Argentina and Uruguay are pretty well-developed, no? Why would they need Chile to bail them out on WC expenses?
Because while all three are relatively well-developed, Chile actually has money Uruguay can't be saddled with a lot due to size, and go have fun looking up Argentina's current economic situation.

I think Argentina has thrown away the World Cup after the last 48 hours. The press, the fans, the government have transformed one game into a small international crisis. Imagine a World Cup?
To be fair Argentina was a pretty good 2011 Copa America host with not many issues that I can remember. Club teams are a different animal than the National teams. More fanaticism and rivalry hatred.
FIFA had a paper (they can change the rules when ever they want) that said stadiums should be in cities of a certain population, I think it was 750K, but I can not remember. Argentina has 4 MSAs of over 1 Million. Chile 1 and Uruguay 1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_South_American_metropolitan_areas_by_population

Wow, this has got me really excited! I would LOVE a Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay WC. What an experience that would be. I wouldn’t complain about Morocco, Spain and Portugal either, and throw in Algeria and Tunisia and that would be great to me. I’d even be OK with the Balkan/east European bid but that sounds like a longshot at best. Anything but UK/Ireland, way too boring to me (although it would be surely be a well executed tournament in terms of logistics and stadiums). Just my personal preferences, I know a lot of people have very different preferences and that's fine with me.
Yeah, I like the idea of CHI-ARG-URU-PAR co-hosting a WC. After sitting out the next 2 WCs, I would definitely attend in 2030 if these are the host countries, assuming I'm still able-bodied (can't assume anything that is more than a decade away ). But maybe 2034 would be more "fair" geographically. It seems like it would be more Europe's turn in 2030, especially western Europe (and especially if they are co-hosting with northern Africa). I know Russia just hosted, but that's still pretty far from Spain, UK, etc. All 4 of those South American countries share a border with Brazil who hosted less than 5 years ago.
But how many times has South America hosted in the past 50 years???? How many times has Europe or Countries a short plane ride from Europe would have hosted by the time 2030 comes along????
I get sitting out 2022, since Qatar isn't too interesting, but what's wrong with the United bid? Especially Mexico if you're American.
Chile shares a border with Brasil? Since when? Are the Chileans "on the move" again? btw the distance between Moscow and Madrid is roughly about the same as between Brasilia and Santiago.
Well, I don't know how relevant going back 50 years is, especially if we're talking about involving some northern CAF countries in the 2030 bid. We would have to have every other WC in Africa for the foreseeable future if we had to even out geographical distribution over the past 50 years. I think with Northern America hosting in 2026, it is more logical to go to Europe/Africa in 2030. Oh, Chile hasn't taken over southern Bolivia yet? And yeah, I guess Madrid to Moscow reasonably close. But if WCs were distributed by flying distance, every third WC would have to be played in New Zealand or Fiji.
So how would this Chile-Argentina-Uruguay-Paraguay tournament be organised? Would they each get one out of the opening game, semi finals and final? 2026 is a USA World Cup with Mexico and Canada as add ons. This wouldn't have a dominant host. They would have been better off going with Argentina and Chile from the start. Uruguay as a centenary host has led them away from practicalities. Annoyingly I cannot re-arrange the initials of each country's name into an amusing acronym.
