Toronto will be a good example this year of difference between leagues with/without relegation. They can write the year off and off load Bradley at some point (whose contract runs out this year). But will they sell tickets? They have no front line and the back line leadership is aging.

why Horvath over Steffen? I think they are close, but would probably go with Steffen for now.

If you think Brooks and Miazga are "Troncos", why would you put them wide in a 3 CB line? I'd swap Brooks and Long so very unlikey Brooks would be pulled out wide.

Thought SKC were brilliant in their transition D and marking in their last CCL match. MLS-produced defenders will likely be playing a role in the team for sometime to come.

2/3's of what he puts out there on BS is bait. He's trolling.

    Lletget and Arriola?

Not taking injuries into consideration is naïve at best, dangerous at worst. I think it'd be more productive to field your Best XI (see title) every few weeks considering form and injuries, rather than fixing an "ideal" one.

Need to say more of Fab Jo, who hasn't been playing much or all that well.

he's made ~13 appearances this season - including full 90 for the last 2 matches - for a team that is currently slated for the Champions League next season ....

what more is there to see?

USMNT doesn't have too many players like that lying around...he's only 31....he's still a great player. Baffled by all the doubts about this player.....clearly a best 11 selection.

Who else is better than him at left back????????????????????????????????????

    Lovitz? Garza? Sweat? Robinson? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

FabJo didn't make it through the WC.
He didn't make it through the Copa.
He didn't even make it through the Concacaf Cup.

For his 4 starts at rightback, his WS average is 6.14. But stats don't tell everything. What did they miss? He is playing for a team in the UCL places. He should be running downhill as far as having the ability to get a strong performances.

Right now, I'd go with Yedlin then Adams at right back in a 'must win game'. At leftback, Robinson would be the obvious choice.

I think this is a good point. Naïve and dangerous seem a bit strong of words in the context of making a fake lineup on a forum though, and that's probably in the end what undercuts it.

    So Cal
Naive and dangerous would be entrusting me to pick and coach the team. Me picking a team on an internet forum....not so much.

We're not as irrelevant as you think. Fans influence the entire atmosphere of expectancy, and that in turn can influence the people making actual decisions.

I hope they have a Plan B in case several of our crucial players (Wes, Puli, JAB, Fabian, Yedlin) are injured for a vital game.

He has been in 5 games. We were 2-2-1 in those five. During 2018, the team was 3-5-3. Robinson had three assists in his 5 games. During 2018, the USA scored 10 goals; so he assisted on 30% of the goals only playing substantial minutes in less than half the games.

Robinson was one of the few consistently good offensive players under Sarachan.

Robinson also was subbed in late for game. It is interesting that a poster would make these kind of comments about Robinson and be so high on Trapp. We suffered through nine game with Trapp and the results were worse 2W-4L-3D with him on the field.

is that right? what a weird little tidbit.

on the one hand- of course we did we were playing france, etc with teenagers. is someone actually using that to argue he shouldnt be in the team? thatd be pretty dumb...

on the other hand- wasnt that the case with bale for a while very early on? im taking this to mean we have a world class right winger in waiting.

We have several of players in the Championship, actually playing:

    #6 Derby --- Holmes
    #12 Hull --- Lichaj
    #15 Swansea --- CCV
    #18 QPR --- Cameron
    #19 Reading --- Miazga
    #20 Wigan --- Robinson

It's the league where we got the most players starting, and looking good in their teams (not so sure about Lichaj of late, though).

Anyway, if we assume the EFL Championship is about MLS level, except for the Top 6 or so teams, that are a bit better, then the only guy we have in a club stronger than MLS there would be Duane Holmes.

....Except that "MLS" isn't a monolithic level either. Holmes on Derby, fighting for . a chance in the EPL, is dealing with a much different level of pressure and play than Djordie Mihalovic. And again, different from Nick Lima.

Not to mention, teams drop or go up levels. Right now, I think the Fire are a better team than Toronto. That's despite Toronto's highly-paid team, and Chicago's comparatively small payroll. Then again, perhaps the intra-squad competition may still be higher in Toronto than Chicago because of those highly-paid DP's providing stiff competition...

In terms of player form and 3G's tactics, my best XI would be---and allowing for some short-medium term injuries.

    ---------------------------Zardes------------
    -------------Boyd---------------------Altidore------
    ------------------Pulisic------McKennie----
    ---------------------------Adams------
    -------Robinson----Brooks-----Long-----Arriola-----
    ---------------------------Steffen----------

Arriola to get a trial at underlapping, attacking RB.

Arriola has a a good bit of experience in both CM and RB so that makes sense. I don't know if we want Jozy on the wing. I'd rather put a real winger out there and let him play his best spot.
