially when you consider it's the home team getting screwed. He's made a number of inexplicable decisions all majorly benefiting Herediano.
The ref is way too aggressive with his orders and telling guys 'no more'. He's got little guy syndrome and the players know it. He was trying to talk to Pity before giving him the yellow and Pity was having none of it, purposely turned his back to the ref. Not smart, and not respectful, but this ref has done precious little to actually earn any respect so far.
1) I know they walked it back a bit, but it must be in discussions to be reported. At least snip off 1 of the 2. Especially makes sense with Nations League. 2) It can't be worse and maybe the calls would be consistent at least. We know the way it goes with this federation. Insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly.
Us Houston Dynamo fans and supporters know just how you feel. By winning MLS Cup in our first season we were in CONCACAF play just 11 months on from finding out our team name(s) and colors. Which we then played in SuperLiga and advanced regularly in regional competition over our 14 seasons so we witnessed the ref quality, or lack there of, in our region. One just literally has to transform themselves into being numb. Seriously. CONCACAF refs will drive a man or woman mad if not.
I absolutely agree it has been egregiously one sided. I just meant that even in the corrupt world of CONCACAF soccer, I just don't think refs get bribed that often. Frustrating, no matter the reason.
They may end up really regretting all these missed opportunities. All Herediano needs is 1 to take control. A 3rd goal would provide so much comfort because you figure Atlanta would win in extras even if they were come back on.
The explanation is not limited to that possibility. Occam's razor would be things more like realizing without being told it would be better for business if the game stays close, regional bias, or bias against the U.S. because of either politics or lack of respect for the game. Corruption is maybe the least likely of explanations, but does happen too.
